25. A mega huge enormous time skip

1 year later:

So much happened in a year.

The funeral was held for the royals. His parents cried, but it was fake. The search for the royals was ongoing and they had not given up hope.

Calvin was going more than well in classes.

The brains section was still teaching middle school curriculum, and Calvin could easily cope up with it. He tried to keep sarcasm off his voice when someone in his class asked a particularly stupid question, because they've never been to school before.

Even then, it was impressive. They fit three years of middle school syllabus in one year, so the kids who were learning it for the first time were working hard.

Turns out, he was both a fairy and an angel. He was a weak fairy, and more of an angel. He couldn't so as good magic as his dad or Susan. But he could do small things like make objects float or summon something.

Angel senses, however, was a whole new level of power. He was really good at it, better than his mom, who was one of the best in the kingdom. His mom said the only person better than him was probably the queen.

His dad even went as far as saying that he was as good as the queen.

His angel senses sometimes came as the form of dreams, like demigods, Susan said that comes only for really powerful angels. Other times, he just gets a gut feeling. In classes, he was taught to use his fairy magic, and distinguish his normal thoughts from that of angel origin.

As his instincts became better, his sword fighting got phenomenally better too. He was, in fact, the best swordsman in their class. He could do Archery at the average level too.

He, Susan, Alex and Claire became a foursome of sorts. Susan was really good at demon slaying. He and Susan often practised at home, Susan helped him out with Archery, and Calvin taught her swordsmanship.

This ended up in both of them being the best in class. Who was better, is yet to be decided, because their win percentage is 50-50. Yes, he calculated, because he is competitive like that.

Both of them also helped Alex out with Archery. He wasn't good with it, and over time, Calvin realized that Alex was really clever, but couldn't get good marks in the test because of his dyslexia.

Calvin used google to help him with small tips, half of them were useless hacks, but some did work, and it was worth a try.

Calvin and Claire often spent the whole day 'geeking' as Susan put it, to which Calvin replied that they were greeking, to be met with blank stares.

He was now a lot of knowledgeable and informed about the elemental kingdom, and the other worlds. He read a lot. He hasn't even read 10% of their entire library, and it was still there, vast and amazing.

Calvin also grew out of his awkward nerd time. He was very popular amongst the brain class. By now, the teacher had assigned Calvin to move around the class, and help his classmates.

They were really thankful of his help and little tips and tricks, and were all very protective of him.

Even in the demon slayer class, he was popular. He was very respected in the class for his skills, and those who didn't respect him for that, tried to become his friend only because he was a McKay.

Being able to read people comes very handy in such cases.

Over the year, he got much more fluent in reading people to the point that it came naturally to him now.

He was now set into a fixed routine, comfortable with his life.

Little did he know, he was going to be thrown very impolitely out of his comfort zone.
