I just wanna say that I feel completely undeserving of how much attention this book got so fast! And how supportive you guys are honestly I can't thank you enough! That's why I keep thanking you cause I'm grateful for the attention and you guys! ❤️)
Without the slightest hesitation, dororo dragged the man into the town. And I had to follow behind.
And almost immediately after we walked in, we were already getting some attention from the townsfolk.
"Greetings, travelers!" They seemed to be quite welcoming towards new travelers.
"What brings you three here on such a lovely day?"
"You see, we heard that you guys are struggling with a monster- and my friend here can help you with that! I saw him slay a demon with my own two eyes!" Dororo gave the man a light nudge to his side, causing the man to look down at dororo with a look of confusion. He probably doesn't even know why he's here. And is unaware that a child is trying to hire him into killing a monster.
Its like tossing a random dog you see on the streets into a dog fight. Where its left confused to why its there. And has no idea what they're supposed to do.
"Uhm- yes! Matter of fact, we are dealing with a monster! But are you sure that this man will be capable of helping us with it?" The elderly man looked over at me, like he was asking me the question. Probably wanting to hear my thoughts.
"Well. I never got to see the man kill a demon. But I was close to the scene." Even I had trouble believing that the man killed a demon.
But he seemed to catch those fish from earlier from the stream just flawlessly. And he had two blades attached to his arms. That probably would have nothing to do with him going around to fight monsters.
Maybe catching the fish three times in a row was just luck?? I don't know! He's really confusing! Its all just questions on top of questions.
"I know I saw it! He turned that beast into tiny bits and pieces!" Dororo exclaimed, making a bunch of hand motions like he was acting out what he saw.
And upon hearing the story, a crowd formed around us. Seeming to have taken an interest in the story. And many hopeful eyes.
"Well, how fortunate you came! If you kill the monster, our village with pay you greatly! Am I right?" The elderly man smiled, turning back to the crowd, and there were many nods of agreement and a soft murmur within the crowd.
"I like the way you talk, Chief!" Dororo spoke with arrogance, walking over to the elderly man and giving him a pat.
"Oh! I'm not the chief. I'm just filling in for her. Chief bandai injured her legs, and she left me on charge till she healed! Call me Denkichi. You three can stay at my place for tonight- and I can prepare a feast for your bravery and arrival!" Denkichi bowed his head showing respect to us- especially the man.
Dororos eyes lit up upon hearing Denkichi say the word 'feast'. "Oh! Yes, I like the way you talk!"
Hm. Dororo is quite arrogant- is he not? And its something that may have to be fixed up.
"Yes. Now please, follow me this way. You three are probably tired from your journey. Let me take you back to my place to rest. Then we can have a feast!" The man flashed a welcoming smile at us, motioning his hand to follow. Before he finally began walking.
Dororo skipped right along. And the silent man stood there. I felt kinda bad. He probably has no idea what he's got into.
"Cmon. Let's go." I spoke in a gentle tone, taking his prosthetic hand, and leading him to fofollow the two others before they went too far ahead.
Later~
The feast was finished. And I don't think we've eaten so much in forever! How do they afford all this? And have these Nice house's too?
"Ahh. I don't think I've had that much to eat in ages!" Dororo let out a heavy relaxed sigh, leaning back on the hay of the stable we were sleeping in for tonight.
"Yeah. Same goes here.."
I was exhausted. And I just wanted to sleep. My head rested on the hay stack, and my (e/c) eyes shifted their focus onto the man. Who just sat there, looking into space. Like he was a statue or something. Cause he was so still and quiet. He's the Shadow of the group, while dororo is the enthusiastic one of the group. And I guess I'm a little in between. Maybe a bit more towards the quiet type. But probably not as quiet as the man.
"Welp. Goodnight! We need to rest up plenty if we're going to have enough energy to kill that monster tomorrow." Dororo smiled, resting his head on his hands, and closing his eyes to fall asleep.
"Yeah. Goodnight.." I yawn tiredly. My eyelids growing heavy. I shut my eyes, and i was already beginning to fall into a deep sleep. I got tired pretty fast. And usually I struggle when it comes to sleeping. But this is nice...
Before I could be fast asleep, I feel another body come closer to me. "Hm. What..?" I whisper, rubbing my eyes opened. And turning around to see that the man has decided to sleep next to me. Being too tired to even care, I just accepted that he chose to be my my side. And I close my eyes once more. Feeling slightly more comfortable. And a whole lot safer.
Maybe its all those stories I've heard of him slaying a monster. And I wanted to believe them. And having him right there made me feel like if a monster were to come and try to hurt us, I wouldn't have to worry. Cause I have a warrior protecting me.
Soon enough, I fell into a deep sleep.
