Chapter 13

Chapter 13
"Again." I called, standing on the edge of the field.

"Why aren't you running?" Coach asked, walking up to me.

I felt my cheeks turn pink, but I knew that he couldn't see.

"Uh, I'm a bit sore." I mumbled.

Coach raised his eyebrows.

"I may be old and weird but I know things, alright? And you and Dylan were pretty anxious to get out of the game yesterday, and now he's acting like he owns the world and you're walking like you've got a stick in between your legs." Coach said. I gasped.

"Coach!" I yelped, my cheeks turning pink.

"Hey. I'm not judging. I'm just commenting." He laughed, holding up his hands. "Just make sure you're being careful." He said, crossing his arms.
I frowned.

"So in other words... How's your dad's campaign going?" Coach asked, smiling.

I rolled my eyes. "He's talking about not letting me play on the team next year." I grumbled.

"No way. You can not quit on me." Coach said, shaking his head.

"Hey captain, can I go pee?" Dylan asked, jogging over. I raised my eyebrows.

"I thought you had to extra sprints?" I said, crossing my arms. Dylan groaned.

"I'll do them after I have to pee." He said, bouncing up and down.

"Go." I said, laughing. Dylan grinned and ran off.

"Anyways. About your dad..." Coach said.

"I don't care what he makes me do. I'm taking my helmet off at nationals." I said seriously, blowing my whistle again. "Water." I called.

"Principal Williams will-"

"She can suck my dick." I said, shaking my head and walking over to my bag. I drank some of my water as the other guys walked over.

"Why aren't you doing anything?" Ryan grumbled.

"Because I'm not." I shrugged. "I'm tired and sore."

"What from?"

"Uh, the game?" I replied, rolling my eyes.

"Whenever we're sore you don't let us sit out!" Nate groaned.

"Trust me, Nate. If you ever feel this pain that I'm feeling, I will give you a million dollars because wow." I said, wincing as I sat down.

"You were fine this morning!" Nate exclaimed.

"Yea pain takes a while to settle in." I said, wishing I could cross my legs.

"Sorry." Dylan said, running up.

"Dylan tell Sam she's over reacting." Ryan said.

"What's she over reacting about?" Dylan asked, pulling his helmet off and running his hands through his hair.

"She said she's sore. But she didn't even get hit in the game." Nate said.

Dylan shrugged. "So. Let her be sore if she wants." Dylan laughed, picking up his water bottle.

"Alright. Let's go, we're scrimmaging." Coach said. "Sam, you just sit."

I smiled and got to relax while the other guys went out to the field.

About 5 minutes later, Dylan's phone started ringing.

I reached in his bag for it.

"Hello?" I said, answering it.

"Uh who is this?" A male voice said.

"Um this is Sam who's this?" I frowned.

"Brian... Uh, is this Dylan's phone?" The person asked.

"Yea. Oh! Aren't you one of his brothers! You're the one at U of M!" I said, smiling.

"Uh how do you know that?" Brian asked uncertainly. I just laughed.

"Noah told me all about you." I laughed.

"Oh you're Sam! The one Dylan was asking me about the other day!" Brian laughed. "How'd it go? Last night?"

"Uh he's at practice right now, but uh, do you want me to give him a message?" I asked, disregarding his annoying question.

"Yea tell him that I know you guys are off in like a month and he's coming to stay with me." Brian grinned.

"Oooh fancy. He's going to Ann Arbor?" I asked.

"Nah I'm staying in Petoskey with some friends for the week, so Dylan was going to come up. You can come too." Brian said sweetly.

"Oh thank you." I grinned. "You know, I'll tell him to call you, he's in a scrimmage right now so..."

"Aren't you on his team? Why aren't you playing?" Brian asked.

"I didn't feel like it." I laughed. "But yea I'm on the team. Uh, I'll have him call you. It was nice meeting you."

"Alright. Bye Sam."

"Bye." I smiled, then hung up.

When practice was over, I smiled at Dylan.

"Your brother called you." I said. "He's nice."

"Which one?" Dylan asked as we walked back to the locker room.

"Brian." I smiled. "He said you were going to go visit him up north."

"Oh yea! I was going to ask you last night but I completely forgot!" Dylan laughed. "Want to go on a road trip?"

"I love road trips." I grinned, giving him a wink.

"Great." He said. "Wait, do you have to ask your
parents or anything?"

"I'll tell them. Not ask." I replied as I changed into my regular clothes.

"Alrighty then." Dylan smiled.

We silently walked out to his truck, and I climbed into the passenger seat.

"So are you really that sore?" He asked, reaching over and putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Dylan... Can we not talk about this?" I muttered, feeling my cheeks turn pink.

"No. Seriously. I'm really sorry I-"

"Dylan. It couldn't have been avoided, alright?" I said, turning to look at him. "Please don't feel bad at all. It wasn't your fault. You made me feel amazing."

Dylan grinned.

"I could say the same for you." He said, brushing my hair behind my ear.

"You're too sweet."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

I leaned forwards and placed my lips on his. Dylan smiled and kissed me back.

"Alright let's go home." I grinned.
