Y/N's P.O.V

We've watched the video that the unknown number took of Eleanor and Kingpin.

She broke Scorpion out of jail and he's been working for the Kingpin. She framed Jack and killed his uncle.

Kate just looks at her phone after the video finishes.

Y/N: Who sent this?

Kate: I don't know. My mum broke Scorpion out of jail.

Clint: Oh, wow.

Kate: This doesn't make any sense. My mum doesn't even jaywalk. And now she's working with the mob? She killed Armand? My god, I need to talk to her.

Kate stands as do Clint and I.

Clint: Kate, wait. You gotta calm down, okay? Let's talk this out.

Y/N: He's right, Kate. Just calm down. Take a breath, okay? But your mum needs our help. That video, Kate... it's not good.

Clint: He's right. Kingpin will not take this lightly. He's gonna react.

Y/N: Yeah, and knowing him it'll be in a big way.

Kate: Clint, this is my mess to clean up. You should go, be with your family.

Y/N: Kate's right. We'll handle this.

Kate: You can still make it back in time for Christmas...

Y/N: No. You two are my partners. Your guy's mess is my mess. I'm not going anywhere until this is finished.

After that we decide to head back to my place.

(One hour later)

The three of us are now on the subway.

Kate is sat next to me with her head on my shoulder.

I look at her.

Y/N: You're gonna be okay, you know that right?

She nods.

Kate: Well, I have you. So yeah, I do.

I smile and kiss her forehead.

Clint looks at us.

Clint: Kate, I'm really sorry about how this turned out for you.

She lifts her head of my shoulder.

Kate: Well... can't think about all that right now. We need to focus on tonight's mission right now.

He nods.

Clint: You're right. We're gonna need a ton of gear. Like a whole batch of way-too-dangerous trick arrows.

Katie smiles.

Kate: Wait, you can make more?

Clint: With yours and Y/N's help I can get them made alot quicker.

I smirk.

Y/N: He's right. Let's get back to my place and get this shit started.

A minute later we get off the train and get back to my place.

It's time to get ready for tonight.

(Three hours later)

So Clint, Kate and I are still prepping for tonight. 

I've helped them with the trick arrows, but I've also been getting my webbing ready and making sure.

I have enough cartridges for my shooters.

The three of are at the work bench.

Clint and I can see that Kate is nervous.

Clint looks at her.

Clint: So, this uh... this holiday party tonight, is it a fancy thing?

Kate: Yeah, formal.

Y/N: Kate, you know, you don't have to do this, right? It is part of the job. It's always inconvenient.

Clint: He's right. It can be lonely too. You will get hurt. Heroes have to make some tough decisions.

Y/N: That's true. You have to do what you think is best. That's all any of us can do, even if it hurts like hell.

Clint: So, if you're gonna do this... we just wanna know you're ready.

Kate: When I was young aliens invaded, and I was alone. And I was terrified. But then I saw you, fighting aliens with a stick and a string. I saw you jump from that building even though you can't fly, even though you don't have superpowers. And I thought, "if he could do that, then I didn't have to be scared."

She sighs.

Kate: You showed me that being a hero isn't just for people who can fly or shoot lasers out of their hands, it's for anyone who's brave enough to what's right no matter the cost.

She looks at me.

Kate: And you showed me that no matter how much loss and darkness you go through, you can still come out on the other side as a hero.

I smile.

Kate: I'm ready.

Clint and I both nod.

Y/N: Okay.

Clint: Come on, let's get changed. We have a party to get to.

(Two hours later)

Kate, Clint and I are now walking to the holiday party. We're in formal wear with our new suits underneath.

We walk in the building and make it to the top floor where the party is happening.

We stand near the bar and look around.

Kate: I don't see my mum yet.

Clint: Why don't you tell us what you do see?

Y/N: Yeah. What are our assets and what are our threats?

She looks around.

Kate: Mmm, threats? That guy.

We look back and see Gary.

Kate: That's Gary. He fired me from one of the only jobs I've ever had. Assets? Well, we have those all around the party.

We look around and see our LARPer friends dressed as waiters.

After that we see Jack greeting people.

Kate: Wow. Jack's out of jail already. Nothing phases that guy.

Clint: So Jack wielding a sword, just out of jail for allegedly murdering someone with one.

Kate: Maybe it's his way of proving that he really is innocent?

I shrug.

Y/N: That's a weird flex, but sure.

Clint hands us comm links.

Clint: Take these. Stay on comms, okay? 

Kate: Okay.

Y/N: Yep.

Clint: I'm gonna take a lap.

Once Clint is gone I offer Kate my arm.

Y/N: Shall we?

She smiles.

Kate: Yes.

She takes my arm and we walk around the party to keep an eye out.

Kate: Do you think Scorpion will show his face tonight?

Y/N: Gargan always been persistent. So, if he knows I'm here tonight, he'll do whatever it takes to kill me.

Kate: Are you ready for him in case he does show up?

Y/N: Yes, I am.

We stop and Kate looks at me.

Kate: Can you promise me something?

Y/N: Sure.

Kate: Don't let him turn you into someone you're not. Like with Goblin and Kraven.

Y/N: I won't. I promise.

She smiles and kisses me on the cheek.

Kate: Thank you.

After that Kate and I see her mum walk into the party.

Kate: Clint, we found her.

Clint: Copy that. Get her somewhere safe.

Kate: On it.

Y/N: You go, I'll keep looking around.

Kate: Okay.

Kate leaves to go and get her mum.

As I continue to walk around I hear Clint come over the comms.

Clint: Hey, kid. You see anything?

Y/N: Nah, nothing yet. Maybe the Kingpin isn't coming for her tonight. Maybe we got lucky.

Clint: Maybe, let's just keep our eyes peeled.

Y/N: Yep.

Kate's P.O.V

After grabbing my mum we head down into the kitchen

Eleanor: Kate, what are you doing?

I turn to her. 

Kate: I'm saving your life. Your business partner wants you dead.

Eleanor: What are you talking about?

I then show mum the video that I got sent me of her and Kingpin.

Kate: How could you do this? All these years.

Eleanor: You don't understand. When your father died, I was blindsided. He owed that monster money.

We then see Jack coming over.

Y/N's P.O.V

I stop walking and look out of the window.

My spider sense will warn me if something is about to happen.

As I stand there I see Grills come over to me.

Grills: All clear so far, boss.

After he says that I feel my spider sense go off. I then see a red laser hitting the glasses on the tray.

Y/N: Get down!

I pull Grills down as the shot misses us and hits the tray.

I look to Grills.

Y/N: Hey man, you okay?

Grills: Yeah, I'm good.

Y/N: Okay, get these people out of here.

Grills: Got it.

I stand up and start running as the gunshots hit the windows.

Y/N: Away from the windows, get away from the windows!

Kate's P.O.V

As mum and Jack talk we start to hear gun fire.

I get on the comms.

Kate: What the hell was that?

Grills: Shots fired. We're workin' on gettin' there people outta here.

I then walk forward.

Kate: Mum, Jack, stay here.

Eleanor: Kate, do not go out there, it's too dangerous.

I look back to my mum.

Kate: You're the reason it's dangerous out there, mum. Just stay put and stay out of this.

After that I head back upstairs to help the other's.
