Christmas Bonus!

So it's 1:30 in the morning on Christmas day and I'm wrapping my dad's Christmas gift because I'm just so well prepared (not) and for some reason I got the idea for this little bonus chapter, sort of a sneak peak into the sequel, about what it's like for Sam and Dylan in the first year of their marriage. Noah and Jake are in high school, Ethan and Colton are out of college, Adam's a dad, but Dylan and Sam still seem perfectly normal. Here's a little bit of the Peters Family for your Christmas...

Bonus Christmas Chapter

"Babe come on!" Dylan called down the hall, sounding extremely impatient.

"Do you mind? I'm busy!" I yelled through the bathroom door, staring intently at the stick in my hand.

"Sam..." Dylan whined. "Presents..."

"Stop acting like you're five!" I laughed, closing my eyes as if it would make the time pass quicker.

I heard Dylan groan as he walked away from the bathroom door.

I shook my head, trying to be optimistic about what I was about to see. Sure, it was only two weeks after our wedding and we'd only just gotten home from our honeymoon two days ago, but this had to be positive.

After years and years of using protection, wouldn't my body jump at the opportunity to finally make a baby?

I felt my phone buzz on the counter, signaling that the time was up.

With a grin, I looked down at the stick, ready to see that I was pregnant.

How amazing would it be to give this to Dylan as a Christmas present?

My heart sunk to the floor when I saw the little line on the stick that stated I was still without child...

"Oh screw you." I muttered to the stick as I wrapped it in toilet paper and tossed it in the trash.

I mean, I could still be pregnant, maybe it just wasn't registering on the test yet...

Yea, that's what it was. Most likely.

I washed my hands, already hearing Dylan impatiently calling for me.

"Babe would you chill? You're not always like this on Christmas?" I laughed, raising my eyebrows as I joined him in the small living room of our apartment.

He grinned excitedly as I sat down next to him on the couch.

"Here." He said, handing me the stack of presents that were addressed to me.

"We'll do it like we always do?" I raised my eyebrows.

Dylan nodded. "You first." He said, suddenly seeming extremely calm as he leaned back against the couch.

We went back and forth opening up our gifts from other people.

My parents bought me a cook book. How polite. My sisters bought me a scarf and a fancy watch that I'd definitely be wearing a lot.

Andrew gave me a huge box of merchandise from his talk show, literally only merchandise. I now was the proud owner of many mugs, tshirts, baseball caps, and a calendar of the Up To Date With Andrew show. All that was in the box was a little card with a winky face on it. I knew it was payback. For our birthday I'd gotten him a t-shirt with my face on it.

Nate sent me a pair of football tickets for when the Seattle Seahawks played the Detroit Lions, I guess I'd be going to see that game, considering he played for the Seahawks. Hannah sent me a postcard and a little bracelet with charms all about London on it. She'd been working there as a nanny for the past few years. We didn't hear much from her.

Ryan and Lacey sent me and Dylan a pair of matching coffee mugs with our initials on them.

"Aw how cute." Dylan said sarcastically as he took the mugs into his hand.

"Shut up, I actually think it's nice of them." I rolled my eyes.

Our other friends hadn't sent us gifts, but that was understandable. Despite them being in our wedding party, we weren't as close with Matt, Jess, Caleb, and Annabelle, they were our 'second string' friends as Dylan called them. And Luke, well nobody has seen Luke since graduation day...

Coach and Marissa bought me a very nice coach purse. It wasn't my style but it was the thought that counted.

Andrew got him a snow globe with the Chicago skyline inside. Dylan grimaced, but promised that he'd thank Andrew like he meant it.

Other than that, the rest of our gifts were pretty much together. Nate's football tickets were for the two of us. Ryan and Lacey's mugs were for the two of us. Hannah didn't send Dylan a gift, which he pretended to be hurt when I knew he could care less. And then Coach and Marissa got him some book on philosophy that we both knew he'd never read.

"Okay you go first." Dylan grinned once only our presents for each other were left on our laps.

"No, no you go first." I shook my head, grinning at him.

"Ladies first." Dylan replied, giving me a look.

"I insist." I rolled my eyes.

Dylan crossed his arms, but so did I.

At this rate, we'd be sitting here for the rest of the day.

"Fine." Dylan gave in, beginning to tear the paper off of the box.

I was extremely proud with the gift, considering he was in desperate need of it.

His eyes widened when he looked at what he was holding in his hand.

"A MacBook?!" He gasped. "What the hell Sam!"

"For your writing. If you're going to write books as good as your first one, then you better do it on an actual functioning machine and not that ancient HP that smokes when you use it too much." I laughed, amused by how excited he was.

"You didn't- Holy shit." Dylan grinned, leaning forwards to give me a hug. "Man, I love you." Dylan laughed, kissing my cheek.

"Only because I bought you the MacBook?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Pretty much." Dylan winked. "Okay now your turn."

I flashed him a smile before opening up the heavy box in my hands.

I felt a laugh escape my lips as I saw what was in the box.

"We bought each other the same gift." I laughed, looking at the MacBook on my own lap.

"I didn't know you were buying me one." Dylan admitted, his cheeks turning pink.

I laughed again, leaning forwards to kiss him.

"Great minds think alike, my darling." I winked. "But hey! We can be those adorable Tumblr couples with matching MacBooks."

Dylan raised his eyebrows. "I don't go on Tumblr, babe, you know that." He laughed.

I shrugged. "Whatever." I laughed. I happened to glance at the clock, and my eyes widened.

"Holy shit we have to leave for your parents' house in an hour!" I exclaimed, jumping up. "Clean up the wrapping paper!" I yelled over my shoulder as I ran to the bathroom.

"But I have to shower too!" Dylan protested.

"You don't have hair to dry!" I called back as I shut the door.

One very chaotic hour later, Dylan and I were getting out of the car in the driveway of his parents' home. They still lived in the same house that they did when they first moved here, and the garage was now used as a guest house...

I was wearing a small red dress, black tights, and black heels. My hair was curled and pulled back with a little white bow. Dylan was in a regular white dress shirt with a fancy sports coat and khaki pants.

We looked quite stylish together.

"You'll be drinking?" Dylan raised his eyebrows at me.

I shook my head. "No you can drink. I'll drive home." I smiled. "I can't drink if I'm trying to get pregnant, silly."

"Still no baby?"

"Still no baby." I shook my head as he knocked on the door.

"It's fine, we'll get there." Dylan smiled, kissing my forehead.

"Ew gross get a room, losers." Noah laughed as he opened the door.

I rolled my eyes at the 16 year old boy, playfully shoving his shoulder as I stepped inside the familiar house.

"I liked you better as a 7 year old with a broken arm who thought I was the coolest person in the world." I admitted, shrugging off my black jacket.

"And I liked you better as a 17 year old girl living in my brother's room who would give me food whenever I wanted." Noah shot back, taking my coat for me.

"At least he's a gentleman." Dylan teased, tossing his coat over Noah's head. "He makes a decent coat rack."

"Mom! They're doing it already!" Noah yelled.

"Dylan be nice to your brother!" Kate called from the kitchen with a laugh.

"Merry Christmas Auntie Sam!" Adam's two year old daughter said excitedly, running up to me.

"Grace! You've gotten so big!" I exclaimed, pulling the girl up into my arms.

"Hey Sam." Josie smiled, appearing around the corner with their newborn son on her hip. "Long time no see." She winked.

It had only been two weeks since everyone was together for our wedding.

"Definitely." I laughed, giving her a hug.

"Dylan! Get in here and watch me kick dad's ass in FIFA!" Ethan yelled from the other room.

"We finally fixed our Wii and since the twins are home it's been all about FIFA." Freddie informed me as I walked into the kitchen. He was leaning against the counter, drinking a glass of wine.

"Ah." I laughed, setting down the two year old girl. "Merry Christmas." I smiled, giving Kate a hug. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Don't you lift a finger." Kate shook her head. "Go on in the other room with everybody. And bring Freddie with you, he's bugging me." Kate teased, giving her 22 year old son a wink.

"Love you too, mom." Freddie rolled his eyes, turning to walk into the living room.

I followed him in, my face breaking into a smile at the sight of the Peters family.

No matter how old I got, I knew that I'd always love this family to death.

Whether it was 17 year old me living in their garage, or 27 year old me standing in their living room for my first Christmas as a married woman, or 77 year old me sitting around with our grandkids, this was by far the best family I could ever ask for.

"Sammy!" Jake said excitedly, jumping up from the couch. I laughed as he gave me a big hug. "How was the honeymoon? Get much sleep? Doubt it." Jake teased.

"Jacob, watch your mouth." Rob hissed as he focused intently on the game that he was losing to his 25 year old son. Colton was watching anxiously, cheering on his twin brother in anticipation.

Something told me that they had money bet on it, or else Rob wouldn't look like he was about to have a heart attack.

Brian was standing in the back of the room, talking softly to Adam. They looked like they were in an intense conversation, and as much as I was curious to know what was going on, I walked over to Dylan and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"I love you." He whispered to me.

"I love you more." I giggled.

"Merry Christmas baby." He smiled, rubbing my arms with his hands.

"You too." I grinned, looking up at him.

"Alright! Everybody wash up! Lunch is on the table!" Kate announced.

"Just five more minute of the game! Ethan's gonna beat dad's as-"

"Wash up. Now." Kate demanded, turning off the TV.

A loud protest of groans and indecent words spread from the group of angry boys, Rob included, but Kate just shook her head and walked back into the kitchen.

"Christmas is a family day!" Kate called back.

"But we are bonding! We're kicking dad's butt in FIFA!" Ethan laughed as he stood up from the couch.

"Boys, you heard your mother, wash up." Rob instructed, despite the fact that he looked annoyed himself.

I couldn't help but be amused that 10 years later, with a house filled with guys in their 20s, they still acted like they did in high school...

Some things just never change, and this is something that I don't want to.

~*~*~

Lunch was exactly like I'd expected.

The typical rambunctious characteristics of the Peters family while Kate tries to keep everything under control but Jake and Ethan manage to find a way to create chaos.

I was mesmerized by the adorableness of Logan, Adam's baby son, and how cute his older sister was with him.

"So Sam, when are you and Dylan gonna start having babies?" Noah asked from across the table.

Kate just let out a groan, completely fed up with the behavior of her sons already.

I put a smile on my face.

"When are you gonna start passing your classes?" I raised my eyebrows, receiving laughter from everyone at the table except for Noah.

He just glared at me, sinking low in his chair.

"Don't rush them to have kids they've only been married two weeks." Jake laughed, giving his younger brother a look.

"Yea but we all know they've been screwing since high school so why not-"

"Noah!" Kate exclaimed. "For heavens sake don't speak that way on Christmas!"

Noah just laughed, taking a bite of his mashed potatoes.

"Sorry, ma." Noah gave her a sarcastic smile.

I just shook my head, exchanging an amused look with Dylan.

That boy was insane... Noah had definitely grown up from the adorable little 7 year old, and he was an obnoxious, sarcastic 16 year old now...

I'd heard things from the other teachers at West High, and I was beyond glad that I didn't have him in any of my classes this year.

But the sad thing is that he's still got two more years of high school where I could potentially have him in a class. Jake, I wouldn't mind, he's a good student. But Noah, oh boy would I get a run for my money if he was ever on my class list...

After dinner we played the usual game of catch phrase, Dylan and I kicked ass as always, and then things started to wind down.

Jake disappeared to his girlfriend's house, Noah went upstairs to his bedroom, Colton and Ethan went to see old friends, Adam and Josie headed home with the kids, Brian and Freddie sat down to a very intense game of Chess, Rob and Kate cleaned up the dining room, while Dylan and I made our excuses as to why we had to go back to the apartment.

"There's still one little part of your Christmas gift that I haven't quite given you yet..." Dylan said with a grin as he turned the opposite way out of the driveway as he should for us to go home.

I raised my eyebrows at him.

"What is it?" I laughed.

"Be patient." Dylan rolled his eyes.

It only took about 5 minutes of driving until he pulled into a driveway of a beautiful, two story house.

"Who lives here?" I frowned, looking at my husband.

Husband. I love saying that. Husband.

Dylan held up a key in his hand, a twinkling look in his eye.

"Welcome home, darling."

I gasped, my eyes widening.

"We got a house!" I exclaimed.

"We got a house." Dylan confirmed, nodding his head.
