Peridot's pov

The Baroque household was insane.

I had assumed that once we left the school building we'd 've done with the insanity, but nothing could've prepared me for the Baroque household.

It appeared that it had been the selected spot for everyone to meet after school, and there were so many people I lost my head.

Eventually, I shut myself in Pearl's room to escape.

"Oh dear, they've gotten to you too?" I turned around and saw Pearl peeking out from behind her bed.

"You're in here, Pearl?"

"Not just Perogi." Amethyst's voice came from behind the bed. I ventured further into the room and saw that in addition to Pearl, Amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire, and Miss Baroque sat on the air mattress.

"They're insane!" Miss. Baroque sighed.

"This is what I get for letting Opal invite all her friends."

"I think Sardonyx is really the worst one." Ruby said. Sardonyx's voice echoed from the first floor, calling out aimlessly for an assistant.

"I can tell she's a magician this year." Miss. Baroque said, semi cheerfully.

"Peridot, what's your costume?" Pearl asked. I grinned.

"Get this!" I dug through my bag. "An alien!" Sapphire clapped politely. She had painted her skin blue and Ruby had painted hers red. "What are you two?"

"Fire and Ice." Ruby explained, placing a headband with false flames on her head. From downstairs, the sound of breaking glass caught our attention.

"What broke?" Miss Baroque yelled, rushing downstairs.

"We should start to get ready." Pearl decided.

"Hey, did anyone see what Alexandrite dressed up as?" Amethyst asked.

"I'm not sure, but she had six arms and two mouths.

Opal's pov

"I said no juggling!" I yelled, grabbing the broom to sweep up the broken wine glass.

"Whoops." Sardonyx got down off the table.

"Here, I've got this Opal, go get ready." Mom said, grabbing the broom from me. I walked back into the living room.

"I need the curling Iron, whose got it?" I asked. Alexandrite handed it to me. "Thanks." I plugged it in in the bathroom and curled my hair so that it fell halfway down my back, then used some Bobby pins and hair clips to pin it so it fell at my shoulders. I applied red lipstick and put on my hat, and I was done.

"How's it goin baby?" Sugilite asked, walking in wearing her suit.

"What do you think?" She stared at me for a minute.

"I think we need to tell heaven that they lost an angel."

"Quit it!" I pinched her playfully on the shoulder.

"C'mon guys, it's almost dark out!" Sardoynx yelled. The younger girls joined us downstairs.

"You all have a plan?" Mom asked.

"Yeah. We'll go up around the rich block like usual." Mom nodded.

"Okay, Pearl, listen to Opal. Amethyst, listen to Sugilite. Have fun girls!"
