Lapis's pov

"You really didn't have to do anything for my birthday."

"That's good, because I didn't." I sighed, looking away from Jasper and at the plate of pancakes before me.

"Happy Birthday Lapis." My mother said, attempting to hug me around her growing stomach.
"Thank you for making pancakes." I smiled.

"It's your Fifteenth birthday, we couldn't simply feed you cereal and send you off." She sat down across from me. "Do you know what today is?"

"March Fifteenth?" I asked, confused. Mother grinned.

"The Ides of March." Realization clicked.

"The day Julius Ceaser was stabbed?" Mother nodded.

"They say no good can come from the Ides of March. However, I feel that you're an exception."

"Yawn! Boring! Cmon we gotta go to school!" Jasper stood up quickly and shoved her remaining pancakes, plus my two untouched ones, in her mouth. After a moment's deliberation, she also grabbed the remaining half of my pancake.

"I love you! See you after school!" I called behind me as Jasper dragged me out the door.

Once at school, I went to my locker to find my German binder. Strangely enough, I found a slip of paper had been tucked into the side of my locker. I pulled it out to find a birthday card from Peridot.

"Aww." I put the card in my bag and opened my locker, completely shocked when confetti burst out.

"Happy birthday Lapis!" Mangano yelled from behind me.

"Thanks! Just, try not to give me a heart attack next time?" I hugged her. "Do you still wanna hang out later?" She smiled.

"I've been looking forward to it all week!"She slung her bag off of her shoulder and dug through it. "I got some microwave popcorn and my favorite movie, just in case."

"Sounds perfect. Some nineties teen flick?" She shook her head.

"Nope. The Princess Bride." I chuckled.

"Why did I see that coming?" We both laughed.

"Happy birthday, Lappy."
