Chapter One

=Sabre's POV=

I sat in the corner of my dark, empty room. Ever since he had died, I wouldn't let go. I wanted to believe that he was still alive, but I knew that I had killed him. It had been several weeks since then, but I still felt terrible guilt, and I hadn't been out of my room for a few weeks by now.

I looked at the walls, which had writing all over them. A single sharpie layed in the opposite corner, seemingly mocking me. All I did was bury my head into my arms and cry.

A terrible storm was raging outside, but it didn't bother me. In fact, I enjoyed the sound of the thunder claps, and the flashes of light across the room. I listened to the pitter patter of the rain drops on my window and walls. Alone, they were small, but they could be a flood when together.

Then I heard a small knock on the door. I looked at the space underneath my door, seeing a plate of food being slid underneath. I looked at my dinner, and decided to ignore it. I wasn't hungry. I hadn't been for all those weeks I had locked myself in here.

Tears dripped from my eyes onto the wooden floor. I missed my best friend, and I would do anything to just see him again. Then I made my decision. I got up and opened the cutains to my window, looking out at the town. I donned my white cloak and opened the window, climbing out and onto the roof.

I looked over to the tower, then the giant tree, then finally, the temple. I just stood there for a few seconds, letting the rain wash away the false coloring in my hair, revealing its true color. Standing at the lowest point of the roof, I looked down. It was only sixty feet. I could survive that, right? It took sixty-three feet to kill.

I was running away. I just wanted to leave. Like, erase myself and just become a ghost or something. "Goodbye, Lucas, chickens, Fake Lucas..... everyone and everything." I wispered, just before jumping, leaving low health, and running far, far away from everything.

My friends, practically my family, wouldn't have to worry about me anymore. I wouldn't have to care for anyone else. I could just be alone and gone, and I just wouldn't exist anymore.

I stopped running for a few seconds, just to look back at the town, before turning away and leaving my old life behind and letting it fade out of my render distance, forever.

=Lucas's POV=

It was morning. I got up and made breakfast for Sabre and I. Leaving one of the dishes on the table, I walked to Sabre's room and knocked on his door, sliding the plate under. I waited a bit, hearing nothing. "Sabre? I know you don't want to talk, but please, just say something so I know you're alive." I said sadly.

I waited for a little, but no responses came. I sighed, resorting to my last option. I walked over to the storage room. I grabbed some keys I had hidden under one of the chests, mostly for unlocking things, and went back to Sabre's room.

I unlocked the door and opened it slightly, expecting a plate to be thrown at me. Sabre had thrown crazy temper tantrums soon after Rainbow Steve had died, but he'd settled down since then. All the plates were piled up in a corner, the food still on them. I poked my head in, looking for Sabre. He wasn't there.

I timidly went into Sabre's room, still expecting something violent to happen. My friend hadn't had human contact for weeks, and he could've been on edge. I saw the graffiti mess of words on his wall. I finally looked to the right and saw an open window. On the frame, written in sharpie, were two words.

I'm sorry.

I teared up. Sabre had run away. And it was recently, too, seeming as some of the newest dishes were piled in that corner of his. I dropped down to my knees. "Sabre...." I mumbled, "why...?"

He ran away from home. But why? I was so confused. First Light, then Rainbow, and now Sabre was gone!

"Sabre, I'll find you.... I promise."
