Twelve
I woke up from a long sleep when I arrived at my destination.
As soon as I stepped out of the taxi, I clung to the strap of my knapsack with my left hand and my right hand on my luggage.
A cousin of Louisse told me about a vacancy in one of the units in Green Heights.
With only a few clothes, my laptop and some essentials with me, I am determined to convey a message to my parents that I do not approve of the things happening inside our household.
I entered the said condominium and talked to the receptionist.
I told her the details of my stay and the name of Louisse's cousin.
She gave me the key to the unit and I went up.
The unit was located at the fourth floor so I have to take the elevator.
Upon entering and pressing on my floor, I was then filled with excitement and nervousness.
When I heard the sound indicating I just reached the floor, I stepped out and turned to my right.
I walked towards 404 and inserted the key to the unit.
Once inside, I was amazed by how spacious it was.
The kitchen was tidy and neat. The bedroom beside it was inviting and appears to be comfy.
It looked like it has been bought brand new.
The unit was extremely homey and cozy.
I put down my knapsack and pulled out my laptop and phone to charge them.
Next, I unloaded my luggage and placed them inside the wardrobe cabinet.
Once done, I texted Shee where I was and did not expected her to reply since I know she is still mad at me.
I pulled the chargers of my phone and laptop from the electric sockets for the fear that they may be overcharged while I was out for a few hours.
I checked my wallet and sighed.
I'm thankful I was able to save up from my college allowances.
Though, three day staycation is quite expensive.
I think I can manage.
As soon as I am satisfied with my arrangement, I stood up and went outside to find something to eat.
I also brought my phone with me in case I might be needing it.
I entered the elevator and smiled when I came upon two ladies chatting inside.
The other girl went out on the same floor that I was and one stayed.
She also has eyeglasses on and her skin was beautiful.
She is fair skinned and her eyes have a shade of blue.
I can almost think she has a foreign blood in her.
Her blonde hair gave emphasis to her complexion that made her stand out.
Then, her phone rang.
"This is Dra. Ongpauco, who is this please?" The woman said and my eyes almost widened.
This woman is something else!
"Ano ka ba! Konting tyaga lang, magiging Dra din ako! Wag kang kj, bru!" Dra. Ongpauco laughed.
Even her voice sounds angelic.
I shook my head.
Naghosting ka lang, girlaloo na type mo!
I scolded myself.
Dra. Ongpauco must have noticed me and gave me a smile.
I smiled back at her.
We reached the ground floor and I started to walk to the receptionist.
I began asking where the nearest fast food, dry and wet markets and convenience store are.
I'll be staying here for a couple of days.
I might as well know where to go to feed myself.
The friendly receptionist accommodated my inquiries and I thanked her after.
Now, I am really on my own!
It was almost twelve when my stomach started complaining.
I was finally finished with buying goods for three days.
I immediately went to the nearest fast food chain, ordered a 6 pc chicken bucket and coke float.
I decided to take it home so I can eat comfortably.
Despite having loads to carry, I managed to make it to the condo.
One of the utility boys of the condominium saw me and helped me carry them to my unit.
I gave him a couple of bucks and thanked him as soon as I get inside the room.
I unloaded them and placed them inside the refrigerator before enjoying my take-out.
Living alone must be a handful.
But it does make me savor moments to myself alone.
After eating and cleaning my counter table, I decided to face my laptop and continue the remaining chapters of my ongoing story.
Writing keeps me sane.
It has been my wonderwall every time I feel down and lonely.
And with every thing that has been going on lately, I think I'll start another poem after finishing this novel.
