Lucy

"When are we leaving?" I ask Faye as we walk together towards the dragon's tree. I've been given permisson to enter Dragon's Cove now, because I have proven my alliance.

Faye looked thoughtful as we walked together. I was looking at the tree, amazed by it's size and beauty of it. If I was amazed by the tree, I wonder how my reaction to all of the dragons would be.

"I'd say in a couple weeks," Faye finally replied, steping over a large clump of grass.

"Oh." I nod, continuing forward. "Have you told your parents?"

She scrunched her face up. "Crap, no. I don't think I will either, because they're going to probably lock me in the room for the rest of my life if i so much as suggested it."

I laugh. "I'm afraid to say that's true."

She rolled her eyes and we finally made it to the entrance. "Ready?"

"They won't like me," I warn her quietly, putting my hands in my pockets.

She rolled her eyes again. "Luce, you never know."

"The minute a dragon welcomes a former Slayer," I say dryly, raising an eyebrow at her, "will be the moment you can rub it in my face."

She didn't answer as we walked inside.

I gasp softly at the sight. Dragons, everywhere! They flew, perched, and even played.

"Wow." I gaze around.

"Most of these dragons are those without a Rider," Faye explains, rubbing her arms even though it was warm in here. "But some do have one."

I nod, still gazing around.

It was then that something caught my attention. It was a dragon, and I couldn't explain it but I felt a tug towards it. It had large wings, a long tail, and broad legs. It's scales werre smooth, sleek, and round and neat, and it's eyes were a icy blue. It had sharp spikes running down it's tail, which was lazily splayed across the ground.

What scared me, though, was the color. It was the color of newly fallen snow, but a sharp ice white as well. It's underbelly was a pale gray.

"..and there's a lake downstairs," Faye was telling me. "Luce?"

I ignored her, walking towards the dragon, eyes wide. When I'm five feet from it, it lowers it's head and looks me in the eye.

Why is it staring at me? I wondered.

The dragon twitches it's nostrils, as though it had heard me.

"Lucy! Wh-" Faye was cut off with a gasp. I looked back and saw her hands covering her mouth, eyes wide.

"Greetings, Lucy." A male voice filled my head. I freeze, glancing around rapidly.

Am I going insane? I thought wildly, biting my lip.

"No," the voice replied, sounding amused.

"Yup," I confirmed. "Going insane."

"Lucy. Turn around."

For some crazy reason, I do. The white dragon is now face to face with me.

"I know your name, but you do not know mine." His gaze made me feel protected for some reason, calm.

"What is it?" I ask, concluding that the voice was the dragon's.

"I am Klemes," he announced, raising his head high. "And you are my rider."

I gasped.
