Three

I was sitting straight and browsing thru the Facebook page of the restaurant where I am currently at for the interview.

I wanted to make sure that if ever there's a possibility that they may ask if I know a little or two about their restaurant, I have something to say.

A friendly waiter offered me a juice drink as I waited patiently for my turn. There were also two other applicants other than me. One already went in and I was trying my best not to look frantic and scared.

This is my fourth application and second interview. I should act professional and calm.

I decided to rest my eyes from the glaring light of my cellphone. I counted to fifteen with my eyes closed but was interrupted by a whiff of manly smell who passed by me. I heard murmuring voices and I slowly opened my eyes.

I barely saw the man because his back was turned to me and was talking to the waitress assigned at the counter.

I frowned at the weird familiarity of the smell. I know I have smelled the scent somewhere.

I kept raking my brain where and when it was when the HR personnel called my name.

"Miss Winona Sizon?" I nodded and stood up. I adjusted my glasses and straightened my skirt. "This way, please. Miss Sullivan, she's here."

The sophisticated lady in her late twenties who was sitting in the executive's chair nodded at her and smiled at me.

She gestured the seat across hers and I bowed gently.

"Good morning po." I said courteously.

"Good morning, Miss Winona Sizon. How do you want me to call you?"

"Clari na lang po." I answered and started breathing slowly.

I made sure to maintain eye contact as we exchanged formal conversations all throughout the interview.

She was even kind enough to share a joke with me which I found funny.

Pretty soon, we were discussing about our favorite dishes like old friends.

But I remained my professionalism and still addressed her as Miss Sullivan.

"Alright, Clari. That ends the interview. Can you start next week, Monday? " Miss Sullivan said with a wide smile.

Hiding my excitement and joy were both a struggle.

I nodded and smiled.

"It will be such a pleasure, Miss. I will gladly be here." I answered with utmost honesty.

"Well then, good! Julia will assist you with the other requirements for your employment. " She said while noting something on her pad.

She pressed on the intercom and called for Anastacia, the waitress I was with earlier.

Anastacia entered the room and assisted me. She led me to another room at the second floor of the restaurant where the Human Resource Office was located.

I, again, adjusted my eyeglasses before meeting Miss Julia.

I was expecting a woman in her forties since this is my 4th time visiting such offices due to my employment objectives.

What surprised me was a lady almost about my age.

Julia was an elegant lady who seems to love dressing up. She looks lovely in her a-line floral dress and one-inch red heels.

We walked in on her reading a novel by the window.

"Miss Julia, good morning. We have a new team member here. " Anastacia said smiling at me and then at Miss Julia.

"Oh, wow! That is wonderful! I know my big sis sure knows how to pick the right people!" Miss Julia exclaimed and gestured me to sit in front of her. "Thank you, Stacy!"

I smiled and sat down.

Looks like I'll be enjoying my new job after all.
