Chapter 9

"Hey, Ban, mind laying King down on one of those tables?" Brooke asked as she stepped inside the tavern. After defeating the Holy Knights and taking down the air dome around the villagers the group ha headed back up to the Tavern to rest before doing anything else.

"Huh, why?" Ban asked.

"Because at this rate the kid's going to bleed out from that wound if we don't do anything. We don't have all night."

Ban glanced down at Meliodas and the two of them shrugged before Ban dropped King onto one of the nearest tables. Not wasting a single second Brooke stepped up to the unconscious fairy. She took a breath and reached her palm upwards. For a second nothing happened, until water started to appear floating about her upwards facing palm.

Though looking at the water, Ban and Meliodas could tell that the water in her hand wasn't normal- no- it  seemed to be glowing and a certain warmth radiated from it.

Not wasting a second, Brooke slowly and carefully moved the water over King's wound. "Purify"  She said, and slowly the water covered the effected area and spread around. The dried blood was soaked up by the water and the wound healed right in front of everyone's eyes.

Pulling back, the water that was now a red color slowly started to shrink until it disappeared completely. A second later King blinked open his eyes and pushed himself up into a sitting position. "What happened?"

"That's incredible! I've never seen someone use that kind of healing magic! Could you possibly be a Druid, Brooke?" Diane asked as she looked inside the tavern through a window.

"Oh, no. I'm not a Druid. I've just picked up a few things during my travels. Anyways, you should be fine now, King."

King's hand was hovering over where his wound had been, a look of awe on his face. "Amazing, I've never seen healing magic this effective. I feel even better than I did before."

"Hell yeah you do! Brooke's healing is one of a kind!" Titus exclaimed, drawing the attention on him.

"Wait, who're you?" Meliodas asked.

Titus sputtered, "What do you mean 'who're you?' I'm the guy who saved your asses!"

"Titus, calm down." Brooke said as she walked over towards the two of them. "You've already met Aarona, but let me formally introduce you to two of my friends. Standing in front of you are Aarona and Titus Terato." The two of them placed their fists on their chests and bowed their heads once they were introduced.

"Pleasure to officially meet you." Aarona said. "By the way I'm the older sibling."

Titus sputtered, "Why'd you have to tell them that!? If you hadn't said anything then they wouldn't of known!"

"They'd still know I was older with how immature you are."

"Guys. Please, now's not the time for another fight." Brooke said. She turned and looked at the sins, "Sorry, the two of them are prone to bickering with each other. If they break out into fights please feel free to snap them out of it using any means necessary."

"Huh?! Why'd you go and say that?" Titus asked.

"Because in the past you two have accidentally leveled entire forests with your fights. If I recall correctly one of your arguments almost brought the Fairy King's Forest to the ground." The memory of that event seemed to of quieted the two of them down, while the Sins looked on in confusion- King looking especially confused.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Aarona, Sir Titus. My name's Elizabeth, it's a pleasure to meet the both of you."

Aarona looked at Elizabeth and her expression grew cold. "Elizabeth?"

Taken aback at the sudden change of mood, Elizabeth took a small step back, "I'm sorry, did I do something to offend you, Lady Aarona?"

Titus looked down at Aarona and placed a hand on her shoulder, an apologetic grin on his face "She's just a bit tired after the fight. Don't worry too much about it."

Elizabeth looked from Aarona to Titus then back to Aarona, a smile appearing on her face. "Oh, alright. I hope you rest well, Lady Aarona."

Brooke looked between the two girls and let out a small sigh. She'd have to have a short talk with Aarona later.

That night everyone took the time to rest up. Since both the main and the guest bedroom were claimed by the three sins already there, Brooke, Titus, and Aarona were placed in what looked to be a small lounge room on the second floor. There was a table in the middle of the room along with a few chairs, all of them being moved to the side of the room and leaving an empty space in the middle.

As the three of them got comfortable, Brooke looked over towards Aarona. "She doesn't remember any of it, you know."

"That doesn't change what happened. She could of stopped them if she tried hard enough." She stood up and rolled her shoulders, "Sorry, but I want to get some fresh air before I head to sleep."

Before the other two could say anything, Aarona was already walking out of the room and heading down the stairs. With a sigh Brooke leaned back against the wall and shook her head slightly. She couldn't really blame Aarona for holding this type of grudge though. What had happened back then was bad enough for anyone to hold a hatred towards those who were involved- even if they weren't involved directly.

"I'm sure you understand where she's coming from." Titus said. "If I'm completely honest I's still not over it either but I can't blame someone who doesn't remember what happened."

Brooke let out a small sigh, "Yeah, I get it. I just hope this doesn't cause too many problems in the future."

After a nights rest, everyone had stepped outside for a breath of fresh air before they headed out for their next destination.

Titus had gone out to find some poor woodland beast to fight while Aarona had decided to to join Ban and King in their fight practice, she had said something about toughing the two of them up before their next fight but Brooke knew that was just code for her wanting to beat the crap out of someone. Brooke had decided to head down the hill to where a few rivers were, hoping for some peace and quiet.

When Brooke had gotten to the bottom of the hill, she saw Meliodas standing on a boulder, stick in hand. In front of him the ground and the mountain had been cut clean in half. As she got closer she could hear him muttering something.

"When shooting stars fill the night sky in the form of crosses-"

"Britannia will face it's most desperate hour." Brooke finished, getting Meliodas' attention. "A dreadful prophecy don't you think? What do you think it's referring to, a second Holy War perhaps?"

"That's the only meaning I can think of." Meliodas said, his tone lacking it's usual pep. "We need to get ready."

"That's easier said than done. There are only a few people alive that know of the destruction the Holy War caused, or the suffering that followed." Brooke crouched down next to a small pool of water, her reflection looking back up at her. "Of all the lives lost."

Over in the forest, Ban, King, and Aarona were taking turns fighting each other.

"Come on, you two! At this rate I would of demolished the both of you and taken over all of Britannia! You guys need to step it up!" Aarona exclaimed from the sidelines. She had just fought Ban and was now subjected to sitting on the sidelines as King and Ban duked it out. "King, you're not taking this seriously! Ban can't die, right? So strike like you're trying to kill him!"

"And why should I be doing that?" King asked, leaning back in the air and placing his hands behind his head.

"I want to get better fast. I gotta crush the Holy Knights and take back the kingdom as quick as we can." Suddenly Ban disappeared from his spot and reappeared behind King, grabbing his head and sending him flying towards the ground. Luckily the smaller boy had managed to catch himself before his face made contact with Earth.

"You wanna take back the kingdom, huh? Never thought I'd hear you say that." He said as he adjusted to float in an upright position. "I always figured you didn't care about anybody but yourself."

"And weren't you kind of the same way too?" Ban asked.

"I suppose so. But in my case I happen to have a special objective which is to help Diane out." King said, converting his spear back into a pillow and laying back on it.

"I have one of those too." Ban said, and both Aarona and King looked over at him. "Save the kingdom, then I can take the Horn of Cernunnos. Seems like a pretty good reward to me."

At that Aarona sputtered, "You seriously want to take the Horn of Cernunnos?! As in the same ritual device that will let you talk to the Goddess clan?"

"The very same." Ban said.

Aarona looked at the man in front of her, recognizing the look on his face. "You want to ask them to bring someone back to life, don't you?"

"What- how did you-?" Ban asked, looking over at Aarona with slight surprise.

The shorter girl let out a small sigh as she crossed her arms and leaned against a tree. "I've seen the same look on my brother's face many times before. If you believe that retrieving the Horn of Cernunnos will bring back the one you love then you're an absolute fool. The Goddess' are all liars who won't even attempt to lift a pinkie to help you. They're all filled with empty promises and don't care about any race other than themselves." She spat and from where they were standing both Ban and King could see the hatred and anger swimming around in her golden eyes.

"I don't care, if there's even a slight chance of brining back Elaine I have to try!" Ban shouted as a look of anger crossed his face.

Aarona narrowed her eyes and let out a dry laugh. "If you still think they'll help you then you're already a lost cause. Don't come crying to me when they ask you for something drastic in return." She pushed herself off of the tree she was leaning on and started to walk away. "You two have fun training. I have some steam I need to blow off before I kill someone." With that Aarona walked back into the forest, listening as the two of them continued on with their sparring match.
