Chapter-6

I woke up to the stormy weather. It was raining heavily with the clouds covering the sun and the thunder shaking the earth. I stood by the balcony railing with the rain drops pattering upon the window glass, the trees swishing and swaying in the cool breeze and the smell of new rain, filling my soul with pleasure. I took a steam bath to freshen up and had a mug of hot chocolate. I sat down at my study desk near the open window and took out The Soulmate Guide.

Welcome Blake! A new day, a new beginning and a new characteristic of your soulmate. You are nearing her with every page, every step and as every characteristic unveils, you will be one step closer to the love of your life.
"Finally," I gasped.
You are worried aren't you? There are so many people in this world who have dark eyes. In every corner, you will find somebody who has dark eyes. Thus, analyzing the difficulties here, let me leave behind a big hint. It will help you if you are wise enough, or probably not if you are foolish and I have full faith that you belong to the latter category. Well, without further delay, let me tell you that your soulmate is one of your batchmates. You have felt her beside you. You have seen her with those dark eyes of yours. Keep trying hard. All for today, my boy until next time.

I closed the book with an unexpected satisfaction. I was somewhat happy because of the fact that I have actually met her. Maybe never talked but it gave me a good feeling. A feeling of hope and positivity. Suddenly, I heard my mother coming upstairs but before I could stash the guide in my open school bag, she arrived.

"What are you hiding Blake? Won't you show it to your mom?" she asked curiously.
"Noth... Nothing mom. I..it is just a book." I said nervously.
" Show it to me." She said almost snatching the book from my hand. I became pale.

What on earth will happen now?

"Oh, it is just a blank notebook. Why were you behaving like you were hiding some kind of weapon?", she said giggling.

"Yeah... Umm...it is blank. That is what I wanted to say." I said stammering.

"Come down for lunch." she instructed and went away.

Breathing heavily, I quickly opened the book only to find that the book was still printed with words and pictures.

Phenomenal. Phew! It was magical. It saved me.

I quickly stashed it in my bag and made my way downstairs for lunch. After having my fill, I went to my room again and wrote down the new characteristic in my soulmate journal. Batchmate. I kept smiling like an idiot. This girl, who probably I have never even had a conversation with, was already driving me crazy. The thought of her presence, her aura, everything made my tummy flutter.

Oh no! It was 5 pm already. I opened my cupboard and took out the shirt which I was supposed to wear for the party. It was a navy blue shirt with royal blue checks that was front open to reveal a faded grey t-shirt and I paired it with blue ripped denims of a lighter shade. I got ready in almost an hour and drove to Ethan's place. From there, we both drove to the location and reached it in about 20 minutes.

James and Stacy were already there, along with a couple of few others, including Fiona.

She looked cute in a strapless red mini dress. Her blonde curls reached her shoulders, while her bold lipstick and a mole near her lips made her look like Marylin Monroe.

We all waited for the other guests to come. My attention was diverted by the sound of a car horn at the main gate. Two young girls got out from it. Leah and Rachel. Leah wore an off-shoulder pastel pink dress which complimented her fair skin. She wore glittery pink wedges and had kept her straight hair open. Her hazel eyes shone brightly and her rosy cheeks...Damn! She looked drop-dead gorgeous.

"She looks beautiful man!" Ethan mumbled.

"Huh?" I asked him.

"Just look at Rachel, doesn't she look beautiful?" Ethan repeated.

"Oh yeah... She does." I replied chuckling.

To be honest, I hadn't noticed Rachel, but she looked nice too. Not as pretty as Leah, but presentable. We all gathered together in the dining hall for dinner.

"Hey loser, had your fill?" I asked Leah.

"A snack can't eat another snack dumbo." She smirked.

"Oh my God somebody is turning savage day by day." I teased her.

"You deserve it." She smiled sarcastically.

Suddenly, there was an announcement on the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen, take your partner's hands in yours. It's time to shake a leg." The announcement was followed by a loud hoot as everyone started stepping on the dance floor with their partners.

"Wanna give it a try, loser?" I asked her rather sheepishly.

"I would love to but unfortunately, I will end up breaking your pinky finger." she said giggling.

"You can go with someone else maybe, I will stay here itself." She continued.
"Alone? Where is Rachel?" I asked.

"She is on the floor with Ethan," She whispered excitedly.

"But I can't leave you alone. I will stay." I insisted.

"Hey Blake! Let's dance," Fiona interrupted us.
"But..." I spoke hesitantly.
"Sure. Take him." Leah chimed in.
I reluctantly followed Fiona to the dance floor.

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark,
With you between my arms,
Barefoot on the grass,
Listening to our favourite song.

The song played as I looked into Fiona's dark eyes. She held my shoulder as we both danced to the tune of the song. We both got pretty involved in each other's company as a thought struck me.

Where was Leah?

She was no more there at the spot where I had left her.
I started panicking. "Just excuse me, Fiona. I am really sorry, gotta go." I ran panting heavily without even waiting for Fiona to respond.

Leah was nowhere in sight. Damn, where was she?
