Eighty One-Malachite
Lapis's pov
"Lapis, Jasper, do you two want to go to the hospital, or school?" Peridot's mom asked. I shrugged.
"I just want to be with my mom." Jasper snorted.
"For once in my life, I wanna go to school." She started snickering. Peridot stuck her tongue out behind Jasper's house, and Mrs. Diamond started the car.
When she dropped me off at the hospital, I had forgotten the number of the room mom was in, and the young receptionist was no help whatsoever, but a nurse who'd spoken to mother knew who I was looking for and brought me along.
"Thank you so much!" I said once we'd arrived.
"No problem. Now, I think there's someone in there you need to meet." I nodded, and opened the door slowly.
"Mother?"
"Lapis? Shouldn't you be at school?" She asked quietly.
"Peridot's mom said it was okay." Mother nodded.
"Come hold your sister." I sat down in a rocking chair next to the bed and she placed the baby in my hands.
She was small, and her dark skin had patches of lighter skin, but she was gorgeous.
"What did you name her?" I asked.
"Malachite." I nodded.
"She's beautiful."
I was excited for the responsibilities of being a big sister. Her nursery would be in the room across the hall from mine because he didn't want to be disturbed by crying, so mother was going to sleep on my bed to be closer to the baby. I knew that I'd have to be the sister and father for my baby sister, but for Malachite, I'd do anything.
(A/N) Welp that about covers us for all summer 😂
