Eight
Weekend came and still no hi nor hello from the man of the hour.
I was minding my own business when Sheena looked up at me from her bed.
She was doing her favorite past time, drawing.
Honestly, my sister could pass as an illustrator or animator.
Her hands do wonders every time she holds a pen or pencil!
At her young age of 16, she can easily draw such wonderful sceneries one used to see in postcards!
I sometimes envy her but I somehow feel contented with what I can do.
If her hands can draw, mine can tell you a story.
"Sis, how come I didn't see Reagan with you lately?" She asked and I was torn between telling her what happened and keeping things to myself.
"Is it true that he is engaged with Therese Valbuena? I just found out that she is the older sister of our captain in volleyball varsity team, Teresa." She added while her hand effortlessly grazed across the clean sheet of paper.
I halted on typing on my laptop.
I was trying to finish my ongoing story in Inknotes with only four chapters left which I have been trying to complete before graduation came but suddenly lost interest with what she had said.
I sighed and was about to answer her when she ran to our bathroom without telling me anything.
When she returned after some time, she flashed me an apologetic smile before flopping back on her bed across mine.
"Sorry. I couldn' take it anymore." She giggled then looked at me. "Do you want to tell me something, big sis?"
"About Reagan, I don' know where he is."
There, I said it.
"It has been weeks but he did not bother to let me know where he is or what he is doing. I don't know about his plans anymore. Or if I am included in it."
I ranted about how I felt not knowing that I was crying.
Sheena stood up from her bed and went by my side to hug me.
"I do not know if there is still an us or should I still hold on to him and his promises. I was surprised when I heard it all from The-therese." I sobbed and had to remove my eyeglasses so I could cry freely.
"I cannot believe it will be this hard. Leaving me hanging." I stuttered while wiping my tears using the sleeves of my shirt.
"Euw! Gross! Booger must be aching to come out!" I joked despite the tears.
"Ugh, big sis! I can't believe you are this disgusting when you're brokenhearted!" Sheena said and laughed along with me while caressing my back.
Once I wiped my tears, I sniffed and glanced at my almost finished story.
"I will just finish this tomorrow or tonight. Do you want pizza? Let's order! I'll treat you today!" I said and stood up to get my wallet.
"Woww! How I wish you're always heartbroken like this!" Sheena exclaimed which earned a snort from me. " I want Hawaiian flavor, okay!"
"As long as you'll call them for delivery!" I said and she frowned.
Sheena hates calling for food. For her, it's a desperate measure.
According to her last time, why bother to order if we have stocks on our fridge.
"Don't bother. I will just sleep it out." I said and started to return my money to my wallet.
"Hey!! Stop! I'm calling already!!" Sheena yelled and snatched the money from me before rushing downstairs to call the delivery hotline of our favorite pizza parlor.
I chuckled and wiped my eyeglasses before placing it back on my study table.
I'll just take a nap before our food arrives.
Sheena can take care of it.
She'll give the half to me.
Sheena has always been my bestfriend since the day she was born.
Maybe, that is one of the perks of having a sister.
Having a bestfriend for life.
No matter what life throws at you, you know someone will always be there to listen and care for you.
That's why I cannot imagine my life without her.
Even if she's younger by four years, she has the mindset of an adult.
Before I knew it, I dozed my heartache off and slept soundly.
