Chapter 6: "At least i'm not dressed like some prostitute,"

I'm at my locker getting the books I need while talking to Kinsley and Jocelyn. Jocelyn tells me we should all hang out this weekend. Kinsley then mentions a party this Friday at one of the jock's houses. I tell her I'll consider it and see if my brother's going.  Suddenly I hear the loud clicks of shoes that echo in the hallway. I turn to see where the noise coming from and boy its s a sight.

It's a barbie doll dressed in all pink with blond hair. The dress that she's got on is so short it looks like it could be a shirt. A pair of heels so high it looks like she's walking on sticks. Don't even get me started on her face. Makeup caked up on her face looking like it could fall off with just one movement.  I wouldn't be surprised if she looked plain under all that makeup.

"Ughh not this girl again," Kinsley says.

"Here comes the hoe," Jocelyn adds.

The barbie walks down the hallway like she owns the school. I turn back to my locker making sure I have what I need and then close it. I turn and see barbie right in front of me with a smile on her face.

"Hi, I'm Brittney Peterson. You must be Aaliyah right?" she asks me.

I eye her. "Yeah,"  I say drawing it out.

She inspects her nails. "I heard about you and Halden and I'm warning you to stay away from him. He's mine got it? Don't think that you can have him because you can't," She says with a smirk.

"Please, he wouldn't give you a single thought," Kinsley says.

Brittney turns to her. "Was I talking to you bitch? I thought not," she says glaring at her.

"Don't talk to her like that. Your the bitch not her," Jocelyn says with an angry expression.

"I wasn't talking to you either slut. If I were you I would keep my fucking mouth shut," She says harshly to Jocelyn. Jocelyn looks down at the floor avoiding our eyes.

I clench my fist with a pissed look on my face.

"Why don't you get out of our fucking faces," I say in a deadly calm voice.

She looks back at me. "Who do you think you are?" She asks me.

I step up close to her. "You don't wanna know trust me," I tell her.

"I don't get why everyone's afraid of you. I mean you think your all that but your not. You're not even pretty. Your clothes are even ugly," she adds making me even more pissed.

I let out a harsh laugh. "At least I'm not dressed like some prostitute," I say with a smirk.

Her mouth drops open and then closes. She glares at me and gives me a final warning.

"Stay away from Halden or you'll regret it," she says and walks away.

It took all of me to not punch her right then and there. I was this close to beating her ass to the ground and then walking away.

I turn to look at my friends. Kinsley is pissed off and Jocelyn looks sad?

"Are you okay Jocelyn?" I ask with concern. She looks up at me.

"Yeah I'm fine," she says with a slight smile. She's not fine. Not even close.

"Hey don't let her get to you okay? She's just trying to intimidate you," I tell her.

"Yeah Aaliyah's right," Kinsley replies." You can't keep letting me talk to you like that. She wants you to be afraid of her. She wants you to bow down but we're not gonna let her are we?" Kinsley adds.

Jocelyn sniffles and then smiles a big smile. "No, I'm not. From now on if she says something I'm not gonna cower down. I'm gonna stick up for myself," She says.

Kinsley hugs her. "There's the best friend I know," she says and Jocelyn hugs her back.

I don't join in because I just met them so I don't know them very well and I don't do hugs. I'm not a hugger. The only person I've hugged is my twin brother and my best friends back in Florida. Other than that I don't hug anyone else. Not even my parents.

I just now notice that the hallways are now almost empty and people are heading to class.

"Hey guys shouldn't we be heading to class," I say to them.

Kinsley's eyes widen. "Oh shit, you're right. C'mon let's go," Kinsley says.

I pick up my bag and the three of us head to the gym for PE.

*********

We enter the gym and most of our classmates are already changed and ready to go. They do the boys and girls in a class together instead of separate. At my old school, it wasn't like this. They did boys one side girls on the other.

This will be interesting. Wait till my brother finds out about this.

"We need to go to the locker room and get changed," Kinsley tells us.

We head over to the locker and go inside. I look around and see that's it is clean and not messy at all. The locker room smells nice too. Thank god for that because I would've got some air freshener from the janitors and sprayed it.

"I'm assuming you don't have a uniform yet?" Kinsley ask me while changing.

I just shake my head while admiring the locker room.

She hands me a pair of matching shirts and shorts. "Here, I have an extra one you can borrow. Then you can get your own from the coach," She tells me.

"Thank you," I say and then head over to a free locker. I sat my bag down and begin getting out my clothes and changing into the shorts and shirt. Once I have then on I grave a hair tie from my back and tie my hair into a ponytail. I see a mirror and I go to it to see how I look. The shirt is just my size but it's shot like a crop top and the shorts are booty shorts that show off my thighs and legs. Well, I figured that much. All my tattoos are on display from my arms, my stomach, my thighs, and my ankles. The only ones people can't see are the ones on my back.

I hear a gasp and turn around to see Kinsley with her hand to her mouth.

"Holy shit. That's a lot of tattoos," she says.

I let out a chuckle. "Yeah, that's what everybody says," I said.

I hear another gasp and this time it's from Jocelyn. "OMG, I love your tattoos," she says.

I smile at her. "Thanks for the compliment," I tell her.

"Sure, no problem," she tells me.

We walk out of the locker and over to where the rest of my classmates are standing. The coach has his clipboard and he's already taking the role.

"Aaliyah Crossley?" He calls out.

I raise my hand so he can see. "Here," I say.  He looks over to me and raises his eyebrows.

"Ah, you must be the new student. Welcome, I am your PE coach Mr. Miller and it's a pleasure to have you in my class," he tells me.

"Back at ya sir," I say.

Feel free to ask me any questions or you can ask anyone in this class," He says.

I look over to my classmates and see them already looking at me. Some have bored expressions on their face and some of them look like they just don't wanna be here.  same here but hey we don't always get to choose what we wanna do. Life isn't always fair. I learned that the hard way.

Suddenly there's a loud boom and we look over to see the bad boys just walking in.

"WHAT's UP JAKE?" the third boy, I think his name is Grayson, shouts.

Coach Miller sighs. "How many times do I have to tell you. It's Coach Miller," he says.

Grayson smirks. "But Jake is better," he says and winks.

"Let's me guess. You're late because you choose to be?" he asks.

"Bingo," the second guy whose name I forgot says.

"Kaiden I had high hopes for you. I thought you would be the good one," Coach Miller says.

Oh, now I remember his name.

Kaiden just smirks. "With all due respect Coach, I think we all know I was bound to turn into a bad boy sooner or later," he replies.

Coach just shakes his head and looks at the one in the middle with raised eyebrows.

"Halden? Do you have something to say?" He asked
Halden looks at him blankly.  "If I had something to say, wouldn't I be talking?" He asks in a bored tone

Coach looks ready to go over there but he closes his eyes and exhales.
"Just go change. You are already wasting my time and others people's time. I need to teach the class," he said, dismissing them.

"I mean I don't understand how that's my problem but whatever," Halden replies again and goes into the locker room with Kaiden and Grayson following behind.

"Now let's get started. Today you will run five laps around the track, then we will do our stretches, and then play some basketball," he says with excitement in his voice.

A bunch of groans is heard from people, including my new friends but I just smirk. This is gonna be so easy. I've always loved running and I used to do track at my old school. I do stretches all the time since I work out and basketball is my favorite sport. I can't count how many times I've beat my brother at it. I'm very competitive when it comes to sports.

"Don't start groaning or I'm going to add more laps," he yells and that shuts everybody up.

I hear a door open and I turn to it and see the three bad boys coming out, changed into t-shirts and basketball shorts.

"We're ready Jake," Grayson yells irritating the coach even more.
"Let's just get this over with," the coach mutters and we all head outside to the track.

"This is gonna be hell," Kinsley complains
"You got that right," Jocelyn adds
"Oh, cmon guys. It's not gonna be that bad," I try to say with a cheerful voice knowing it's fake.

"For you, it won't be. You used to this stuff. I can tell. Don't think I didn't see those abs of yours," Kinsley points out.

I laugh. "Yeah true," I say

We line up with everybody else. I'm in the front with a couple of other people. Most people are in the back. I already can tell they are slow people.

"ON YOUR MARK! GET SET, GO!" Coach shouts and we all start running.

I start off jogging for the first lap and then I'll increase my speed gradually. Some people passed me and I just let them past. I'll catch up to them soon. I notice the bad boys up ahead and I smirk. Just wait. Soon I finish my first lap and I increase my speed and start sprinting, catching up with the others. I passed the people that start slowing down including Kinsley and Jocelyn. Soon I'm right behind the people who are way ahead. I'm determined to pass them. I start sprinting and I pass this girl and two other boys who look like they are about to pass out.   I keep my eyes ahead, not looking anywhere else. I see the bad boys up ahead as I get closer and closer to them.
If you didn't know I'm on my third lap now.

I reach them and past Grayson first. He looks at me and his jaw drops. I just smirk. Then I passed Kaiden who doesn't notice me at first till he turns his head. He looks surprised. I bet he didn't even know I was in this class. I keep running, never stopping, never getting tired. Halden is only a few feet away from me and I increase my speed till I'm right next to him.

He's running with his eyes facing straight. Sweat dripping down his forehead to his chest. His white T-shirt is so soaked you can see his abs.
Damn those abs. NO! You need to focus. Get your head back in it.

I turn my head back to the front and that's when he finally notices me. He turns his head and looks at me, with no emotion at all.

I just smirk at him and go ahead of him. I hear him increasing his speed too but I'm way faster than him. I'm so close to finishing I can feel it.
When I run, everyone around me disappears. It's just me and the track.

Next thing you know I'm back where we first started. I came in first! I take deep breaths in and
our trying to slow my heartbeat.

Out of the corner of my eye, Halden finishes, and then Kaiden, and then Grayson.  They look tired and sweaty. Hot too I must admit.

Coach walks up to me with a smile on his face.
"I'm impressed. No one had ever managed to beat those three boys. Not even a girl for once. Your strong I can tell. We could use you on the team" he says.

"Thanks! I used to run track at my old school but I've decided not to do it this year," I say to him.

"Well, that's such a shame. We could use you, but I respect your decision. As for the rest of you guys, you could all stand to learn a lesson for this girl right here," he points to me.

I look around at everyone else. Most people look like they are about to pass out.

Coach blows his whistle. "Everybody back inside the gym. Time for stretches," he yells.

Kinsley and Jocelyn both run up to me.
"Girl I can't believe you just beat the bad boys at running. Like no one has ever been able to do that," Kinsley exclaims.

I just shrug. "Running has always been my favorite thing to do. Besides I beat my brother at it all the time," I say while we walk.

"You girl, are something else," Jocelyn says
I chuckle. "Yeah I get that a lot," I reply

We walk back into the gym and from behind me, I hear voices talking and whispering. I couple of them I can make out and I already know who they are. Wanna take a guess?

The bad boys.
"Dude I didn't know she could run like that. I mean she's extremely fast. Faster than Halden.
Also, how did I not see her in this class? I mean she's the new girl," Grayson said.

"Gee idk dude. Maybe it's the fact that you haven't shut up since we got in here," Kaiden said annoyed.

"Ok first of all you know I always love messing with Coach and second of all talking is one of the favorite characteristics that people love about me," he says with sass.

"It's also an annoying characteristic," Kaiden mutters.

Grayson gasps. "Ok now your just killing my vibe dude," he says dramatically.

"Whatever. About what you were saying before, I was pretty shocked too. I mean a girl beating us? That's a first. She's also pretty hot too I must admit," Kaiden says.

"That's what I said. The coach even asked her if she wants to join the track team but she said no. I wonder why? She did tell him she used to run at her old school. I bet she came in first place every time," Grayson replies.

"Yeah, your right about that. Hey, you ok man?" Kaiden asks someone.

"Yeah just tired I guess," Halden says. He must don't talk much I'm assuming.

Kaiden probably raised his eyebrows at that. "Oh yeah? Let me guess you got a late-night hookup?" He says. I make a disgusted face at that.

"Nah, just some family stuff," he says with some kind of emotion I can't decipher.

"Do you need to stay over at my place for a little bit?" Kaiden asks with concern.

"No, I'm good. You know how my parents are dude," Halden says.

"Yeah we know dude," Kaiden said and sighs

"Aww, Kaiden do you need a hug from Gray Gray?" Grayson asks in a baby tone. I have to stifle my laugh.

Halden scoffs abs I bet he's rolling his eyes,

"Ughh I swear you are a child trapped in a teenage body," Kaiden says.

"I am not," he says defending himself. They keep on arguing for a few minutes.

Someone grabs my wrists and I go on defense mode immediately until I see that it's Kinsley starting at me with concern on your face.

"You okay girl? You've been out of it like for the past five minutes," she says.

"Hmm? Oh, yea I'm fine," I say to her.

"You're sure? Cuz you were pretty spaced our and I know you didn't hear a word of what we were saying," Jocelyn chimes in.

I wave it off. "Yeah, I'm good. Just thinking about some stuff," I say.

She wiggles her eyebrows. "You mean hot stuff," she teases and winks.

"What? No way. Plus I don't even know what you're talking about," I say.

"I'm talking Halden. Girl doesn't tell me you haven't thought of him. I mean have you seen him shirtless? That man has an 8 pack. I mean how is that even possible. The things I would do to that man," she explains while fanning herself with her hand.

"She got that right. All three of them are hot as hell. If I had to choose I would choose Kaiden. He's fine as fuck," Kinsley says blushing.

"Do I smell a crush?" I ask her with raised eyebrows.

She looks at my wide eyes "What? NO! No way. Besides there's no way he would ever go out with a girl like me when he could get any girl to be wanted. I doubt he even knows I exist," she says with a small frown.

I grab her shoulders and turn her toward me.
"Hey don't be putting yourself down like that okay? You are beautiful, smart, sarcastic, extremely funny, and badass," I tell her, she laughs at that last one. I go on.
"You can get any guy you want. If he doesn't like you, then fuck him. That's his loss. There are plenty of other guys out there waiting in line just for you. That's what matters," I tell her.

"Aww, thanks. I needed that. It boosted my confidence up even more," she says

"Anytime girl anytime. Just don't tell anyone I told you this, or we gonna have a problem," I say with a straight face.

She chuckles. "Okay, whatever you say," she replies.

"Aww I think I'm gonna cry," Jocelyn says wiping a fake tear.

"Please don't," I say. We all laugh at that.

****

Soon the rest of PE class flies by and we are back in the locker room getting ready to head to our last two classes of the day.

I hear some of the girls whisper as I'm putting my shirt on and  I know my tattoos are visible but I don't care. They can talk all they want. They don't know me so they don't have a right to judge. How would they feel if I was judging them and I don't even know them? This kinda stuff pisses me off but I don't let it get to me.

After putting on my clothes, I comb through my hair and grab my back ready to head out. I give Kinsley her shirt back and head out the locker room. I go over to the wall and lean against it waiting for my friends to come out. I take out my phone and see I have 15 text messages from Jake, 20 messages from Alaysiah, and 18 from Kalijah. Oh shit, I forgot to text or call them yesterday. They're probably mad and worried about me. I'll test them now then call me back later.

                   ~ Group chat~
Aaliyah: Hey sorry I didn't text you guys yesterday. I was just so busy with things I kinda forgot. Will you forgive me?

Alaysiah: forgot? Did you forget about your own best friends? I'm hurt😢😢
Aaliyah: I'm sorry
Jake: it's ok. We understand
Kalijah: yeah we get it. You just moved in so you're still settling.
Aaliyah: Yeah the time is different here so I got to get used to it. Also, I'm at school
Jake: you're at your new school already?
Kalijah: omggg😱 what is it like?

Alaysiah: already? That was quick😂😂😂
Aaliyah: yeah it was but I'll tell y'all about it later over FaceTime.
Jake: kk Ttyl
Kalijah: peace out
Alaysiah: bye bitch
Aaliyah: bye lol

I'm grinning down at my phone and I chuckle. Suddenly I get a feeling someone is watching me and I look up into a pair of dark brown eyes. The same eyes that were watching me earlier this morning. Only this time I keep hold of the eye contact, not breaking it. I feel like I'm staring into his soul. His eyes have a coldness to them that makes me want to shiver. Usually, I can read people, but I can't for some reason.  It is like staring into complete darkness with no light whatsoever.  He then breaks the eye contact and turns back to his friends who seemed to be in a deep conversation.

I stare at him for a few more minutes then look back down at my phone. I didn't even that Kinsley and Jocelyn had already came out of the locker room.

"What was that about?" Jocelyn ask me.

"What was what?" I ask confused.

This time Kinsley raises her eyebrows. "You and Halden staring at each other?" She asks

I shrug playing nonchalantly. "I don't know what you're talking about," I say lying

She narrows her eyes. "We'll let it go for now. Just know this conversation is not done," she says

I shrug again. "Ok," I say. At that moment the bell rings and we all head to our final two classes for the day.

"We're both heading to fashion, what about you?" Jocelyn asks me. I look at my schedule and groan.

"World History," I say.
"Oh dang. Who's the teacher?" Kinsley asks.

"Mr. Henderson," I say.

"They both groan. You got the most boring teacher in the whole school. He just gives y'all work and then he goes to sleep for the rest of the class," Jocelyn

"Oh really? Well, this should be fun," I say grinning.

"You'd gonna cause trouble in that class aren't ya?" Kinsley questions as he looks at me warily.

"Yup! And I can't wait," I say

They both laugh and wave goodbye as I head to my class. I'm gonna make this class as fun as possible I say to myself.

I'm back!!!!! It's forever but now I'm finally back working on this book and I have so many new fresh ideas. You guys have no idea how long I've been working on this chapter trying to get it posted and now it is. Hope you enjoyed it.

What do y'all think of the bad boys now?

Do you think it's bad that Aaliyah didn't text her friends?

What about when Aaliyah was running in PE? Did you think she would win?

Do any of y'all have song requests for the upcoming chapters?
