Chapter 9

  Adrien's  POV:

He was at a photo shoot when she showed up. He thought she looked familiar. He had never met her, but she looked much like Ladybug. Who was she? After his photo shoot, he decided he wanted to ask her out, for a donut.

He smiled when he saw her. It was nice to have someone cute around for a change. It sure made the photo shoot less boring. He sighed a sigh of relief when Vincent told him he was free to go for the day.

He looked around for the bluenette, but she was nowhere to be found. Where did she go? Why did not she stick around?  He was disappointed.  He wanted to know her name and find out if she knew Ladybug. Now, he would have to wait for some other time.

He went home feeling bummed out about the whole thing. He found out from Nino after texting him that the girl he saw staring at him during the photoshoot was Marinette Dupain-Cheng and that she was friends with Nino's fiance, Alya.

At least now he knows her name, Marinette. What a lovely name, he thought.

He hoped the next time, he saw her that she would not run off so quickly. It would be nice to talk to her. Had he seen her before?

He sent another text to Nino asking him, where he could find out more about this Marinette.

Nino texted him back that Marinette lived above the Dupain-Cheng bakery in town. He also told him she is Jagged Stone's fan and likes to sew.

Adrien wondered, what had brought Marinette to his photo shoot.   He was sure that she had not been there before today.  He did not tell Nino that he suspected Marinette was the same woman who stalked him.   He also left out the part where the woman in spandex kissed him or that he had kissed her.

"Adrien, take a look at the paper, and explain the photo on the front cover," His father said as soon as he arrived home.

Adrien took the paper from his father. He gasped when he saw the picture of him kissing Ladybug. someone had spied on him and taken the photo. Who?   How?

"Father, it is none of your business," He said. "Wrong answer, as long as you live here, you answer to me," His father said.

*Author's note: Adrien is not Chat Noir as Plagg is not a kwami. He is a real cat. The only hero in Paris in the story is Ladybug. She works alone. Also, in this fanfiction story, Adrien's father is not Hawkmoth, he is an ordinary citizen who works on a line of fashionable clothes and tries to keep his son out of the headlines. His wife, Emilie died, of natural causes when Adrien was a child. His father was married to Nathalie when Adrien was eight years old.

This book is not the show and is meant to be different.

"You also have to answer to me too," Nathalie said.

"Yes, father, and stepmother," Adrien said. He went to his room unsure why his father and stepmother only let him leave for photoshoots. He only had Nino as a friend, because his father was a chef in a restaurant and his mother was the manager.

*Author's note: His father and stepmother approved of Nino because of his parents.  They dislike  Chole Bougerious because she is a whiny brat. They also dislike Lila Rossi because she lies, her father is a member of the mafia and her mother is an assassin. Nino Lahaffe and Alya Cesarie are Adrien's only friends approved.

Adrien sat on his bed, petted Plagg, and sighed. He hated this life. Why did he always need their approval for friends? Sure he was glad Nino and Alya were his friends, but it was not the same. He knew the truth behind why they stuck around.

He wanted to have a friend he made himself. He didn't want to wait for his parents to approve someone else based on their parent's jobs or status in life.

He sighed. Too bad, Ladybug had not come today. Why was that?  Was it because of the paper?  Was she ashamed of the kiss? Did she regret it?
