1- How could I forget?
Serenity sat on her couch looking through her and Warren's wedding albums, and thinking back to the day she married him, two years ago. Tears slowly strolled down her cheeks as she looked at each picture, reminiscing about that very special day. How he rented the island and made sure it was the perfect setting. Then thought about their beautiful wedding vows, the I do's, and how for their reception, he rented a yacht, and how elegantly beautiful and romantic it was. The longer she flipped through the pages, and seeing how happy they were then, she felt she couldn't look anymore at their most happiest time, and sighed heavily while closing the photo album. She looked down at the pile of albums sitting on the coffee table, and picked up another one, this time grabbing an album labeled random pictures. It was one she didn't recognize, and knew it had to be Warren's.
She was about to open the album, but closed it quickly when she heard someone walk up from behind her. She quickly turned around while wiping away the tears that were messing up her makeup, thinking Warren was finally home. Seeing who it was, she felt bummed, saddened, and turned back around, taking a deep breath, "What did you need, Parker?" she quietly asked her butler. She didn't want him seeing her cry, and for him to report it back to Warren, if that's what he did.
He cleared his throat, and stood straighter, "This just arrived for you ma'am," he says, walking around the couch, and handing her a large box.
She took the box from his hands, pushed the album that was on her lap away, and set the box on her lap. "Thank you, Parker, you may leave now," she says, staring at the large rectangular box that was nicely wrapped, and tied with a big red bow.
She knew immediately it was from Warren, since that was the only person who would be sending her any gifts, but wondered why he would send it now, and not just hand it to her when he got home. Especially since he wouldn't be home for another two days, and whatever he sent her, which most likely is a dress judging by the box, she thought, would do her no good at this moment. She felt all it would do would hurt her even more, and debated about opening it to see what he sent her this time, causing her to stare at it even longer.
She sighed, and slowly unraveled the bow, slid it off the box, then lifted the top off the box, setting it down beside her. She then removed the white tissue that laid on top, covering what was underneath, and gasped when she saw a rose lying in the center of the box over a black chiffon dress. She covered her mouth, and picked up the single red rose, smelling it. Her eyes closed as she smelled the flower, remembering all the times he used to bring her red roses home after being gone on flight, then opened her eyes, and looked down wanting to see what he picked out this time. As she lifted the dress to see, the box fell to the ground, and she kicked it off to the side.
She liked the v neck, open back look of the dress, and then noticed the long slit along down the side of the dress. She then wondered why he sent her something so elegant, if she couldn't even wear it for another couple days. She heard footsteps behind her, lowered the dress, and froze. She could hear the footsteps coming closer to her, and was about to tell Parker to go away, until she felt someone lean over the couch, pick up the red rose she had sitting beside her, and held it underneath her nose. "Hello Serenity, my beautiful wife, hope you like your new dress."
A gasp escaped her lips, surprised to hear his voice, and closed her eyes wanting to smile, "I do," she whispered, thinking this was all a dream.
He kissed her on the cheek, and whispered in her ear, "Go try it on, I've got plans for us tonight."
Her heart was beating fast, and then she suddenly felt numb. She couldn't believe he was home, and couldn't believe he was there for their second year wedding anniversary. She turned her head to the side, rolled her eyes up to see if it was really him, then looked down away from him, and looked back to the dress she was holding in her hands. "I thought you forgot what day it was."
"How could I forget?" he asked, sounding surprised. "It's our anniversary, I wouldn't forget that."
"But, you're never home this early... you're two days early."
He rolled himself over the couch, crushing the top of the box she had set beside her, and pulled her into his arms. "I took this day off months ago, now go get dressed. I'd like to see what it looks like on you before we head out," he says, pulling her in for a kiss. She missed being in his arms, the feeling of his lips against hers, and then felt like she forgot how to kiss since he had been gone for nearly three weeks.
She felt her inner core becoming more excited and deepened the kiss, forgetting he was ever gone, then hesitantly released her lips from his, and rested her forehead against his, "I missed you."
"I know you did, and I missed you too," he says, rubbing her back, making her feel like she missed him even more.
With her being in his arms, and the way he moved his hands along her back, had her feeling she didn't want to move. She wanted to stay right there, and felt she could stay in his arms all night. But then remembered him saying he was taking her out, and wanted her to try on what he bought her, "I better go try on this dress."
She released herself from his embrace, grabbed the dress, then quickly headed for their bedroom, nearly sprinting her way there from the excitement of him being home early, and that he'll be taking her out. Something she wasn't expecting. She laid the dress on the bed, and stared at the dress while she undressed. After trying on the dress, she walked over to her life size oval mirror that was next to the window, and looked at herself, posing in different directions to see what the dress looked like from the side, and her back. She loved it, and felt beautiful wearing it. She had dresses similar to the one she had on, but nothing that exposed her entire back, and showing off her lower back dimples.
Warren walked into the room, and over to her, placing his hands on her shoulders, and looking at her through the mirror. "You're still just as beautiful as the first day I laid my eyes on you. Do you remember that night?"
Her hands reached up to his, held them, and smiled as she looked at him through the mirror, thinking the same as he, that he's still just as hot as the first time she laid her eyes on him, "I do, I remember it very well," she said with a sparkle in her eye, and a smile that made him smile back. Just like the first day we met, she thought after seeing him smile back at her.
He slid her hair to the side, and leaned down placing kisses along her neck, giving her goosebumps. Her eyes closed the moment she felt her insides flutter, and spun around with her arms up in the air, pulling him in for a long, passionate kiss. "I wish you weren't gone so much," she moaned into his mouth. "I can't take being alone any longer, it's depressing," she panted when his lips left hers, and back over to her neck, while his hands cupped, and massaged her breasts.
"Sorry Hun, but how do you think the bills are getting paid around here? It's not cheap living in a home like this."
"You can always find a new job, one where you're home every day," she whispered, with her eyes still closed from the enjoyment of his touch, and making her feel wanted again.
He ignored what she said, and stepped back, adjusting himself, and looked at her through the mirror, "We better hurry, Benson is out there waiting for us."
"I haven't even finished doing my hair, or makeup," she said, sounding worried, and rushing over to her lowboy, pulling the makeup out of the drawer that she wanted to wear, and rolled her eyes over to him through the mirror to see what kind of expression he had on his face. Just like she thought, it was the typical man look, annoyed that a woman has to paint her face before going anywhere out in public.
He looked into the air, and rested his hands on his hips, "Well, hurry up. I need to go have a word with Parker anyway, and will be waiting for you in the living room."
She rolled her eyes, Parker, Parker, Parker... she muttered underneath her breath. She was really beginning not to like Parker, and wasn't liking he was always finding a way to be around her, and whenever Trent, her piano instructor came over for her piano lessons, Parker was always coming into the room interrupting them, or would stand by the door, listening to every conversation they ever talked about. She wasn't sure if Parker had a thing for her, if it was all Warren's doing making him do that, or if it was only her being paranoid.
She finished doing her hair, and touching up her make up, then looked inside her closet, looking for her black pumps with three inch heels. Being that she was feeling on top of the world with Warren home, she felt like being even taller, and more closer to Warren's height. Plus, with the long slit down the side of her dress, she knew the high heels would accent the look of her legs.
She walked into the living room, and Warren was no where to be seen, then headed into the kitchen thinking he was getting himself something to drink, and saw both Esther, and Harriet cooking. "Oh, I'm sorry ladies, did Warren not fill you ladies in? He's home, and is taking me out to dinner for our anniversary," she said, walking over to them, and feeling bad they were cooking when they didn't need to be.
"He's told us, we're just baking some pies that Warren asked us to make," Harriet said, smiling.
Serenity walked closer, and rested her hands on top of the center island, watching Harriet prepare the dough, while Esther made the filling. "What kind of pies are you two making?"
"Apple pie, as well as a blueberry pie," Esther said, reaching the spoon out to her, "Would you like to try a taste?" She looked down at the spoon, and saw it had blueberries on it, and shook her head no. She never did care for blueberries, or any kind of pie for that matter, and was surprised Warren wanted them to bake pies, when he himself wasn't a pie eater.
"No thank you," she said politely, standing up straight, then looked at the two curiously. "Have you two recently seen Warren? I was supposed to meet him in the living room after I finished getting ready, and he wasn't there."
"No, sorry, last we saw of him, was when he was walking in the front door."
"Okay... I know he mentioned he needed to talk to Parker, but I didn't think it would take this long. If he happens to come in here, let him know I'm waiting where he asked." She turned around and walked out. Just as she walked into the living room, and sat down on the couch, Warren came up from behind her, and leaned over the couch, and into her ear, speaking lowly, "Ready? We must get going, Benson has been waiting for us for quite a while now."
As she walked around the couch and over to him, he placed his hand on her upper back between the shoulder blades, and walked her outside to the limo, opening the back door for her. "So, where are you taking me?" she asked, as he sat down next to her.
'You'll see."
He moved over to the other seat across from her, grabbed a bottle of champagne and popped the cork, pouring them each a glass, then sat down next to her, holding her glass out for her to take. "It feels nice to see you again, and like it's been forever since we last saw each other," he says, leaning forward and placing a kiss on her lips. "Let's have a good night tonight, sound good?"
"Sounds good to me, but it still would be nice to know where you're taking me," she sighed, taking a sip of her champagne.
He sat back in the seat, and wrapped his arm around her while sipping on his glass of champagne. He didn't want to spoil her surprise, and remained tight lipped. As much as she was happy to see him, she felt something was missing, or different about him. Out of curiosity, she discreetly looked over to her side to where his hand was resting over her shoulder, and looked to see if he was still wearing his wedding ring.
She felt relieved to see it was on his finger, even thought that didn't mean much. She still felt there was something different about him, something she couldn't put her finger on. She noticed how he was acting a little different, but then felt it was because of him being gone for so long, tired, and or wore out, from all the flying he had been doing. She couldn't even keep track anymore on where he flew each time he was gone. It was always all over the place, from one end of the country, to the other, and spending a night here or there in that city, or country, until his next flight out.
Once Benson pulled up to the restaurant to drop them off, her eyes lit up, and quickly looked at Warren with widened eyes, "Here? You're bringing me here? This restaurant is the hardest place in the United States to get into, how on earth did you manage that?" she asked, as he opened the door.
He chuckled while getting out of the limo, and held out his hand for her to grab, helping her out. "I know it is, and that's why I made reservations months ago, hence the reason why I took this night off work... I may be gone a lot, and busy, but I never forget anything special, not this," he says, placing his hand on the small of her back, and began walking her into the restaurant. They walked over to the hostess to check themselves in, and once he told the hostess who he was, her mouth dropped, and grabbed the menus right away.
"Follow me, please," she says excitedly, and walked them over to their table. "Per your request."
She placed them at a table next to the window, to where you could see the view of the Los Angeles buildings all lit up, and the mountains peeking behind them. The table was romantically set with white linen, a bottle of fine red wine, a beautiful bouquet of red roses, and a candle lit in the center of the table. "Why did she do that?" Serenity quietly asked, leaning forward after the waitress walked away.
Warren set his menu down, and tilted his head to the side, looking confused. "Why did who, do what?"
"The hostess, her mouth dropped the moment you said who you were... have you been here before?"
"Oh, I guess I didn't even notice," he said, picking back up his menu, and looking at it. "And no, I've never been here before."
She looked back at her menu, and not one menu item had a price next to it. She slowly rolled her eyes up to look at Warren, then back down at the menu, slightly shrugging her shoulder, and thinking screw it, I'll order whatever I want. He owes me this night. After seeing what she wanted to order, she set her menu down, and started looking around the place. Her eyebrows formed together, confused at why the place was empty, then started thinking maybe the place wasn't as good as what people said it was, and became nervous about ordering anything off the menu.
Warren set his menu down, and picked up his glass of wine while looking at her. He noticed the look on her face, and was curious to what was on her mind. "Why do you have that look on you?"
"Because, I just realized we're the only ones here. Is there something wrong with the place?"
"No." he chuckled, setting his glass down, then looked away from her when the waitress came back to take their order.
During their meal, Serenity was quiet as she ate. She had so much on her mind that she wanted to talk with Warren about, and wasn't sure how to bring it up. Just as they finished eating, his phone rang. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, looked to see who was calling, and stopped the phone from ringing, then placed it back inside his jacket packet.
"Sorry about that, I turned the phone off. We won't get interrupted the rest of the night," he says, reaching for her hands.
"Who was that?"
"Work."
Oh, she mouthed. Then became quiet as she thought more about what she had on her mind. She then finally got the nerve to bring it up, and squeezed his hands tighter as she looked him in the eyes.
"Warren... I've been thinking a lot lately, and I know we've talked about this before. But with you being gone all the time, I've been feeling extremely lonely, depressed, and feel I need something else to keep me busy, and my mind off missing you."
"What's that?" he asked, sounding a tad bit annoyed.
"Well... I've thought long, and hard about this, and I think what will help me with my being alone all the time is if we were to start a family. I want us to start trying for a baby... what are your thoughts?"
Ok, just one teaser chapter, then there will be a little wait until I start posting every day.
