Chapter 28: Cake Choices
Greetings. Yes, that's right. I'm posting on a Friday morning.
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO INSERT PHOTOS TO THE STORY. ANYWAYS:
Faye as Jennifer Lawrence to the side :) --->
I DO NOT OWN THE PICTURE. IT GOES TO IT'S RIGHTFUL OWNER.
I had no school! XD Woot!
Enjoy!

"Faye?"
I look up from the black binder, which held pretty designs of cakes on paper that was inside the binder, all nice and perfect. "Yes?"
Jackson's mother shifted in her chair as if she were uncomfortable and crossed her hands together on the table. "Have you picked one. Not to rush you," she added in a tone that said differently.
I felt annoyance crawl up me like a spider. This woman was getting on my nerves, and frankly I didn't have the patience to be nice.
"No," I said, trying to be kind as I said it. "Not yet."
She pursed her lips. "That one," she said pointing to a tall cake with white flowers on the edges and a blue lily on top. "is a pretty one."
Well it's not your wedding, I thought.
"Yeah," I lied. "I like it. But I want to keep looking."
The wrinkles on her face deepened, and she looked like she wanted to say something. Jackson, however, shot her a warning look from my side.
"Take your time," she said cheerfully, though it sounded forced.
I nod, looking back down at the binder and taking my time now. So far I found two cakes I liked, which were pretty expensive and really big. The first I found was a tall, light blue cake with snowflake designs on the edges, as well as circling each layer. The second was a white one with elegant buck toppers circling each side of the layers, one white, then one black, then another white and so on.
"I like this one," I told Jackson later, pointing to the second one. Jackson scoots closer to me and tilts his head at it. "I like it too."
I smile and he kisses my forehead. "Alright, Mom, I think we got one."
Jackson's mother, looking relieved, nodded and took the binder from him. She cleared her throat after putting the binder into her bag and said, "Thank you for letting me come over."
"You're welcome," I said. I shrug, adding, "Really, it was no problem. I'm glad you let me pick the cake out."
She smiled again, this time a real smile, and said, "I'm glad, too. I feel bad that the wedding is being planned by someone else. You barely get to voice your opinion."
I shrug. "It's fine. Not your fault."
We get to our feet without talking and push in the kitchen chairs. She says to me, "It was nice to see you again, Faye."
"You too," I replied as Jackson and I led her to the front door.
"Love you Jackson," Mrs. Jackson said, hugging Jackson and smiling.
"Love you too, Mom," he chuckled, rubbing her back a moment before pulling away.
She hugged me as well, to my surprise, and said, "See you soon."
"Yep." I pull away a few moments later, looking at her.
"Be safe, Mom," Jackson calls as she walks out the door to her car.
She waves him off, chuckling. "I will, hon."
When we shut the door, I lean against it and let out a breath. "Well.."
Jackson chuckles and stares at me. "I could tell you were being very strained near my mother."
I felt a little bad. "Sorry. She just.."
"Annoyed you? Irritated you?" Jackson walked towards me, placing his hands on either side of me and leaning down. "Infuriated you?"
"All of the above," I told him, snorting.
He chuckled again, his warm minty breath on my face. "You passed the test."
"The test?" I raise an eyebrow, ignoring the warm feeling in the pit of my stomach as he drew closer to me.
"My mother was testing you the whole time," Jackson said, his eyes on my face. "Watching you. Studying."
"What made me pass?"
"You weren't intimidated by her." His fingers trailed down my arms, sending shudders through my body.
"I'm hard to intimidate," I reply, my voice heavy. I was jelly in his goddamned hands..again.
"Do I intimidate you, butterfly?" he whispered in my ear, lips grazing my earlobe. I didn't care, the pleasure was too great.
"No," I manage, digging my fingernails into the palms of my hand.
"Good." His lips brushed my neck, and I moaned quietly.
"What was that I heard?" he asked, amusement lacing his voice as he put his hands on my waist.
"Nothing." I bit my lip, my eyes travelling around the hallway. I only just noticed the beauty of the main hallway, which was brown hardwood without a dent and light brown walls with white trim.
"I don't think I believe you."
I kissed him, my lips blazing with want and need. His fingers brushed down my hips and he pulled me to his chest, closer than before.
I bit his lip, and he kissed me harder.
"Faye?" I heard the backdoor shut and Jackson and I pulled apart fast.
"In here!" I call, trying to make my voice sound steady.
"Where is 'here' Faye?" Jordan yelled. "Seriously."
"In the hall!"
Jordan walked in, wearing jeans and a long sleeved shirt. Her belly was showing more so, but it wasn't huge. She was, of course, eating a sandwich.
"Where are mom and dad?" she asked.
"I think they had a meeting of some sort," I told her, shuffling awkwardly away from Jackson.
She eyed us, her eyes first on me, then to Jackson, then to me again while chewing her sandwich.
After swallowing, she nods. "Okay, well, I'll be with Arch for a while if you need me."
"Okay." I nod.
"Don't do anything I would do," she hollers back as she makes her way to the kitchen.
"Oh shut up," I yell back.
"What a weird family," Jackson says, shaking his head.
"You'll soon be apart of this weird family." I poked his chest and said, "Anyways I'm hungry and bored. Let's go get food and see a movie."
"As you wish," Jackson said, and we went to our separate rooms to get ready.
~*~*~*~*~
I added a little more black eyeliner to give the cat-eye eyeliner look. At least it wasn't overdone.
I was wearing a nice white dress with pale grey designs on it with one of those big brown pelts around the waist, a jean jacket, and some brown flats. My hair was straightened and I braided two parts of my hair that went around each side of my head and met at the back, making a water-drop like end.
I grabbed my over the shoulder brown leather purse and put my phone and some money in it and glanced at myself one more time before coming out of my room.
I make my way across the whole upstairs to Jackson's room and knock on it.
When he opens it, my jaw drops. He's wearing really nice jeans and a blue sweater with a collar shirt under it. He had on sneakers, which made the outfit look nice. His hair was it's usual ruffled wavy texture, but slightly flattened.
"You look," I said, "nice. Really really nice."
He smirked, chuckling. "Take a picture it'll last longer."
He had to say it. He had to ruin the moment.
"Asshole," I mumble, "you ruined the nice moment."
"I apologize."
"You don't regret it, do you?"
"No. Not in the least."
"I figured." We smiled at each other and he takes my hand. "Ready to go?"
"Yep." I nod.
