Seventy Four-Crazy Little Thing
Pearl's pov
Eagerly, I rang the doorbell. From behind the door I could hear the Headmistress yell something, to which Peridot responded. This exchange of words was quickly followed by the sounds of Peridot falling down the stairs, picking herself back up, and opening the door.
"Pearl!" Peridot wrapped her arms around my torso. "It's wonderful to see you!" She exclaimed joyfully, the pitch of her voice changing massively.
"How are you?" I asked.
"Better now!" Peridot replied, grinning like an emoji.
"I brought some homemade granola bars! My mother, Opal, and I worked so hard on them!" Peridot led me to the kitchen, where I placed the container on the center island before opening it and handing her a bar. "What do you think?" She eagerly took a bite, stopping abruptly when she found that she could not bite through the bar.
"Itsh a little tough," She said, the bar still clenched between her teeth. "But it tashte great!" I chuckled.
"That's certainly one way to put it." Peridot took the unbreakable granola bar out of her mouth.
"How on Earth would someone eat this?" She asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine, although Amethyst ate half a dozen in under a minute!"
"Oh!" Peridot's face clicked with realization. "How is Amethyst?"
"Good. Today she and Sugilite went to spend some time alone." We were quiet for a moment.
"I'm very excited." Peridot said, breaking the silence.
"Oh? Why's that?"
"Because!" She bounced slightly. "My birth mother is seven months pregnant with my little sister! I can't wait to meet her!"
"That's amazing!" I wrapped my arms around my girlfriend. "Is your birth mother going to travel here?"
"Yes! She'll be arriving next month and staying with us through the final month of her pregnancy. I haven't seen her in eleven years, I can't wait for all of our mother/daughter bonding time!" Peridot's green eyes sparkeled.
"You're so lucky! I've always wanted a younger sibling." Peridot nodded.
"Do you think it'll be strange? There'll be almost fifteen years between us." I shook my head.
"I don't know for sure. Opal is only older by four years." I began. "Personally, I think it would be be stranger to have a siblings with an age difference of one week." Peridot looked at me, confused.
"Where'd you get that from?" Bewildered, I eyed her cautiously.
"Isn't Yellen's birthday only a week before yours?"
"Oh Yeah! My sister's birthday will be in April also!" I chuckled.
"I don't know how on Earth your mother manages to spend her money on two-maybe even three- birthdays in one week. My mother's lucky enough to have Opal in January and myself in March." Peridot gasped.
"Your birthday is next month! I can't believe I forgot!" I chuckled at Peridot's reaction.
"March first, as always." Peridot's eyes went wide as she fell backwards onto the hard tile floor. "Oh My Stars! Peridot, are you okay?"
"I only have five days to prepare for your fifteenth birthday." She sat up. "What are the plans?"
"Currently? Nothing." She grinned, and I could see her mind at work.
"Great. I shall develop the plans for the best birthday ever!"
