Chapter 37: Leto Time

So, the highest vote for the new book title was The Trust of a Dragon Rider..with zero votes for the second title. xD

Amanda Peet has Jackson's Mother to the side.

NOTE: I do not own the picture, nor do I claim I do. That goes to it's rightful owner.

'Just Dance 4' by Lindsey Stirling to the side as well..AWESSOMME SONG.

NOTE: I do not own the lyrics, song, or video, nor do I claim I do. All those go to their rightful owners.

And I can't believe all the votes and reads I have been getting on THOADR! It's amazing, guys, thanks so much!

"Wake up," a voice says to me. I felt like I was being shaken slightly, so I peel open my eyes with groan.

"What?" I mumble.

"You need to go home and get some rest," Jackson told me, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

I yawn, "Don't be ridiculous. I'm fine."

"Let's go," was his only reply. I grumbled and curl up more on the couch, pulling the blanket over my head.

"Damn it Faye," he muttered, snatching the blanket off.

"Stoop!" I whine, pouting. "I want my blanket!"

Jordan chuckled from the bed.

"You can sleep in a nice, comfortable bed when we get home," he replied, throwing th blanket on the couch.

I sighed and swung my feet over the couch and got up. "You're seriously gonna make your tired wife walk all the way down?"

"No." Next thing I know I'm being held bridal style.

"Jackson!" I whine, slapping his chest. "Put me down!"

"Nope. I'm not gonna make my tired wife walk all the way down, so I'm carrying you."

I snort and cross my arms as he walks past Jordan, who was smirking and trying not to laugh. "Bye, sis. Have fun."

"Screw you!" I call back. I hear laughter from the room.

--

I woke up, face flat on the bed. I slept like I baby, I knew that much, but no more.

I'm gonna be a horrible parent one day.

And then the thought struck me. I may never even have a child.

I frown sadly, my hands automatically going to my abdomen.

"What's wrong, love?" I turn and see Jackson standing behind the bed, eyes on me.

"N-nothing, don't worry about it." I brought my knees up to my chin and thought about the twins Jordan had. They were beautiful. I got to see them last night before I fell asleep, and they looked so much like Jordan.

"Butterfly, I know you're lying," Jackson says, walking over and sitting down. "Now tell me what's wrong."

I took in a gulp of air and let it out, sniffling. "Jackson..you want kids right?"

A flash of surprise crossed his face. "Yes, love, of course."

I look down. "Too bad," I whisper.

"Faye." He puts two fingers under my chin and makes me look up at him. "You're not..?"

"No," I said. But I wish I was. Just to prove that I can get pregnant.

"Then why did you ask that question," he murmured, thumb rubbing my cheek.

"Remember when I was shot, and I told you later I couldn't have children?" I ask, sniffling.

He frowns. "Yes, but you told me there's a chance-"

"A one percent chance, Jackson!" I cried back. "One percent! And ninety percent chance of miscarriage."

"That doesn't mean it's impossible, Faye," Jackson whispered, kissing my forehead, then my nose. "It's just going to be difficult."

"Sure," I agree, wiping my eyes, "but how many times will I have to feel the disappointment when I figure out I'm not pregnant?"

He rubs my shoulders. "I'm willing to chance the disappointment, if it means we'll be able to have children one day."

"If," I said bitterly.

"I promise," he said sternly, his lips brushing mine, "we will have a child one day. Alright?"

I nod against his lips as he gently pushed me back onto the bed.

---

I walk out to a giant field where Leto told me she'd be.

"Leto?" I found her curled up, snoozing slightly.

Her big crystal blue eyes opened and she looks at me. "Hi there, Faye."

"Hey, Leto."

Her tail shifts as she sits up. "What's got you down, child?"

I told her about the conversation I had with Jackson this morning.

Leto puts her head near my knee and nudged it. I put my hand on her head, letting my fingers brush her skin and then up her horns.

"I'm sorry, little one," she murmured, sympathy in her gaze. "I can feel your pain just by letting my emotions intertwine with yours."

I nodded, noticing I felt a pang of sympathy even though Leto wasn't sad or down. It must be her sympathy she was feeling for me.

"Although," Leto comments, "you do have a feeling of high affection."

Oh god. I blushed wildly, biting my lip in embarrassment. "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, Leto. Gosh."

Leto had an amused twinkle in her eye. "It's a feeling of high intensity."

"Leto!"

She ignored me, continuing on, "I'm not going to invade your memories, but by the sound of it I assume you've mated with your Jackson."

"God. Leto..erg..stop!" I lightly hit her scaled neck, blushing.

She raised her head and playfully snarled at me. She then shot up and circled around me like a wolf, only quicker, and curled around me. I was in complete darkness.

"Leto," I say sternly. "Let me out."

"No."

"N-no?" I scowl at her side and poked her. "Why not?"

"Simply because I am never letting you out of my sight again. You can be my hatchling."

"Leto, I am so not a hatchling."

"Quiet your tongue. Go to bed," her tone was playful. She was enjoying teasing me!

"Leto it's one in the afternoon. Not hardly time for bed yet," I replied, rolling my eyes. "Stupid dragons."

Suddenly she uncurled around me and was face to face with me, a puff of smoke blowing in my face. "Excuse me, puny human?"

She was both amused and playfully glaring at me.

"You heard me, you great big lumbering beast." I cross my arms and give her a smug smile.

Her wings shot from her sides and she roars. "I will show you big and lumbering."

She lunged up into the sky and disappeared.

"Real funny, Leto," I call up.

She didn't reply, but I did see a white speck in the air. My jaw dropped as she was racing towards me, claws outstretched.

"Leto, don't do it," I warned with a smile, but I was ready. Her front two feet grabbed my shoulders gently and she took off again. I grin and she lightens her grip on me so I can climb up her leg onto her back.

"Big and lumbering my tail," she scoffs as I finally reach her back. She flew down into the clouds at incredible speed, making me yelp in amazement.

"Maybe not so lumbering," I relent, "But you're still a big beast."

She laughs softly. "I will not deny that."
