Four
It has been three days since I was hired here at De Silva Ristorante.
I finally got to work with our Pastry Chef, Chef Allana Roces.
I became her assistant. I was busy cleaning all the kitchen equipments while our Head Chef, Chef Barry Yu are dictating the orders of the customers.
The kitchen was busy that's why I have to double time cleaning everything that's dirty.
It was my choice to help our kitchen assistant while me and Chef Allana are waiting for our glazed donuts to be baked.
I was already done with my first pastry, chiacherre, as an assistant pastry chef.
Chiacherre is an Italian fritter made from dough that is cut into rectangular sheets which are twisted into ribbons or flattened out with wavy borders.
"Thank you, Clari ha." Risa, the kitchen assistant, whispered at me as we continue to scrub the frying pans and other utensils.
"No prob." I smiled and adjusted my eyeglasses.
I had my apron on I wiped my hands on it.
"Ri, lipat muna ako kay Chef Allana. Matatapos na ata ang binibake namen." I said and she nodded.
"Glad you're here, Clari!" Chef Allana exclaimed and stared at our oven.
She was pulling out plates where we will put on our goodies. "Get six servings of chiacherre per order. We had four today."
"Yes, Chef." I nodded and did what I was told.
I wiped the side of the plate when I was finished placing the chiacherres on them. I plated them in a presentable yet tasty manner.
Chef Allana was able to bake doughnuts enough for today's orders.
As soon as we were done, we placed them on Head Chef's table.
Chef Barry took them and tapped the bell for the orders be taken by the from the counter dividing the kitchen from the customers.
I went immediately to our huge freezer where we store our ingredients.
I have to check if we have enough stock of ingredients for this week's menu.
I managed to get through the day and was sitting at one of the steps of the stairs outside.
It's past eight o' clock and I was too tired to even move a muscle. Our restaurant was closed an hour ago.
I stretched both my arms and yawned.
I was about to stand up when my knees became wobbly. I was expecting to fall into the hard ground when I felt stiff arms held my stand.
I raised my eyes to thank him when I saw who it was.
"Ikaw? " I stifled a gasp and his eyes squinted as if he doesn't remember me.
