Pearl pov
"Mother?" I asked, leaning in the doorway of her room.
"Huh? Oh, yes Pearl?" She stood up from where she sat on her bed, walking to her mirror. I stepped in, comparing us. She was also tall and thin, but nowhere near as thin as I. Her pointed nose was scrunched up in concentration as she ran fingers through her Brown pixie cut.
"I was wondering if I could walk to a friend's house?"
"Yes, of cou-" she stared at me. "You're..."
"Pearl," I finished.
"You... Pearl... want... to go to... a friend's house?"
"Yes."
"Honey, THAT'S GREAT!" I smiled.
"What's her name?"
"It's..." I thought for a moment. "Peridot. Her name is Peridot."
I looked down at the piece of paper Peridot had handed me during Math class.
1452 Diamond Ave

I sighed. Yellen Diamond seemed nice, but...
Peridot had said her house was big. That was an understatement. The building must've been bigger than the school, and this was only from the front!
I walked up to the iron gate, where beautiful vines twisted and turned almost as if they were real. I pressed the call button, and Yellen's face appeared on the small screen.
"Hello, this is the Diamond household, do you have an appointment? "
"Um, hello, it's Pearl Baroque, from school? Your sister handed me this slip of paper with the address?"
The note was written in Yellow Ink, and decorated with Diamonds, which made the note rather difficult to read, but I kept my mouth closed.
"Oh, you. Well, come in." She pressed a button and the gate swung open.
"Thank you!" I walked up the driveway, checking my watch.
3:45
"Oh dear, I hope she doesn't mind!" I said quietly.
"Finally," She sighed when I knocked on the door. "You're early, but you took long enough walking up the driveway."
"I'm sorry, I-"
"Shoes." She pointed to a shoe mat to the right of the door. I noticed all the shoes.
There were yellow ballet flats, yellow boots, green sneakers and boots, and much more. I placed my light blue ballet flats next to a pair of Dark blue ones.
"Is Bella already here?" I asked.
"Yes, don't ask stupid questions." We turned down the hallway to the right and went up to the second floor. I glanced briefly into rooms as we passed.
There were several offices, some bedrooms, and a room with an entire wall that was a television. One room we passed, only two doors down from our destination, peaked my interest.
On the door, green letters spelled out Peridot. The inside of the room was messy, empty Doritos bags and Mountain Dew bottles littered the ground. Peridot sat in a bean bag chair playing some video games, and paper littered a desk.
"In here." Yellen's voice snapped me back to attention, and I entered a door with her name spelled out in Yellow.
Her walls were yellow. Her soft carpet was white. Her large bed was against the wall on one side and had a door on either side. There was a large tv on the opposite wall, along with shelves that held books and various knick-knacks. Bella was laying on her stomach on the bed, flipping through a magazine.
"Yellen, it's too dark in here!" She complained, rolling onto her back.
"Then open the shades." Yellen retorted, walking over to one of the two large windows and pulling back the curtains. There were many layers of yellows and whites. She walked past the fireplace and opened the other curtains.
"What rubbish are you reading anyway?" Bella responded by holding up a magazine with some pop star on the cover.
"Teen Gem Weekly! It says here Estelle's going to stop here on her next tour!" Yellen stomped over and snatched the magazine from her hands. "Hey!" She yelled, jumping after her and landing on the floor.
"I have something better!" She grinned and tossed the magazine across the room.
"It better be good." Bella pouted, crossing her arms.
"Oh, it will be." Yellen grinned. "Pearl? "
"Yes, Miss Yellen?" I asked.
"Don't be so formal!" She smirked. "Just call me Yellen. Anyhow, come!" She pointed to the bench at the bottom of her bed, and Bell and I sat down.
"What is it?" Bella asked as Yellen grabbed a book off her shelf. She walked back over.
"A photo album? Really?"
"Not just a photo album you twit!" She yelled, fake-slapping her-hopefully.
"It's baby pictures of the Peridork!" She opened to a bookmarked page. "There!" She pointed to a picture.
"Aww, she's so cute!" Bella squealed.
"Is that really Peridot?" I asked.
"Duh!"
"But she looks so...."
"Let it sink in!" Yellen said, laughing snarkily.
"Um, may I please use the bathroom?" I asked, glancing through the door to her bathroom.
"Sure?" She said, baffled as to why I'd ask. I stood up and stepped towards the bathroom.
"Down the hall and to the left."
"Oh." I stepped into the hallway, turning left towards the way we'd come.
Once I was sure she couldn't see me, I stepped into Peridot's room.
"I thought you were going to the bathroom." She said, not taking her eyes off the tv.
"I just needed a break." She laughed at nothing in particular, and I explored her room.
Her bed was messy and unmade. It rested in the corner by the window. Next to it, her desk blocked the unused fireplace. The doors were on the opposite side of the room as Yellen's, and the giant tv stood between them.
I stood beside the desk, looking at the papers on it. They were mostly scattered notes, some from years past. But there were some interesting things too. Sketches. Poems.
"Peridot?"
"Yahuh?"
"Who is this?" I heard the game pause, and Peridot came rushing over to clear all the papers off her desk and into her backpack.
"WHATDOYOUJUSTLOOKATEVERYBODYSSTUFFYOUCLODWHATTHEHELLTHATWASPRIVATE!" She freaked out.
"I-I'm sorry..." I said once she'd calmed down.
"Me too." We sat there silently for a few minutes.
"Um, Peridot?"
"Yes, Pearl?"
"You were a cute baby."
"NNNNNYYYUUUUGGGGHHH!"
