Twenty Seven

So while we take turns managing our WINning SMASH, I spend my free time reviewing for midterms and writing a new series.

Ah! The perks of having to run your own business.

You can choose when to take a break.

I grinned when I updated my ongoing series with two chapters.

I really did not expect to have acquired more than a dozen readers in this writing platform.

Having one or two readers are already a blessing for me.

But more than a dozen?

Who are actually waiting for updates?

Wow!

This feeling is so nice!

Next day came and another productive MBA class  has passed and we separated ways.

As I was getting to sleep, my peaceful routine was distracted.

"Hello? Is this Miss Suarez ?" An unfamiliar male voice asked over the phone.

I frowned in confusion who might this be and why is he asking.

"Yes. This is she. Who is this?" I asked politely.

"Do you know Perry Coleman?" The man asked and my forehead creased even more. "He was stabbed on his way home. We brought him here in the hospital."

My jaw dropped open.

I put on my eyeglasses again and frantically reached for my bag.

After talking to the police, I immediately called Leni and told her about our friend.

"Girl! Where are you?" I asked her worriedly.

"Home. Why?" Leni asked back.

"Perry is in the hospital. He was ganged up on his way home and was stabbed by an unknown group!" I yelled while I grabbed my house keys as I headed to the door.

"I-I'm on my way! Text me the details!" Leni shot back and while I was on the road, I did what I was told and texted her.

As soon as I arrived at Perry's room, his mom was already there.

She told me about what happened and asked if I could stay for awhile to get some things in their home.

She was working when the police called her about Perry.

I nodded and she thanked me before walking outside the room.

"He was teamed up according to the witness." I filled them in with the details. "His mom just left to get her things."

We stared at our friend who's lying on the hospital bed.

Perry lied on the bed with tubes hanging from his mouth as an airway.

He was also been injected for dextrose.

"He has been treated in an ICU earlier, according to Tita. " I added.

"Have you guys eaten yet?" Zena asked me and I shook my head. She turned to face Leni and said,
"I'll get us food. Tag along with Shai, best."

Leni nodded and Zena went out to the hospital's canteen.

When we were alone, I sighed.

"We were so happy earlier. And now, this happened." I complained.

Leni just held Perry's hand for a moment and stared at his form.

"Leni, please don't get me wrong." I can't help but said abruptly and turned to face her.

She met my eyes and I think she felt conscious suddenly.

"You happened to know about me being a writer. I knew it's not just a funny coincidence." I said looking straight at her. "Is it actually possible that you can also see the future?"

I saw her gulped but managed to keep a straight face.

"What am I saying! Just forget about it." I exclaimed and shook her head.
"That is impossible, right? I must have lack of sleep! Haha!" I laughed and she gave me a small smile.

Thankfully, we were interrupted by Zena.

She generously bought foods for us and we ate in silence while looking out for our dear friend.

Moments later, a nurse came in to check Perry's vitals and went out again.

They also met Tita Eunice and she thanked us for visiting her son.

Tita Eunice was nice enough to have their driver fetch us to our homes.

Since it's already late in the evening, we agreed to be taken to our homes.

When I arrived home, I sighed.

I realized I was acting strangely towards Leni.

The reason I asked about her possible ability was because about my doubts with Reagan.

He has been on a business trip lately and I cannot help but to observe and worry that every time he went on a trip for too long, like more than two weeks, he will forget about me and find another.

I mean, can you blame me when he did that when we were young?
