A Little Twin

She had grown just a little,
When one fine day she met her twin.
I often wondered about twins.
What bond they share?
Are they alike or different?

Left alone on the fluffy bed,
Her tiny head turned around
Just to find another one like her.
A little body with small arms
And eyes full of innocence.
She laughed at him.
He returned back the humour.
She doesn't know why she did,
But I do.

For another soul had come with her,
With me.
Someone who was far too pure,
Purer than shining gold.
An innocence he carried,
More than what he required.

'The world is shrewd. How will you survive?" she asked.

'There will always be a place for me," he said giggling.

The elders looked amused
As they wondered about their exchange.
They don't know it yet
And perhaps they never will.

'I will protect you, little brother," she swore, eyes shining.
Though born on the same day,
One was ages older.
Some say that he is a little one still
And she the eldest.
