I lean my head back against the comfortable plane seat, yawning for the hundredth time already.

"Stop yawning, already," Jackson mumbles from besides me, not opening his eyes.

"It's not my fault," I protest quietly even though only me, mom, dad, Jordan, Quince, Lucy, and Ken were the only ones on the plane. "It's boring sitting on this plane for hours."

He chuckled. "I'm guessing you would of rather rode Leto?"

"Yes." I nod. "But I can't still, which sucks. A lot."

He gives me a sympathetic smile. "I'm sure it does," he replied, "But once you're better you can ride again, right?"

I nodded, sighing. "Yeah, but that will take a little while."

"I know." He wraps his arm around me, and I lay my head on his chest.

*

"Faye." I was awakened, my eyes opening slowly.

"Hmm?" I sit up, wiping my eyes. "Yeah?"

"We're nearly to Dragon's Cove," Jackson replied, brushing hair from my face. "We just have to drop Ken and Lucy off near the hotel they're staying at."

"Alright." I yawned, twisting around. I turn back to the front and look out the window. The sky was clear and it's usual blue, and  I sighed in content. "It would be a good day for riding."

I heard Jackson shift and say, "Yeah."

"You okay?" I peek an eye open and look at him. "You look uncomfortable."

"It isn't you," he replied, looking down at me. "I'm just worried about you. I feel like anything you do will hurt you."

I smiled at his concern and lean up to kiss his cheek. "It's okay, Jackson. I'm fine, really."

"Still." He leaned his head back against the chair. "I'm so uneasy right now, anything out of place and I'm ready to protect you."

I sit up completely this time and put my hand against his cheek. "Jackson. Look at me, please."

He turns his head towards me, and I look into his eyes. His eyes were raging with battle, as if he was fighting an endless battle against his emotions. I run my thumb down his cheeks, taking in everything as they slide across his skin.

"I'm okay," I tell him gently, my not looking away from him as he blinked his chocolate brown eyes every now and then. "See?" I gently let go of him and scoot away, gesturing to my body.

He watches me, then after a minute silence he nods. "I-I know..I'm just worried and scared."

"I know," I say, smiling softly at him.

"We're about to land!" Mom calls to us, causing us to shoot our heads towards the direction her voice came.

"Alright!" I reply, turning back to Jackson and kissing his cheek. "We better get strap in, for the landing."

He nodded and we put our seat-belts on. The plane flew down with ease and only bumped a little when the wheels hit the ground, and smoothly glided across the landing then stopped.

We unstrapped the seat-belts and got up. Jackson moved aside to let me through first, and I smiled a thanks at him before scooting by him and make my way to Lucy and Ken's seats.

"Hey." I put my hand on the seat ahead of them and look at them as they get to their feet somewhat tiredly, yawning and shuffling. "You guys'll be okay right?"

Lucy blinked a few times, as if she were trying to comprehend my words. Maybe she just woke up, judging by the droopy look on her face.

"Yeah," she finally says, grabbing her bag. "Of course we'll be okay."

"Besides," Ken added, glancing at Lucy, "when have we ever not been okay?"

"Well," I say. "What about that time you found me and Leto, and I was pissed off at you?"

"That doesn't count," he protested, and Lucy nodded in agreement.

"Yeah," Lucy said again, "It wasn't intentional.."

"Still." I crossed my arms, smiling at them. "Just stay low, alright?"

"We promise." Lucy hugged me briefly, making her way past me. Ken kissed my forehead and followed Lucy down the isle.

"They'll be fine," Jackson promised, taking his hand in mine and looking down at me. "They know how to fight, and I'm pretty sure Lucy will scare them away with those gloves of hers."

"I heard that!" she yelled, turning her head to us. She wasn't smiling, but had laughter in her eyes. She was dressed in dark skinny jeans, jet black tank-top, with a matching leather jacket, her boots were black and leather as well, decorated with spikes.

Her black hair was in a high pony tail, her highlights a radiation green. She had gloves on, black of course, that had holes where the fingers were. So her fingers showed, but her hands were covered otherwise.

"And FYI," she adds, smirking, "my gloves are the sexiest thing on this plane."

I laughed, while Jackson looked flabbergasted. Quince fell out of her chair and Ken was fighting to keep a straight face.

"But I'm here," Jackson protests, eyes wide.

"And yet," Lucy says, smirking still but jokingly, "my gloves are better looking than you."

"Are not," Jackson grumbled as Lucy and Ken descended from the plane, laughing.

"Aw," I tease him when we sit back down, "is your ego hurt?"

"Very much," he whined, pouting. I'll admit, him pouting his absolutely adorable. Not that I'd say that out loud, of course.

Twenty minutes later, we landed again, this time right outside of Dragon's Cove.

"Can you see it?" I asked when we grabbed our stuff and got off the plane.

He walked besides me, carrying my duffel bag over his shoulder while carrying his own. I had my backpack, but it was light. No heavy stuff, according to Mom, which made me grumpy. "See what?"

"Dragon's Cove," I said in a duh-tone.

Mom and Dad chuckled as they walked ahead, Jordan and Quince trailing behind us.

"Of course I can."

"How?" I ask, tilting my head at him. "I didn't think warlocks or witches could."

"They usually can't," Jackson told me, smiling.

When we got to our house in the private neighborhood, Jackson put my duffel bag in my room before going to his own room to settle in.

I lat on the bed, yawning. I can't believe we're actually back here at Dragon's Cove.

I haven't talked to her in a while, so I reach out to Leto.

"Leto?" I ask. "Are you awake?"

"Yes." Her voice fills my head, comforting me instantly. I smiled, leaning against the pillows.

"Did you make it to Dragon's Cove alright?" I asked her, fiddling with my necklace and thinking about her.

"I did," she tells me kindly, "As did Althaia and Ariston. We didn't have any trouble getting here."

"That's good," I told her honestly. "Did you hunt?"

"Ariston did. We shared the kill."

" Cool," I reply. "Leto?"

"Yes?" she asked me, and I thought for a moment. I really wanted to train, and get a chance to ride Leto again. Yeah, I've rode her a few times and all and it was fun, but I want to actually wanted to learn all the ways to fight and ride.

I want to be able fly everywhere with Leto, maybe travel the world, even.

"Faye?" Her voice snapped me from my thoughts and I stay quiet a moment.

"Leto do you think we'll be able to train and fly?"

"Of course," she says, her tone honest and sweet. "Your mother said you just needed rest first."

"I know," I say, sighing and looking at the designs of the comforter. "It just feels like forever."

****

We went out to the bar and grill a little later, and of course it was loud. Football was on, and Dad  and Jackson were yelling as loud as they can which amused me and Jordan and Mom.

After dinner, we walked around a little while.

"Hey Mom?" I ask as we walked down the village trails.

"Yes?"

"Can you tell me more about the Hovers?" I asked her, "And the magic?"

"Sure." She smiles and looks thoughtful, Jordan and Quince slient except for their footsteps next to me. "Well. Remember when I told you how people turned against Cain and started their own Hovers?"

"Yep," I answered, remembering that very clearly.

"They turned against Cain because they thought he was too powerful," Mom begins, "even though he never took advantage of it, nor did he ever consider his own power. Not once. Cain was humble, I guess is the word, and he was the one who always kept the peace between quarreling Hover members."

"Then why did they hate him so much?"

"Like I said," Mom reminded me, "they thought he was too powerful. They were scared of him, even though he never gave them anything to be scared of. He only used it against his enemies, to protect his friends and family.

"A day after a small skirmish with a group of Slayers, a man known as Deimos Alark approached Cain and told him that this, at the time, community needed to be split up. That they needed to go separate ways. Cain didn't want a fight, though Deimos hoped he would, and allowed those who wanted to go with Deimos to go."

"What a jerk." I cross my arms. "Deimos, I mean."

She nodded. "There were some who thought this was best, so some followed him. When more people stepped forward he didn't stop them. Over half left with their own groups, now Hovers, and left Cain with his own. This consisted of close friends and his family, and those who respected him."

"To this day," she finishes, "these hovers remain separate. The Alark Hover, the Foreigner Hover, the Klark Hover, and the Yain Hover are the closest ones to us. Their borders are near ares, but we stay out of each others way for the most part."

"I'm guessing you don't get along."

"Not really, no." She smiled. "But when something bad happens that affects all of us, we come together. Every Hover."

"How many Hovers are there?" I asked her.

"No idea." She shrugged as we turned around near the end of one area and started to head back. "I've met thirty of the Hover Leader, both of them-"

"Both?" I looked at her, confused.

"There's two leaders in a Hover," she says. "A leader is the husband and wife. So when your father dies, or retires, I will also retire and Kevin or Jordan will take over. Maybe even you, if they don't want the position. When I said thirty," she added, "I meant thirty Hovers."

"Whoa."

She laughed. "Whoa is a great word for it."
