The Literal Firestorm
Sarina P.O.V.
"What test could you possibly be referring to Mother?" Garreth asks gritting his teeth in distain. My thoughts exactly...
"All I mean is we need to see her strengths,-" she starts.
"Bullshit!", Enderson interrupts. "You just want an excuse to see Sarina get hurt!" He shouts back at the Queen. "I refuse to let her be apart of any of your underhand schemes".
Is it wrong that I find this kinda romantic? Like he's defending my honor...how sweet.
The Queen gasps in shock apparently her darling sons have never talked to her in such a manner. The Queen is quick to put on a sad face to cover up her own anger, but I've been around enough manipulators in my life to realize when some one is faking their emotions. She continues to look pathetic making eyes with a few of the Elders, I'm unsure of what she's trying to do until...
"If your mate is to be Queen then she should have no problems in proving it herself", the High said Elder speaks.
"How dare you!" Enderson says now fulling standing up and looks like he's about to storm over and show the Elder why he's the King.
"No Queen or King has ever had to prove themselves, it's the goddesses divine reason for her to be Queen that's why she's mated to us! You pompous buffoon!" Garreth yells.
My ears begin to ring with all the loud yelling, I always thought these problems were solved calmly, boy was I wrong.
"If she cannot prove herself then she shouldn't be Queen," The Duke says drawing our attention back to him. The Duchess stands not to fair away from him looking somewhat smug... as if this was going to work out in her favor.
Enderson lets out a shaky breath before saying,"And who would you have in mind for her to prove herself against?" He asks with grit teeth putting his attention onto the Duke.
"My daughter of course" the Duke responds arrogantly, motioning towards his daughter.
She stands with and air of both elegance and arrogance to her.
So rude...
But that seemed to be the last straw, because the sound of bone crunching could be heard, I saw a glimmer of black scales before my eyes were promptly covered by Garreth.
After a few minutes of the mutilating sounds, a thunderous roar shook the room. I pried Garreth's hands from off of my eyes.
I let out an unknowing gasp and I know fully understood why the court hall was so big... it was to accommodate the two big, black dragons that were in charge.
He was stunning, my breath hitched and I couldn't look away, and it seemed like I wasn't the only one.
"Your grace! Please I beseech you!" The Duke shouted, he appeared to be groveling, but hey so would I.
In response a plume of smoke and fire bloomed out of the dragons mouth. It's a literal firestorm.
And only someone of royal decent could create one, most never get the chance to see one at least not someone born into my status.
Something bursts free from Garreth's palm getting rid of the firestorm at quick as it started.
"Your majesty!" The Duke calls bringing attention back to him.
The Duke is only met with another growl, he turned his back to the Duke, I'm met with his gorgeous eyes. I tried to stand up hand go near him, I don't know what posses me to do that but I slowly stood up.
Took a few steps before I realized Garreth was right in my tail, hmmm odd.
I reached a shaky hand up towards his face, he had to bend down to come to my level, but it meant that he was willing.
When we made contact it felt like something out of my dreams, the scales and the spark is always felt. I only got to savor it for a few minutes before the sound of bones cracking reached my ears.
I closed my eyes willingly this time, knowing I wouldn't want to see this transition.
"Thank you", Enderson breathlessly whispers.
The room is now deathly silent, everyone waiting with baited breath, me including.
"Maybe we should do it?" He asks, almost like it's a struggle for him to even ask that in the first place.
"Are you insane?" Garreth whisper yells towards him. While the two of them continue to have a stare off, I pipe in,"I'm not fighting anyone", I say quietly.
But it seems to have grabbed their attention, they both look at me and with a slight reluctance from Enderson they both nod their heads in agreement.
He shakes his head as if trying to get a few thoughts out of his head,"you're right I'm not sure what came over me", he apologizes.
Enderson walks towards the center of the court, making sure to grab everyone's attention.
"Our mate and your future Queen will not fight for a title that's rightfully hers!" He bellows.
"She is our mate! And even our beasts agree!" Garreth continues.
The Queen straitenes at his declaration, stares dead at him and looks as if she's about to release all seven levels of hell, "Why you ungrateful little-" when she's promptly interrupted.
"Lilith enough!" A booming voice calls.
We all jerk our heads towards the entrance, and wouldn't you know it, the King was standing there. Looking like he's only slightly annoyed at the events taking place.
I glance up to the celling saying a silent prayer, you are a kind goddess.
"I watched the encounter between our son and this women, how could you possibly want to tear them apart?" He questions.
"But she's a spiritless! No Queen has never not have a spirit beast!" She exclaims.
"So? Times have changed and it's time for you too Lilith," he says.
"But if they choose Victoria our kingdom will continue to prosper! Who knows what will happen under the rule of that!" She shouts pointing an accused finger in my direction.
"Just because you were my chosen mate doesn't mean you get to choose who our boys get to be with", he continued.
A few gasps were heard along with my own, at least I'm not the only one who didn't know.
A faint voice from the audience goes,"Oh snap! He went there!"
I chuckle at the women, who said exactly what we were all thinking.
"Now if I hear one more thing about you trying to take this sweet girl away, you'll be stripped of your titles, do I make myself clear?" The King said.
I was amazed at how The Queen could still hold her head up high, while be threatened. I would have probably started cowering away in fear by now.
Not to say I wasn't gripping Garreth's hand for dear life, and probably shaking like a leaf.
"Yes." She stated.
Then she walked over to where the King was standing and the both strolled away, as if the witch hadn't just flipped my life upside down.
Freaking royals.
The attention was soon brought back to Enderson,"Court is done, everyone get out of my sight", he grumbled.
When he saw that no one had moved he promptly shouted,"Now!" Everyone bolted out of the room like their asses were on fire.
And honestly I would've ran too if Garreth still didn't have such a tight grip on my hand.
A faint "this isn't over!" Could be heard from the crowd and I knew it was directed at me, from the Duchess.
"Well that was awful" Garreth snorts.
"Agreed" I say, trying to get my ever increasing anxiety to calm down.
"I'm hungry" Enderson interjects, I turn and give him an odd look.
"That was random", I point out.
"No it's not, it's lunch time" Enderson says innocently, making me slightly giggle.
"He's right", Garreth says while looking down at his watch.
"Well I could eat," I nod towards them.
"Great we'll have a picnic!" Enderson says.
