Sea Spider: Spider-verse Pt1 #4

A man walks through the streets of Queens, going to visit his sick aunt. He checks on her once a week, trying to help out as much as he could. A block or two ahead, he could see a woman about to get robbed. He ran into the nearest alley, getting into his costume. Before he could finish, a bright blue and green portal appeared above him. He looked up, confused, before everything went black.

-Meanwhile on Earth 415-

I'm probably going to regret saying this, but swinging through the city is really fun! You can see faces you've never seen before, or even see people looking at you weird. Or with awe. I don't really care, though. I love New York! I see a man with a black hoodie running away with a womans purse, so I web up his arms, drop down in front of him, and ask him, "Excuse me, but does that belong to you?"

His eyes widen, and he shakes his head no. I take the purse, looking at the croud that has gathered around us, and I yell, "Does this belong to any of you?"

A woman steps up, looking a bit scared. I study her for a moment, before turning around to the man I webbed up. "Hey, is this the woman you stole this from?"

He nods his head, so I turn around and hand the purse to the lady. "Here you go!" I say, happy I helped. I look around at the croud. "Any questions? No? Oki, see you later, people!"

Webbing away, I see a strange blue and green flashing light from an alley up a few blocks. I swing over, not knowing what was going to come out. The light fades away and I see a man in a red and blue costume similar to mine. Who.. what? I stare at him before he jolts up, terrifying me. I jump back, suprised, still staring at him. "Where am I?" He yells, looking around, until he starts staring at me.

"Uh.. Hi? Who are you? Why'd you come out of nowhere? Why is your costume similar to mine?" I question, still staring at him. He looks at me, shaking his head.

"Where is this universe's spider-man?" he asks. I shake my head, then say casually, "What's a spiderman? Like, half spider half man? That'd be so weird, dude.."

"So.. I'm guessing you got bit by the spider in this universe?" He asks, as if he's practiced it in the shower hundreds of times.

"Yeah, why? Are you from another universe? I always knew there was a multiverse!" I say, excited.

I look at him again, studying him. The blank expression of his mask makes me uncomfortable. Or maybe it's the fact there's a multiverse. Whatever. He suddenly asks, "Do you have anymore of a private place to talk? You know, so we can remove our masks?"

I nod my head, and give a simple, "follow me," before swinging away.

He follows me cautiously, almost not sure if he should trust me. At first I was thinking of taking him home, but my brother could catch us. So I went to the next best place. It took longer than I expected to get there, though. It was a bit north of the city, where most people didn't go. My favorite abandoned subway! I swing over the stairs, landing perfectly. He does the same, but his landing is clearly more practiced than mine.

He looks around, and asks, "Okay, people usually take me to their house, so I'm guessing it's not safe there. Unless this is your house."

"Yeah, my house isn't safe. Plus, my dad used to take

me here when I was younger. We would explore, and sometimes we even saw abandoned train cars!" I say, smiling while thinking of my dad. I slowly walk, almost like I'm in a trance, over to the wall to my right. I look solemnly at the wall, removing my mask. I trace my hand over where I carved my name into the wall when I was 7. I don't notice as he comes and stands behind me, gazing upon the carving. I turn around, a calm expression on my face, and ask, "The last time I let someone inside, I was buried alive. How do I know if I can trust you?"

He removes his mask, to reveal a man in his twenties, with light brown hair and deep blue eyes. He looks me dead in the eyes and says, "I don't know how to make you trust me. I was around your age when I started this gig, too. Before that, I was a professional wrestler, using my powers for money. Then a robber passed me one day, but I didn't do anything to stop him. That robber killed my uncle Ben. My name is Peter Parker, and I am my Earth's Spider-man."

I look at him with a blank expression. He just told me what I'm assuming is his biggest regret. So I guess I'll tell him who I am. "It's nice to meet you, Peter Parker. My name is Angie Quill, and you can call me Sea Spider. I only got my powers a few weeks ago, but I'm excited to help people." I say, a tight smile on my lips, hoping he trusts me.

He smiles, and everything seems to slow down a bit. My expression loosens, knowing I have someone I can trust standing by me, even if it will only be for a short time. In that calm moment, my phone suddenly rings. We both let out a small laugh, and I grab my phone. "Hello?"

Amelia answers, frightened. "Where are you? Are you okay?"

"Excuse me? What do you mean? I'm at home." I say, confused.

"Thank god! I was watching the news, right? And this breaking news report comes on showing this weird monster thing attacking the city! Plus the Avengers are missing, and nobody is really there except for the cops!"

"Gotta go, bye!" I say, hanging up. "Okay, so I don't know why your here, but there's this monster thing, and the Avengers are missing-"

"What are we waiting for then?" He says, putting his mask back on, running out of the station. I quickly run after him, my mask already on, quiping, "Wait for me, Spider-dude!"
