Chapter Five: Surprise Me!

The next morning, I awoke to find that Justin had left me in my bed, empty--- without a trace, I was all alone.

"Justin?!" I called,

"Morning sunshine, how are you feeling?" he called,

"Fine, where are you?"

"In the kitchen, making—well...it's a surprise"

"Oh! I like surprises, what is it?"

"Well now, if I told you it wouldn't be much of a surprise now. Would it?"

"No, no it obviously wouldn't" I yelled,

"Okay, glad you understand" he paused, "just... wait there" he ordered "I'll bring it to you when it's finished"

"Okay" I said, I waited and waited: until finally... he came bursting in, throwing the room door open in excitement as he ran to my side.

"Valla!" he announced as he placed a big heaping silver dish in front of me.

"Ooo, can I?"

"Go ahead, open it"

"Okay" I squealed with great excitement as I carefully unveiled the supervise dish. "Why it's a..." I paused shocked, "Plate of Pancakes?"

"Do you like it?" he added, "Your mom helped me make it...extra special... for you" he stammered a little on that last part,

"Um, thanks" I said dreamily, as I began to devour the big huge, enormous stack of Pancake nearly ladled and drenched in that fresh, gooey, sticky, thick maple syrup.

"Annabelle, slowdown" he sat down on the edge of my bed, "I take it you like my surprise?"

"Um...hmm..." I nodded, a big smile on my face.

"Well, if you like that surprise; you'll love the second one"

"What?"

"The other one's waiting outside"

"Okay"

"Come on, hurry up and finish; so we can go get it"

"Okay!" I squealed, I scarfed the rest of the pancakes down as quickly as I could—two at a time.

After I had devoured the pancakes, I pulled Justin by the arm to the edge of my room—

"Wait Annabelle! You're not ready yet"

"I'm not?"

"Nope" he announced, "You need one more thing first"

"What's that?"

"A blindfold, here put this on"

"Well, okay..." I shrugged,

"Now, follow me! I'll lead you to your super-secret surprise"

"Okay" I said, after I finally managed to tie the blindfold on successfully. I griped Justin's fingers around mine as he led me outside,

"Okay Annabelle, you can remove the blindfold!" once I removed my blindfold I could clearly see two ponies.

"Wow!" I exclaimed, "Thank you... but... I don't understand..." I stammered.

"What don't you understand?"

"My only two ponies are gone... what do I need these for?"

"Well... I just thought that... well I... it's a... a gift"

"A gift?"

"Yes, a gift... for you... to... to... to... remember me by..."

"Oh, thank you... but"

"But... what?"

"But... what are their names?"

"Names?"

"Yes, did you give them names?"

"Yes, oh yes... I did... their names are: Bravestar and Snowdream!"

"Okay...? Which is which?"

"Oh, that's easy... Bravestar is the brown one, and Snowdream... well—that just about explains it all, doesn't it?"

"I'll say! Thanks again..."

"You're welcome"

"I'll take them to the barn right now!" I exclaimed

"Okay, glad you like them... I'll just be wait here"

"Don't you wanna meet Maya?"

"Um, well... okay?"

"Well don't just stand there, come on"

"Okay"

I walk along-side Justin to the barn just inside the gate leading out of the Moorland Stable, we saw Maya just outside,

"Hi Maya" I announced,

"Oh, hi Annabelle; I see that you've found one of your ponies... that is one of your ponies that went missing isn't it? The white one? But, now; who's this other one you've got here?"

"Well Maya, this pony is the same color as Snowflake: the pony I lost, but this pony's name is Snowdream, and she was in fact... a gift"

"A gift? From who?"

"From...me" Justin chimed in,

"Awww, that's so nice of you..."

"Thanks Maya"

Say Maya! Can you find room to put these guys?" I pointed to the two ponies.

"Well... no, but you can"

"I can?"

"Yes, lucky for you I just finished two extra stalls; you can put them in their"

"Oh Maya, you're the best!" I hugged her

"I know" she said with a slight blush, as I walked the two ponies to the end of the long dark hall, I heard Maya's voice: "Oh, and if the ponies have name's, can you please etch them onto the stalls' nameplates" I kept that thought in the back of my mind all the while.

It took me a while, but I finally got to the two stalls, after I placed my two new ponies in the two stalls and etching there name's on the stall doors—I decided that after I latched the doors behind me, and reported back to Maya... then I would go and visit Cinnamonswirl in his.

So, I did just that! I walked my way back to Maya's side. I walked all the way back down that long, dark, hallway—until, I saw a clear image of a girl. Clear as day, I ran to her!

"Maya!" I exclaimed with pure joy as I hugged her.

"Why, hi Annabelle; did you find the two stalls okay?"

"Yes, oh my yes I did!"

"Great! And did you write their names down on the clapboard attached?"

"Yes"

"That's wonderful, Annabelle!"

"Well now, I'm off to visit Cinnamonswirl in his stall"

"Well okay, here take this; you might need it" she took out a slip of paper out of her pocket; I unfolded it and said graciously.

"Thanks"

May is the stable hand. She shows you the gear

shop, clothes shop and the star shop when you

first arrive at Moorland.

"It's no Problem" she smiled, hugged me and said "Good luck on your fantastic yet dangerous journey"

"Huh..." I said looking confused; all she did was smile and say:

"Hmmm, you'll find out soon enough"

"Well, okay" I exclaimed, still a little confused,

"Huh," May sighed, "You'll know all in good time"

"Whatever" I shrugged, "Can I go visit Cinnamonswirl now?"

"Ugh" she sighed, "yes; yes you may..."

"Thanks, May!" I started to walk toward Cinnamonswirl's stall, I walked for what seemed like an eternity until I came to a stall: "This MUST be Cinnamonswirl's" I thought,
