Finding the Bull

Sunset Stables was any kind of western style stable you can think of. It was actually made if sandstone. As the friends walked in, a man walked up to them. He had blonde hair and was wearing an aqua blue equestrian outfit.

"Well, good morning, young equestrians. I'm Diego, the director here at Sunset Stables. How can I help you on this fine morning?" he asked.

"We're looking for Kanan, the Bull." Zachary said.

"Geez, how long has it been? I tell you, time really does fly. I haven't heard that name in a long time. I don't know for sure if he's here or not, but you're welcome to look around."

"Thanks Diego." Kimberly said.

They dismounted their horses and started to look around. They were looking for the horse statue that was there. They checked the race track and obstacle course, but the statue was nowhere to be found.

"Hey, kids. You find the statue yet?" Ezra asked.

"No... do you have an idea on where it might be?" Samuel asked.

"I do! Check the wagon yard. That's where Kanan always hung around. He and Barbell would pull different carts and wagons around the track. It's just a hunch, but it's a good theory," Angelica said.

"Okay, we'll check there. Stay connected, okay?" Kimberly asked.

"Will do. Good luck."

After that, there was silence.

"Okay, anyone know where the wagon yard is?" Zachary asked.

"I do." said a voice behind them.

They turned around and saw Diego.

"Care to show us the way?" Violet asked.

"Follow me." he said.

Diego started walking to the other side of the stables with the four teens following. When they got there, a lot of different colored wagons and carts could be seen, and in the center of it all, was the horse statue.

"Kanan and Barbell would love to come here every morning just to train. Watching those two were a sight to see." Diego said.

"Are you related to Kanan?" Samuel asked.

Diego was quiet.

"Kanan... he was my..." he started.

"Brother?" Zachary asked.

"Yeah..."

"You're just like Elizabeth. Ezra was her brother... We're you two close?" Violet asked.

"Very. I'm his younger brother, and I always looked up to him. I even saw him as my rival, but it was just for fun. He always took me to his secret course to test his strength, to go beyond his limit... I just wish I could see his bright and friendly smile again every time he went beyond his limit."

"We promise, when we find Kanan, you'll be the first to see him." Kimberly said.

"Thank you. That would mean the world to me."

The teens smiled at him, and then turned their attention back to the statue. Kimberly walked up to it and flipped the switch. The ground started to shake, and as all the other times, a staircase appeared before them.

"Zach, get Barbell. We're going to need him." Kimberly instructed.

Zachary nodded, and whistled. In seconds, Barbell came galloping over.

"Oh, before you go, there's something you need to know about Kanan's course," Diego said.

"What is it?" Violet asked.

"The track is one big circle with pressure plates on the ground. On the wall is a scale, telling you the weight of the wagon or cart you're pulling, not counting the weight of the horse or the rider. If you can pull more than one thousand pounds, Kanan will be set free."

"Okay, thanks for the info, Diego." Samuel said.

"Anything to help you bring my brother back... Good luck you guys."

They nodded and went down the staircase, with Zachary and Barbell leading the way.

"Don't worry Kane. They'll free you, I just know they will." Diego said.
