Six
It has been almost a month since Reagan started courting me.
His usual ways became extra.
Extra sweet. Extra caring. Extra thoughtful. Even his humor became extra hilarious.
Here I am inside his car which his dad bought for him as a birthday gift.
We have known each other for months but I still cannot get over the fact that this guy is a hotel heir.
It's funny that I get stunned at him but is not intimidated by his authoritative and dominating aura.
Back to the present, he said he forgot something in his office and will return to me as soon as possible but it's been over an hour already.
I sighed and opened his radio on.
I smiled when we hear our favorite song on radio. 2002 was playing on it.
I smiled even wider when I remembered our first kiss.
Ang harot lang!
Nanliligaw pa lang may first kiss na!
Ganda ka ghorl?
I giggled on my seat and stared at all the cars that were parked.
My suddenly throat felt dry so I opened my bag to search for my mineral water but was disappointed to see it empty.
I turned to the back seat hoping to find Reagan's stock of bottled mineral water and found none.
I tried the compartment in front of me and found one and an interesting red scrunchie.
Weird. Reagan doesn't have a long hair to get it tied down.
Also, I never heard of his siblings.
As far as I know, he is an only child.
I never met any of his brothers or sisters in our almost a year of friendship.
I sighed and then glanced at the clock inside the car.
It's an hour and a half of waiting already!
Where the hell is he!
I'm starting to get irritated and I'm not liking any minute of it.
I adjusted my eyeglasses and yawned.
Just in time, my stomach growled in hunger.
It's almost seven in the evening.
We should be home thirty minutes ago.
I forgot that I can actually ring him on phone so I immediately pulled ny phone off my bag.
As soon as I saw his name on my phone book, I called him.
But after a few rings, my call got rejected.
I tried again and the same thing happened.
Just then, I saw him running and in his sweats.
His hair was unruly and his polo shirt was wrongly buttoned with creases on it.
Reagan gave me a smile and opened his driver's side.
He immediately started to heat up the engine and began exhaling heavy breaths.
My forehead started to crease with curiosity and doubts.
But I chose to remain quiet and not ask anything.
I was expecting him to explain while we were on the road but an air of silence filled the car.
The traffic and car horns didn't even count as sound to me.
I was beginning to get annoyed with his behavior but I refrained myself.
I saw in my peripheral vision how he fanned himself with his hand and turned one of the front aircons to himself.
He occasionally wiped the sweats trickling down his cheeks and neck using his free hand.
I let out a deep sigh in frustration.
He did not even bother to ask how long I was I waiting for him or if I'm hungry.
When we were almost near our block, I expected him to ask me for a dinner but he was anxious.
He would frequently look at his phone that was resting on the car hood and ignore my presence.
I sighed again and busied myself looking outside.
When we reached my house, I quickly removed my seat belt and opened the car.
I did not even bothered to thank him because I was frustrated with his attitude.
He did not even seemed to mind as he sped off to somewhere.
I knew it was not to his home because he drove past it.
I closed the gate while I was greeted by my sister Sheena who was busy setting up our table.
Our parents have arrived and both were slumped on their usual spots.
Mom was in her office nook beside the living area while dad on her opposite side.
Seriously? Sana hindi na sila umuwi kung hindi rin naman makakausap.
Sheena shrugged at me and sat on the chair.
I puckered my lips to our bedroom and she nodded.
I went to our room to drop my bag and change into house clothes before joining Sheena to eat.
We were busy eating when dad yelled in enthusiasm.
"Nakuha ko na yung deal! Finally!" He was grinning while answering and typing on his laptop.
Mom remained silent and even rolled her eyes.
Us, siblings, continued eating as if nothing happened.
Geez! Ano ba meron sa araw na to at lahat nakakaimbyerna?
