Chapter Seven

=Lucas's POV=

There I was, face-to-face with the Nightmare King. Of course, I had run-ins with him in the past, but I was always with my friends before! I was alone this time, and Nightmare Steve knew it.

What if I can't get away? What if Nightmare Steve locks me up and I can't find my friends? My thoughts sprung to life again in my head. Then I remembered the time I was captured by Shadow Steve. He had thrown a knife at me, and I didn't want to die.

Before the knife reached me, I had reached into the game code and deleted the file. This had given me an overwhelming sense of power, so I promised myself I'd never do it again, in fear of becoming a power-hungry lunatic.

But if I couldn't get past Nightmare, then it was game-over. I wouldn't be able to find Sabre or Light. Evil would win... No. I won't let that happen. I had to either fight or run, and right now, it looked like a good time to run.

"Bye bye!" I said. Binary code swirled around me and covered my vision, and the next thing I knew, I was back home. I was on my hands and knees on the floor as binary code glitched over my bision and smoked from my hands. I fell to my side, unable to keep myself up. The power was overwhelming me. My body was too weak to take it...

I forced myself up nonetheless. I had to help my friends if they were in trouble. Each step I took was painful. My body needed to be stronger, do I needed to train. Hey, I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you from now on, okay?

Those words... I had promised Rainbow Steve that nothing bad would happen to him... Right before he died... I grimaced as I made my way down the hall. I glanced to my left, into Sabre's room. It was empty and dark, plated of food scattered, sharpie on the walls, and the four rainbow-colored daggers I made for him stuck into the wall.

Sabre needs my help... I thought. Binary code started to infect my skin. I stumbled to my room and took off my vest, replacing it with my red jacket, then changing my shorts for jeans. I sat on my bed and ran my hands though my messy hair in frustration.

All of a sudden, though, it became clear on what I should do. Binary code lit up in front of me. "Locate..." I muttered. "Locate... FavreMySabre.chr..." I pressed the code In front of me, only for it to glitch out and read, 'FavreMySabre.chr does not exist'.
