Melinda's POV

"You think she'll wake any time soon?" I heard a voice whisper to what seem like a few other people.

"Soon I hope," another voice whispered back. This time it sounded familiar.

"Shush, I think she's awake..." I heard. I felt as though they were talking about me, so I stirred to give them a signal that I was, indeed, awake.

"Hey, she's awake!" I heard footsteps walking in my direction. I wondered who they and what did the voice were meant about being a guardian. The floaty, distant voice I heard before passing out?

"Hello!" 5 other voices greeted me the moment I opened my eyes. I recognised two of them, both were my classmates. I recognised them as Laurel and Jessilyn. Laurel was a great author, and Jessilyn was the daughter of our world's most famous cook.

"Colette," one of them smiled to me, "I'm a model and also happen to be the Nymph of Emotions."

"Cover," another introduced, "Singer and Nymph of Land! I found my magic the same as you did, just that mine was in a forest which I was trying to protect from deforestation! Did you know...?"

"Stop overwhelming her Cover. I'm Skyline," she smiled as she spoke, "I'm an Actress and at the same time, Nymph of the Skies. Why not we guide you through your magic after Lau and Jess introduced themselves?"

"Well, I'm Laurel. We're in the same class I think but I hardly see you around and I write in my free time. People usually call me Lau as it flows better. I think. I'm the Nymph of Elements!" Laurel finished off her sentence by clapping her hands and beaming at me.

"Jessilyn here! You already know I'm a cook that owns a few restaurants in town. I'm a great fan of your paintings but never really have approached you as you are always seen buried in a book. Your works are selling greatly in Xigix, if you have not realised! Nymph of Souls by the way!" She cheered and I opened my mouth.

What did she just say? I tried to see my artworks and people liked them? I open my mouth to say something but I just felt happy, that was until I remembered the words of the unique voice. I was still unsure what it meant, and what the girls meant by 'nymphs'.

Colette seemed to realise my problem because she took my hand and guided me to the sea. Transform she told me, before directing me to fly above the sea whilst concentrating on its essence. I had to reach the core of the sea, she had instructed. I nodded after the girls gave me an advice each, before summoning my will to transform.

Within minutes, I had my wings spread beautifully behind me. They gave me a thumbs up and I flew towards the sea.

I could feel strong winds pushing against me in the blizzard that was forming all of a sudden. It was out of the norm. The next thing I knew it was snowing and I was all alone. The five other girls had also told me they would appear if anything wrong happens and if I wanted to know what the mysterious voice is, I had to trust them.

I dodged the places which I felt that winds would be stronger and flied higher to avoid the big waves that were in coming. I'm the fairy of the Sea, I can do this. It is just like flying to the middle of the paradise in winter instead of sailing there in summer! I told myself as I continued to brave the winds and waves,

The higher I flew, the higher the waves went – which was weird. I tried to think happy thoughts as I dodged each wave to distract myself from the cold, but concentrated against the wind as it blew in my direction.

My wings felt frozen by that time and my ears felt like dropping. My fingertips were numb and pale. However, unexpectedly, a wave swallowed me into the sea.

I saw darkness and all I could do was to pray in my head. My thoughts were screaming for help but I could feel my eyes shutting and my body relaxing in the warming water around me. Was this it? Where were the girls? All hope seemed to be lost at that moment.

But if I were to leave this world, at least I would have passed on in the little paradise of mine.

That is it for this chapter. I know I'm not promoting this book strongly like I did with Once Were but I feel like for this one – I just want to write at my own pace, and enjoy the process. Yep.
