Opal's pov

I stepped up to the podium in a daze. That feeling where you're moving but it doesn't feel like you are.

"Opal, would you like to say a few words?"

"I-" I stared out into the crowd. Why did they vote me into office? I didn't know what to do. I had no idea I'd ever make it this far.

"Honestly, I'm shocked. I really didn't expect this. I... I don't think I can do this. I'd like to step down." Mrs. Diamond nodded, and the audience booed.

"That leaves us with out runner up... Alexandrite!" Alexandrite nodded, and stepped up to the podium.

"Thank you." After she said a few short words, Mrs. Diamond moved on.

I looked at Alexandrite and smiled. She smiled back, and I knew I'd done the right thing.

Beside us, Amethyst and Yellen were quietly arguing.

"It's gonna be me!"

"No, it's going to be me!"

"And the Freshmen class president is..."

"Who?"

Amethyst's pov

"Honestly, I couldn't imagine how Turquoise's win was a surprise for anyone." Pearl said. "She was the only candidate with good morals."

"Morals shmorals, I'm just mad I couldn't beat Yellen." I'll leaned back. Peri snorted.

"Yellen's going to be complaining to mother for ages! I'll never hear the end of it!" Everyone laughed.

"The good thing is, neither of us has to worry about being a president." Opal said, patting my head.

"Yes, but Alexandrite won! I do believe this calls for a sleepover!" Sardonyx jumped in the air.

"Donyx, I don't think we're good enough friends with Alexandrite to have a sleepover-"

"I'd love to." Opal screamed and we all laughed when she turned around and saw Alex-what's-her-face behind her.

"Well, since we're technically having this "sleepover", I wish to be invited." Peridot said. "An evening spent listening to Yellen complain is not my idea of fun, much less a whole weekend." Pearl looked at the ground.

"But Opal, your car's maximum capacity is five people, there's no possible legal way to travel!" Opal scratched her head.

"Oh yeah." She sat on the trunk of  her car. "Guess we can't really do it."

"What?" Sugi punched her lightly. "The little ones are tiny, Pearl and the blonde there could probably fit on one seat."

"My name is Peridot."

"There is no way I'm sitting illegally!"

"Your sister brings up a good point." Alex said. "We cannot drive illegally." Peridot groaned.

"If this is taking so long, I'm just going to go home with Mother and receive a ride home! That way I can get my things and get a ride to your residence!"

"Wonderful idea, Peridot! I shall voyage home with Ruby and my mother and arrive at the Baroque home at a later hour!" Peridot stormed off abd Sardonyx followed. Opal chuckled.

"I guess that makes us legal?" Alex shook her head.

"I'll ride my bike."
