Chapter 21

"What now?" I ask glumly, sitting on a couch.

"We need too move, Rolly will be back, I know that much." Bane replied

"Where though!" I roll over, regarding Bane.

"The Hidden towns, what you see here is just the main fighting force, but many of the risistances men and women escaped, we still can fight back. Plus many of the Hidden towns are turning too our cause." Bane sighed.

"Where's the nearest Hidden town?" Frederick asked, helping steady some of the revived people.

"Close, I can take us there, but I have a question, where's Tracey?"

Oh god... Please no!

She wasn't there, I realize I haven't seen her since we were at the native temple... We teleported without her, some how, some way, but she was back there. Arnold was there, that meant the Resistance had her. I lie down on the couch, feeling the guilt weigh on my shoulders.

"Its not your fault Liam, the best thing we can do is make our way to a Hidden town." Bane tells me, "We'll be there in seconds, I can teleport to the one I've been too."

I grab his hand and suddenly I'm on a cliffs edge alone with Bane, he disappears and reappears seconds later with a few more people. I look off the edge into a valley, a small village rests at the very bottom. I assume this is what a hidden town is like. I sit on the rocky cliffs edge and pout. I felt useless.

Bane puts a hand on my shoulder. "It's okay, we'll get her back."

I don't believe him. We make our way across rocky terrain until we make it down to the valley, some of the injured were having a hard time and I was forced to help out and carry a younger kid with the help of Will.

Eventually after what seemed like hours we reach the village. We stop about twenty meters from the first house. People from the town, had a few guards stationed, they blocked the path to the entrance.

"I told you, we'll have no business with the resistance! No matter how many times Arnold sends you, the answer is no!" One man yells.

"We are not with Arnold, we are the other resistance who seek shelter and food, we have wounded men and women who are in need of medical assistance." Bane replied to the man who addressed them.

The mans face changed from stern to joy. "Welcome! It would be our pleasure to assist you!" He greeted them with a new attitude.

We entered the village with the man, he told us his name was Daniel. "When are you leaving?" Daniel asked Bane.

"Soon enough, we don't want to bring misgivings to your small village."

Daniel laughed. "Ok, but I doubt much would care if we helped anyways. We're just a small village."

I followed Daniel with Will and Bane. Bane was given a room in Daniel house where they could talk freely. Will and I would share a house with some common folk. I enter my room with a sick feeling, it was small and dusty and Will and I had to share a bunk-bed. It could be worse, better then being a rotting skull.

"People! Hi people! My name is Elliott!" Came a squeal from the room outside ours.

I walk out to see a little boy who must be younger than eight. He jittered in excitement. "Elli! Those are our guest, be nice to them!" Said a woman who just entered. "Hello. Sorry if Elliott gave you any trouble, he's just excited since he hasn't seen any people from outside the village before."

With that Elliott ran up to us and jumped on Will, he staggered to the ground from his weight and laughed. Elliott seemed confused, "Mommy, why don't the people have our birth mark?"

"Elli, that birthmark is our special one, remember? It's only worn by us!"

Elliott wasn't done yet, "what are the peoples names?"

"I'm Liam and this is Will," I volunteer.

"Ok, persons one and two." He says nodding at Will than me.

"I think it's your bed time Elli, go get your teeth brushed."

"But-"

"I said go!"

He mumbled something about meanie weenie and trudged into the bathroom.

The women smiled, "Sorry about that, Elliott can be a bit of a trouble maker when he wants something, my name is Jamie by the way, I'll try to make this place as comfortable as possible for you!"

"Thank you, we'll just stay in our room or out of the house, we don't want to be a burden." I reply with a friendly smile.

"Well actually, can you m-" I elbow Will in the stomach and lead him away, he grumbles. "I was going to ask for a massage man! Why not take an opportunity!" He cries when we're in our room.

"Bro, they're nice enough to let us in and sleep here. At least be nice!"

"I am nice! They would have the chance to meet me!"

"Cause your such a god." I say dryly.

"Exactly!" He exclaims, not at all hearing my sarcasm.

I find Bane waiting for me outside the house. "Daniel says we can stay here for a few days to heal our wounded and rest up. He has about twelve guards with magical capability who are keeping watch so the resistance can't get the jump on us."

"What if they come?"

"Daniel said he has it covered, if things get bad he'll send you an escort."

With that he left me with Jamie, Elliott, and the 'God'. Elliott walked up to Bane who was down the street heading back to Daniels house.

"Excuse me person. Do you have a name? Most peoples have a name!"

"Bane, nice to meet you, what's your name?"

"I'm Elliott, nice to meet you persons three!" He laughed and ran off to find some friends.

Bane awkwardly started heading back again.

I laugh with Will, leaning against him for support. "What do you want to do?" Will asks, mischief on his face.

"Sleep, we have been awake for like two days straight bro!" I complain.

"Ya ya whatever, I'll join you after I find a way to make pigs fly," he nods towards the pig pen a few houses down, holding a few sheep and pigs.

I leave Will to his impossible task, but with Will nothing was impossible. Especially when it involves a prank, tacos or just plain fun. I hop in bed and close my eyes to sleep. I don't want dreams of anything. Nothing. Not Tracey especially.

But meh, what was I expecting? A break from my torment of the past and present? Not a chance... Have I mentioned life hates me?
