Chapter Three
"Arcee!" Arcee stood at attention as the autobot instructor stood in front of her. The dim light in the training room relfected off of his silver helm as he peered into her optics. He moved down the line, calling the rest of the class.
"I am assigning you a partner," the instructor announced after he had accounted for every student. "You will keep this partner for the remainder of the year. In this class, they are your other half. Anything you do in here will be with them. You will learn to work with them or rest assured, you will not graduate this academy. Is that clear?"
"Sir, yes, sir!" The class replied in unison.
"In battle you will be asked to fight alongside people you do not like. You will be asked to defend the sparks of those who you may not see eye to eye with, who you disagree with, who you care nothing for. In battle, no one cares how you feel about your assignment, and niether should you. You will carry it out with the same dignity, efficiency and coordination as you would if it that bot was your own carrier. Is that clear?"
"Sir, yes, sir!" He nodded.
"Very well. Your partner assignments have already been posted on the wall over there. Find your partner and await further instruction."
The class rushed to the datapad suspended on the wall of the training room. Some students grumbled quietly as the viewed their assignments, while others cheered happily. Arcee hung back, uninterested in clamoring unnecessarily with the rest of her classmates. She was the last to observe the list. She had been paired with "B-127".
"Who in Kaon is B-127?" she asked herself.
"That would be me," a voice said from behind her. She turned around to find herself facing a yellow and black mech. He extended his servo in greeting. "You must be Arcee." she professionally excepted his servo and they shook.
"You would be correct," she affirmed.
"I guess we're partners now," he said.
"I guess so."
