Sixty - Five
Surprisingly, but just as expected, everything ran as smoothly as Taeyang promised. Someone came to his apartment precisely at midnight, didn't even bother asking for Taeyang and escorting Jimin out instead.
Afterall, Taeyang was just a dealer, meanwhile Jimin knows valuable information that could be promising to them.
That's the difference.
The car ride didn't take so long, meanwhile Jimin read the Romeo and Juliet book from Taeyang's library before he left.
And it's actually really promising.
He was so engrossed into the world of literature that he didn't even notice when he finally arrived to the empire headquarters. No one can deny this is the real thing, it's puked all over the extravagant mansion and flashy light to make it appear like some Hollywood penthouse.
Easing up his suit, Jimin exits the car calmly with the book to his back, following the guards with him. The lounge was occupied by people, various men and woman speaking amongst one another and clearly making themselves at home. Many of those being people he recognized well, since they were the ones who ambushed the warehouse.
Jimin never forgets a face.
And fortunately, a grudge too.
His grip on the book tightens as he walks up the stairs calmly with the guards , going through these double doors to an extravagantly large hallway. Talk about everything being puke marble here, this place clearly are in need for some colors.
He's suddenly stopped at a door, motioned to go inside while the guards remain outside.
Hm, privacy.
This is it then.
Adjusting himself up right, Jimin opens the door inside.
It's.... A study room, like a regular office room.
Feels as though Jimin teleported back in time to a vintage era, seeing wooden desk and a wooden library - everything wooden in that matter, except for the black glass window to the side.
That suddenly flickered on with light.
Jimin snaps his head towards it, just as the door closed, and to his horror he sees Wooyoung and Soobin tied up on the other side.
At that moment Jimin's facade momentarily shifted, approaching the glass and pressing his hands against it.
Thick glass, not easily to damage.
"Wooyoung? Soobin?"
Both men quickly look up, a sense of both relief and desperation in their gaze to Jimin tear eyes to them.
"Jimin!" Wooyoung beams, "H-How did you find us?"
Jimin wipes his eyes with his sleeve, "I have my ways," And he looks between them, "Where's everyone else?"
"They just took me and Wooyoung here," Soobin sighs, frowning, "Yeosang, Hwanwoong and Sammy are in the other room."
Just three.
Why just three?
"Where is Ten and Felix?"
Soobin and Wooyoung didn't say anything, forcing Jimin to slam his fists against the glass, feeling his throat tighten to their silence, "Why aren't you a-answering me? Where's Ten and Felix! What do they fucking what?!"
"The answer is simple," A voice spoke behind him, freezing him on the spot, "We want you."
A voice....
That voice....
Jimin freezes, seeing from the reflection of the glass two people approaching him, stopping a few feet back.
Aggressively Soobin shouts, "Don't fucking touch him! You will not take him too!"
Jimin's lips are parted, breath heaving deeply past his lips before it came out as a wheeze, hands on the glass scrunching up to a fists.
This isn't real.
This is not real.
He's hallucinating -
"Why would I not touch him?" It's true, "He's my son."
Wooyoung and Soobin are still, completely still, just as Jimin slowly turns around before he let's out a horrified sob to the two familiar individuals standing before him.
The same people who cleaned up his murder.
The same people who pressured him to be normal.
Who fucked up with his head.
No, they're not the same people -
"Y-You," Jimin shutters, standing upright, "You're the rulers of Orchids?"
His mother, the woman once dressed in only baggy jeans and worn-out t-shirts is now before him with a cleaned up white dress with her make up even neatly done.
His mother hated make-up.
The woman he knew hated dressew.
And his father who he was never seen him in a suit before is dressed in a clean-cut white attire, even his once messed up hair is smoothed back and away from his face.
T-They...... They look like his parents.
But they're not.
They can't be the same people.
"This is why we wanted you to come home honey," The same woman who sounded like his mother pleaded, smiling sadly, "We knew you were getting involved with Oasis, and we wanted to protect you."
Jimin is standing there, unmovable, not even breathing by this point, his mind barely even here by this point.
Nothing makes sense.....
He was with his parents all the time before college, and they never -
This isn't the life Jimin remembered!
Closing his eyes forcefully, Jimin rubs his chest, "N-No. Orchids have been an enemy to Oasis long before me -"
"Do you know why they were an enemy son?" His father spoke this time, "A seven-year-old boy kills a civilian. Orchids did not have police connects so they went to the empire who did, and they did it because they owed us for bringing Jeongguk back when he was kidnapped by a common enemy empire - who are long gone, thanks to us."
"LIAR!" Soobin shouted, "It was Orchids who took him-"
"Oh, is that the word that's going around?" Jimin's mother chuckles, "Guess what, we brought the kid back. He owed us, that's why did it so willingly without asking for anything in return. Where things grow like shit is when they decided to bombard one of our hide outs. Since then we've been at each other's throats."
This..... This is all too much information that Jimin while growing up would've known or seen the signs.
They lived in a shitty neighborhood for crying out loud, they didn't have this type of luxury or even a good cost of living.
Jimin grinds his teeth together, shaking his head, "No, I don't believe you."
His father sighs, taking out a cigarette from his pocket, "Where do you think you know how to fight? Believe it's just human instincts to go into a defensive kill when someone charges at you?"
Jimin's heart skips a beat in his chest, forcing him to stumble back and out of breath.
His fighting skills.
Being able to defend himself.
Instincts, he knows those were instincts.
"You didn't learn it from it blossoming inside you," His mother continues, staring at the glass, "Our issue with Oasis got too intensive, and we wanted you to be prepared to defend yourself."
There's tears in Jimin's eyes now, laughing to himself psychotically before he shakes his head, "Nice try, but I think I would remember all this bullshit if it happened."
His mother is standing in front of him now, her piercing eyes staring into his, forcing his smile down.
"Remember those therapists we would see, hypnosis, helping you with your trauma?" She remarks calmly, running a shiver down his spine, "They weren't for you to forget you killer Vernon, but for you to forget Orchids, and play a fake memory in your head of another reality. A reality where you were a normal kid."
That was a bullet wound to Jimin's heart, a fatal shot.
And at that moment, it was as though..... Everything was released.
Everything.
Dropping to his knees, Jimin hugs his chest as he chokes on air, a migraine so brutal purging in his head that forced a weak wheeze out of his lips.
"Blank spots in your memory, impulsive behavior, psychotic melt downs, it all correlates back to this Jimin," His father chimes in, "You weren't ready to be heir, and we were waiting for you to be at a right age to tell you, but when we saw you associating with Oasis, we had to take matters into our own hands."
Those times Yeosang and Jimin were ambushed, Jimin being taken, all the chasing and running - it was all their attempts on bringing Jimin home.
Back to them, while attempting on taking Oasis down in the process.
T-This.... These memories..... No...
Taemin's face was a wave that collided against Jimin's consciousness, forcing this numbness mixed with hate to spiral and spirial to a never ending wave, "T-Taemin died.... Protecting me... A-And you're telling me it was because you wanted me - LIVES ARE NOT A FUCKING JOKE!"
"Of course it's not," His father says, "So you have a choice, come home here with us."
Jimin's eye twitched, "Or what?"
"Or," He trails off, "We kill them."
Guards suddenly charged into the same room with Wooyoung and Soobin, guns in hand and pointing it to their heads.
Jimin shoots to his feet, facing them, "S-STOP! DON'T HURT THEM!"
"It's all your choice son."
Wooyoung glares behind Jimin, sneering, "Don't do what they say Jimin! It's your life!"
Jimin's lips wobbled, "B-But they'll kill you -"
"As if it's that easy."
Abruptly Soobin and Wooyoung shoot out from their restraints and violently takes the guns from the guards before shooting their face.
Wooyoung....
There's not a place where Wooyoung can't escape.
His specialty is weapons after all.
"We can handle our own," Soobin snarls, holding the gun upright, "Don't do it."
Jimin weakly smiles to them with a nod before turning around to his parents, sneering, "Don't underestimate Oasis. I have a choice, and I choose to stand my ground and burn this empire to the ground!"
His parents did not seem pleased.
No, they definitely weren't.
"Have it your way."
In the room suddenly guns were shifted out from the walls, pointing directly to Wooyoung and Soobin. Both men jumped back, the horror in their eyes as they looked around before Wooyoung attempted to go to the door, but having it being only locked, even when he tried to shoot the handle.
And a timer pops up on the window.
Ten seconds.
Jimin hysterically looks at his parents, "DON'T DO THIS! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!"
"You know what you must do!"
Soobin and Wooyoung attempted blasting the glass with their guns, but it was breaking or shattering. Shifting to the guns against the wall to shoot it, even slam the fucking chairs on it but they weren't breaking.
Five seconds.
Jimin's trembled in fear, "P-PLEASE! I'LL DO IT! I'LL COME HOME!"
Wooyoung and Soobin looked at him when he said those words, and immediately a pained expression filled their eyes - just as the timer stopped.
Yet the air was tense as though it was still being marked down.
"Don't do this," Wooyoung whispers, "Not for us."
Soobin looks at him with teary eyes, "I never fucked liked you," He gasps in his breath, frowning, "This life isn't yours, you don't need to be part of it, so don't do it for us."
Wooyoung and Soobin suddenly turned around to face each other, nuzzling their foreheads together while point the guns to each other's temple.
Jimin lips parted, slamming his fist against the glass, "What are you doing! D-Don't! Stop! Please!"
Wooyoung closes his eyes, lips wobbled, blocking out Jimin's hysterical cries from the other side of the glass, "Just you and I."
Soobin carefully traces his hand to the back of Wooyoung's neck, caressing his skin, "We'll rise up from the ashes like a Phoenix, this isn't the end."
"Mhm."
Everything from there was slowed down. Jimin banging on the glass, begging his parents to let him inside, both Wooyoung and Soobin removing the safety of their guns, the sound of a heart beating so loud it was nearly deafening.
That followed by a haunting phrase.
"Long Live Oasis."
And then a gun shot.
Jimin is paralyzed.
The glass of his orbs reflecting the fall of his two friends when they pulled the trigger, making the sacrifice just for him.
Just so he wouldn't be in this empire.
Just like Taemin for him to be alive.
All of them taking their final breath..... For him.
Another death that he caused.
"So tragic," His mother sighs, "This wouldn't have happened if only you came home sooner."
His fault.
They would be alive if he was gone sooner.
If he came home sooner.
If he disappeared sooner.
If he never met them.
They would be in that warehouse; Taemin would be in that practice room, going over his moves with a knife and physical combat. Felix and Wooyoung would be in the tech room, figuring out ways on how to enhance their weapons. Soobin would be focusing on polishing his cars. Hwanwoong would be negotiating business with other gangs and avoiding the cops. Ten and Woosung would probably be married, who knows, sounds like something chaotically they'd do.
And Yeosang.....
Yeosang would likely be studying for his classes, refusing to be the heir, but refusing to be away from his friends.
His family.
Phoenix.
And Jimin came and fucked it all up without him realizing it.
Little by little every memory in his head with them burned, right before his eyes, ashes down to nothing but faint lost memories and pieces of a life he was once in.
Numbing it all down like a needle of amnesia to push every core of his body a raging strength and anger with himself, coming it down to feel nothing.
Looking at those bodies and feel nothing.
Orchid blood is through his veins, and he's a walk disaster as this empire is.
He always knew something was wrong with him.
And now.... He has to stop running.
With a monotone face, Jimin turns around, facing his parents with that emptiness in his eyes.
It's time he takes responsibility, so no one else gets hurt because of him.
"I'll take my position as heir to the empire," Jimin says coldly, making a small smile flicker his father's lips, "But before I do that, I want to see the rest. They have to know."
"They'll kill you."
Jimin blinks at them, "We're taking Oasis down, aren't we?" He mutters, "I know their weakness, and that's how they'll go down, now let's move."
He knows their weakness alright.
And it's not who everyone expects it to be.
Not even the Spawn himself.
