Chapter 42: Visiting Jordan

Greetings, lovelies! How are you?

I'm going to try to finish this book up within these next couple days. After this is posted, there's only three chapters plus the epilogue left. O:

I can't believe it tbh..

Paul Bettany as Lucy's father off to the side!

NOTE: I do NOT own the picture, nor do I claim I do. That goes to it's rightful owner!

Also to the side: 'Shatter Me' by Lindsey Stirling featuring Lzzy Hale. Such a good song! I love Lindsey Stirling!

NOTE: I do NOT own the song, video, or lyrics, nor do I claim I do. All those go to their rightful owners.

Enjoy!

I slip my pea coat on as I watch the news on the television. It's twenty degrees out with a high chance of snow. Wonderful.

Jackson sees my grimaced expression and rubs my shoulders. "It can't be that bad, can it?"

I groaned, putting my head on his chest. "Not that bad? Jackson it's cold out."

"You make it sound like the world's ending." He raises an eyebrow.

"It probably is," I muttered.

"You're dramatic," he told me, kissing my forehead.

"No I'm not," I protest, pulling away and facing him with my arms crossed. "I'm only stating my feelings about the weather."

He chuckled as he turned off the television. "Alright, then."

"Stop making fun of me, you ass!" I cried, pouting. He was, as usual, enjoying my dilemma.

"Oh come on," he says, rolling his eyes. "I'm not making fun of you, love."

"Yes you are."

"No I'm not."

"I'm always right," I reminded him, tapping my foot.

"Why are you so moody?" he shot back, smirking.

"Because I'm a girl," I reply dryly. "Girls are always hormonal and moody."

He chuckled, pecking me on the lips. "That's very true."

I smiled at him, my irritation floating away. "I wish I could stay mad at you."

He raised an eyebrow, smirking again. "Can't resist this, love."

"Now you're just being a jerk."

We laugh together as we turn off the lights and step out the door.

Once we're in the car, Jackson says, "So when are they releasing Jordan?"

I tap my fingers against my leg. We were going to visit Jordan, so that's why Jackson was curious, I think. "I think she said tomorrow. The babies are really healthy and well, to the doctors surprise, so they should be released sooner than we expected."

He nods, looking thoughtful as he backed out of the driveway. "Ah. Well, I wonder how she is. Being cooped up in a hospital for a long time can drive anyone to insanity."

"I know the feeling," I agree, thinking back to the time I was in the hospital due to being shot. I shudder a little. "It's not exactly a place to relax at."

He watches me for a moment, before turning back to the road. "I can't say it is."

--

"I'm so bored, Faye," Jordan whines as soon as we enter the room. She sitting on the couch this time, but still connected to some cords. "Tell them to let me out of this wretched place!"

"Can't do that," I told her sympathetically. "The doctor decides when he thinks you're okay to go home, not me. Although you look pretty normal to me, with that complaining."

She scowled at me, crossing her arms like a child. "You are supposed to be on my side in this argument."

I shrugged, sitting down beside her. "Sorry, sis."

"It's not okay," she mumbled childishly.

"Hey," I said lightly, rubbing her arm, smiling, "the doctor said you have a high chance of being released tomorrow. That's good, isn't it?"

"Yeah," she agreed reluctantly. "I just wish tomorrow would come sooner."

"I know."

"Now that you're here," she chirped then, brighter. "You have to pay attention to me."

"Yep." I roll my eyes.

"I won't be so lonely!"

I raise an eyebrow at Jackson. "And you say I'm dramatic."

"Once again," he said, a smile on his face, "sister like sister."

"What?" Jordan looked confused.

I explained how Jackson told me a couple weeks ago that we were super alike.

"That's true," Jordan mused, head tilted. "You are indeed a lot like me."

I grin at her.

-------

"Bye, Jord," I hug her lightly as she pouted up at me.

"Bye, Faye," she mumbles, not happy that we have to leave."

"Don't pout," I reply, tapping her nose. "We'll be here to get you and the twins tomorrow, okay?"

She smiled then, happy to hear that. "Okay. I'll be waiting."

I wink at her as Jackson takes my hand and leads me out of the hospital.

The drive home was quiet, but not awkward. Jackson talked some with Arch, who came to visit for a little bit. The two seem to have a lot in common beside the fact Arch is a demon and Jackson isn't.

I stay up late that night, laying in bed beside a sleeping Jackson. I think about everything that's happened these past few months, and I realize a lot went on. From Jen's death, to me being shot, to my wedding, to the twins being born.

I frowned as I messed with the ring on my finger as I think of Leto. We haven't trained a lot lately, and that made me oddly sad. Leto's been shutting me out, and it's hurting me.

I ask her why she's acting differently, and all she did was say, "It's nothing you need to worry about, little one. Get some rest, it's late."

I felt her go silent in my head, her thoughts were scattered indicating she had fallen asleep just minutes after talking to her. I knew I could easily enter her mind, or catch snatches of her thoughts and memories without waking her, but I would never do that to Leto. Rider and dragon or not, special bond or not, it's not right to invade the privacy of another. I was curious, but I wasn't adventurous enough to invade her thoughts.

I have my private thoughts, and so does Leto. She's my friend, my dragon, and I won't ever damage our bond just because I was butthurt about her attitude change.

-----

Apologies for the shortness.

What do you guys think is going on with Leto?

Until next time!
