Dr. Matrix De Silva bent down and sat on the bed. He has his small flashlight with him ready to check my eyes.

But, before doing so, he stared at me with a stern and stoic look.

"I am pathetic, right? I should know. I feel useless." I started, not meeting his eyes.

Dr. De Silva sighed and moved closer to me.

"Let me check your eyes, Clari. " He said and I looked at him in my blurry vision.

I felt the stinging pain in my eyes and I almost whined when he opened his flashlight on them.

"Alright, tell me what exactly happened earlier." He ordered and I told him about how I struggled reaching for something to lean on when I experienced nausea and pain in my eyes.

"It seems to me that you have acute angle-open glaucoma. Your eyes are red. This is a medical emergency. You needed to be treated for a surgery or else, you'll be blinded in a day or two." He said in a straightforward manner.

"Paano? I don't have any money with me! Hindi ko alam san ako kukuha ng ganyan kalaking pera para sa sarili kong operasyon!" I exclaimed, tears escaping my eyes.

"I'll take care of it." Onyx said from the door.

He left me when his brother  had to check on me for privacy but I guess he thought it's over so he returned.

"A-ano?" I asked in confusion.

"I'll help you. I'll pay the expenses of your operation. Just be well soon. " Onyx said and he walked towards Matrix and me.

"But that's a lot of money. Hindi bale, pagtatrabahuan ko yung pambayad ko sayo. Kung kinakailangan mag double job ako, sige. " I said without stopping.

Matrix gave his brother a bored look. He stood up and challenged him.

"Really, Kuya? Sasagutin mo pambayad niya?" He scoffed at him in disbelief. "Eh, hindi mo nga kayang tustusan ang pangangailangan ng anak at asawa  mo eh!"

"Enough, Matrix!" Onyx yelled but Matrix stood his ground.

"Oo nga pala. Sanay ka na sa pag aasikaso sa ibang tao kesa sa sarili mong pamilya! " Matrix fired at him.

I was left dumbfounded at their arguments.

These two have issues to settle with before coming to my aid!

"Uh, kung tapos na ang check-up ko, mauna na ako. Salamat, Boss Onyx. " I said and started to stand up.

"Stay where you are. " Onyx said and I halted. "I don't need to explain anything to you and what me and my wife has is none of your business! So, back off and let me do this for my employee!"

Matrix rolled his eyes and turned to me.

"Give me your cellphone number and I'll call you tomorrow for the schedule of your operation. I'll ring you two hours before so you can prepare yourself. I'll pick you up. I'll set your schedule before lunch so you can rest in the afternoon." He said to me and I have to do what he says so I gave him my phone to put in his number. He let it ring on his and saved it. "I'll see you tomorrow, Clari. Take care, alright." He said then gave one last look at his brother before leaving us and closing the door behind him.

"I'm sorry for my brother's behavior.  I didn't know he will act that way. " Boss Onyx apologized and rubbed his forehead as if he was in pain. "I'll have my driver get you home. I need to attend to something. Be well, Clari. I still need you in our kitchen."

I nodded and muttered my gratitude before he left me to take care of myself. He told me to come out after fifteen minutes so I grabbed my things and fixed his bed.
