Chapter 8
Chapter 8
“Ma we’re home! It’s smells amazing!” He called, walking inside with me. A little boy ran around the corner.
“Dylan!” He said happily.
“Hey bud.” Dylan said, scooping up the young boy. It was Noah, because he had a bright green cast on his arm.
“How’s the arm feeling today?” Dylan asked.
“Better. It itches real bad though.” Noah frowned.
“Well I have someone I want you to meet.” Dylan smiled, looking at me.
“Hey. I’m Sam.” I said to the younger boy. He resembled Dylan so much it was amazing.
“Do you want to see my legos?! I got new ones today! Jake and I were building them!” Noah said, squirming out of his brother’s grip.
“How about we play with you and Jake after dinner, kay? I want to introduce Sam to mommy. I really really want her to like her.” Dylan said, bending down to Noah. “So go play and we’ll see you at dinner.”
Noah nodded and ran off. Dylan stood up back up to me.
“He’s so cute!” I exclaimed, squeezing his hand as he held it.
“Oh he’s acting for you.” Dylan laughed. “Ma? You in there?”
“Yea right here honey!” A woman called. I followed Dylan into the kitchen and he smiled at an older looking woman. She looked to be in her late forties or so. She had blonde curly hair, pulled up into a ponytail, with loose bits hanging all around. She was wearing an apron, and looked seriously tired out. But she looked happy, and that made me smile.
“How’d the game go?” She asked, smiling at both of us.
“We won. 6-3.” Dylan said.
“Close one.” She commented.
“Hi Mrs. Peters. I’m Sam, it’s nice to meet you.” I said, holding out my hand.
“Oh don’t be silly give me a hug. And you can call me Kate.” She smiled, pulling me into a hug.
“Hi.” I laughed.
“So Dylan tells me you’re quite the quarterback.” Kate said, pulling back from me. I looked at Dylan.
“Oh you did, did you?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. “You’re not supposed to tell anyone I’m a girl.” I said, poking his stomach.
“I told my mom about the amazing girl that I was head over heels for that was the quarterback on my team, not about the quarterback on my team that’s a girl.” Dylan said. Kate and I just looked at him, confused.
“It sounded better in my head gosh.” Dylan defended himself. “But I think she’s allowed to know, after all, her son is dating the girl.”
“Okay whatever.” I laughed. “But yea, I’m on the team with him.”
“I’ll have to try to get all of the boys to a game sometimes. Anyways, Dylan sweetie can you set the table?” Kate said.
“Of course.” Dylan smiled.
“I’ll help.” I grinned.
“Oh don’t be silly, you sit here I want to get to know you better.” Kate smiled. Dylan gave her a weird look.
“Honey you boys haven’t brought a girl home since Josie.” Kate said.
“Josie?” I asked.
“Adam’s fiancé.” Dylan answered, setting plates on the table.
“Oh yea you told me about her.” I said.
“So! What’s your family like?” Kate asked.
“I have 4 sisters. 2 older, 2 younger.” I sighed. “I’m right in the middle.”
“I have 4 sisters also. But I’m the baby.” Kate smiled.
I just nodded.
“Uh... My dad’s the governor, and my mom works for Syco records...” I said, looking down at my hands.
Kate’s jaw dropped.
“Syco Records? As in One Direction?” Kate asked.
I laughed. I loved how she associated them with Syco Records.
“Yea.” I smiled.
“Oh yea! Your sisters are all like really really talented in all that girly shit?” Kate asked.
I grinned.
“I like you.” I giggled. “Yea they dance and sing and act and then I’m the messed up one who likes to get tackled by 200 pound guys.” I laughed.
“Well then, dinner won’t be much... and it’s probably not what you’re used to but-”
“Ma!” Dylan said harshly.
“No it’s fine. I love home made meals. I’m sure this will be wonderful. Fancy meals get gross after a while.” I said, smiling at her. “I much prefer going to the team’s houses for dinner than my own.”
“Mmm something smells wonderful.” Someone said, walking into the kitchen. An older man, who looked exactly like Dylan kissed Kate on the cheek and turned to me.
“You must be the quarterback.” He grinned.
“Jesus Dylan what’d you do? Tell the whole country?” I laughed.
Dylan just rolled his eyes and I turned to his dad. “You must be Mr. Peters.” I laughed, holding out my hand to shake his. Same as Kate, he pulled me into a hug and told me to call him Rob.
“I saw the game today! Your last pass was amazing! It went right to your receiver!” Rob said, shrugging his coat off and putting it on the back of a chair. I just smiled.
“Thanks.” I laughed.
“Dylan go call your brothers to the table.” Kate said as Rob sat down. She started putting dishes on the table and Dylan stuck his head out of the kitchen. “DINNER!” He yelled.
There was the sound of a scramble, and 4 boys ran into the kitchen and took their seats.
“Come on next to me.” Dylan said, holding out his hand. I smiled and sat down next to him at the table. Noah was sitting on my left. Kate sat down and shot a look at a boy as he tried to take a bread roll early.
“Jake, wait until everyone’s here.” Kate said.
There was the sound of rushed feet and someone ran into the kitchen.
“Sorry sorry.” He said, sitting next to his double. I figured that was Ethan, because the one sitting down already had glasses.
“Alright. Foods up.” Kate said. I laughed at how crazy it was. Everyone was reaching for stuff, piling their plates.
Dylan put some of the spaghetti on my plate for me, and I managed to get myself some salad and bread.
“Water or orange juice?” Dylan asked after pouring himself some water.
“Water please.” I smiled. Dylan filled up my glass and smiled at me.
“So you’re Sam?” One of the twins said.
“Yes. And you’re Colton?” I asked. The twin nodded.
“Yes.” I said, looking at Dylan. “See. I told you I’d know them.”
“Yay!” Dylan said softly. I laughed and took a bite of my spaghetti.
“So Sam, have you lived in Michigan your whole life?” Rob asked.
“Almost. I was born in Italy, but we moved back here when I was 2 or 3.” I smiled.
“You were born in Italy?” Ethan asked. “That’s so cool!”
I laughed and nodded.
“Yea.” I smiled. “What about you guys? Have you lived in Colorado?”
“No Rob and I grew up in Ann Arbor, and we moved out to Colorado with the kids just after Dylan was born, and now we’re back.” Kate smiled.
“Ah so I take it you both went to Michigan?” I asked.
“Oh yea.” Rob said.
“Go blue.” I laughed. I took a sip of water.
“So. What are your plans for college?” Kate asked.
“Ma. Chill. We’re only 17.” Dylan laughed.
“Hey. You know you want to go to Michigan.” Kate said, defending herself. I laughed.
“I’d love to go to Michigan. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor.” I smiled.
“Won’t you go on to play football?” Rob asked.
“I would... But I really want to go to a big 10 school and I obviously won’t be on any football team there.” I explained.
“But some scouts from Michigan came to the game today, and they did say that Sam played really really well.” Dylan smiled.
“Thinking I was a boy.” I added.
The rest of dinner was filled with fun, random conversations. I really really liked this family.
“Can we go play legos now?” Noah asked me.
“Of course.” I said, standing up as everyone else did. “Kate do you want any help cleaning up?” I smiled.
“Oh no sweetie, you go on and play with the kids.”
“Thank you so much dinner.” I smiled.
“You’re welcome.”
I followed Dylan and Noah out of the kitchen and across the hall to the lego room.
“Alright Noah, Jake, you guys have 45 minutes before bed time.” Dylan said, giving them looks.
The two youngest boys nodded, and started playing with their legos. Colton, Ethan, and Freddie were playing video games, all sitting on bean bags.
“We can go upstairs to my room if you want.” Dylan shrugged.
“Are you crazy? And miss a chance to play with legos. How about no.” I laughed, sitting down next to Noah.
Dylan laughed and sat down next to me.

This chapter is pretty boring, I apologize. But I promise the story picks up in chapter 10 because a huge plot twist rocks Sam's world and lots of drama comes from *evil grin*
