Twenty One

"Hello, Miss Sizon! Finally, nakilala din kita!" A woman in her early thirties greeted me in her doctor's coat.

I automatically searched for her name tag and found out her name was Buenaflor.

"Oh, sorry for my manners! I'm Dra. Ynes Buenaflor." She grinned and gestured for me to sit.

I did so and smiled. "Good afternoon, Dra. It's nice meeting you po. " I politely said.

"Naku, drop the po. It makes me seem older." She chuckled.

She, then, fished out her tactlight and readied her prescription and pen.

"Today's your scheduled eye check-up, right?" She asked and I nodded.

"Kamusta? How was your vision, so far?" She asked while checking both my eyes.

I told her what happened to me and how my vision was thanks to Dr. De Silva.

She gave me her prescription and wished me well before I head out of her clinic.

I sighed and clung to my bag strap.

My stomach complained again and here I am now inside a fast food store ordering my favorite spaghetti and fries combo which I took out for me to eat at home.

I am most comfortable at home than eating alone outside.

I was hailing a taxi cab when it stopped in front of me and out came Matrix De Silva in his dashing glory.

He was in a black muscle tee and ripped jeans than his usual formal attire.

"Clarinet." He said as he rested his stern gaze at me.

I was torn between acknowledging his presence and going away.

I chose the former one and immediately grabbed the door of the taxicab.

I was about to open the back door of the cab when Matrix covered my hand to stop me.

"Let's talk, please." He begged and I fought to look back at him.

"I have somewhere to be." I simply said and put his hand away.

I entered the cab and rested my take out paper bag on my lap.

I told the driver my address and he drove away.

I watched Matrix stared at me as the driver drove away.

I sighed and slapped my head.

Clearly, he still has this effect on me.

I frustratingly opened my paper bag and grabbed two pieces of french fries.

It only took me around thirty minutes to reach home.

I paid the driver and went straight to my unit.

I was expecting to hear Madonna's cool and raspy voice calling my name when I heard voices arguing instead.

I was alert for it involves my friend but I chose to let Madonna open up to me so I went inside my unit.

I locked my door and headed straight to the kitchen and unloaded my foods.

I was starving and frustrated with how this day went.

I finished my spaghetti and fries in less than ten minutes.

I threw them in the trash bin and washed my hands.

Then, I heard frantic knocks on my door.

Frowning, I rushed to the door and opened it expecting to see Sheila or Madonna but was shocked to see Matrix in front of me.

"I can't let another day pass without having to talk to you. Hear me out, Clari." He said with a bouquet of roses in his hand.

Madonna and Sheila's heads were out popping from their respective units.

Sheila was wiggling her eyebrows and keeps on giving me a teasing smile. Madonna, on the other hand,  gave me a knowing glance.

I pulled Matrix inside before these two started asking questions.

I shut the door immediately behind us and crossed my arms in front of my chest.

"Talk. FIVE MINUTES ONLY." I said.

"I know, we started on the wrong foot. You were annoyed at me ever since we met on the bus. To the day when I was assigned as your ophthalmologist."

I nodded in approval.

"But, please do believe me, that I was swept away when you started talking. You were like a megaphone whenever you speak. Even from a distance, I can hear your voice."

I frowned. I was about to shot back at him when he stopped my words.

"You were always the irritating one. But you are the only one who tamed me. I was the dominant one between us but you got me with your words."

My forehead creased and my heart galloped like a horse on track.

"You were a temptress. I cannot resist not having to be near you. Your mere presence lights up my world. I think I have fallen in love with you since the day we met."

I felt my eyes welling up with his words.

"About Liz. She was an ex. The reason why I didn't call or see you for a week was because I want to make things right before I start my life with you. I settled everything between us. She was impregnated by her boyfriend and the jerk dumped her for someone. She went to me hoping for a chance but when she saw I was happy with you, she gave up."

"Your time is up." I said.

"Thank you for that five minute. I'm glad you listened. Just so you know, I'm still going to win you back." Matrix finally smiled and stepped closer to me.

I held my breath when I feel he was inches away from me.

I was expecting he'll kiss me when he leaned down but he whispered these words,

"You'll be mine, in no time. " He flashed me his boyish smile and stepped back. "I'll see you again, lovey."

He closed the door behind me leaving my heart fluttering in my chest.
