Shattred Remains
I continue towards the song. The outside is bleak, still, empty. There is no plant life except the occasional tumbleweed flying through the air.
As I continue to walk, the song grows slowly more loud, however, I still can't hear the lyrics.
I hear footsteps. I stop and turn around. I don't see anything, so I face forward again, only to be greeted by a man in a grey cloak.
"You finally broke out?" The man asks.
"Who are you again?" I ask.
"Oh," the man replies, "you must not remember me. Name's Nathan, and I was a freind of yours before... All this. Listen, as you can see, things have really gone south here, but we can fix it."
"How?" I ask.
"There are six beings in this world who must be killed, as you have already killed one. The nearest one is north of here, just keep walking. Should you need me, call my name."
"Sure thing."
"Great. Anyways, I'm out."
I move forward. The song sounds more frantic, afraid. It creates a sense of dread of the singer grows louder and more desperate to tell me something. Do I trust Nathan or the song?
Several things about Nathan don't add up. First of all, he just teleported away. Second, if we are freinds, why didn't he break me out of the prison himself? Finally, why do I have to kill these people?
However, the song seems quite shady as well. I heard it when I woke up, and I have no memory. Maybe the singer took my memories away? I just don't know enough to make a decision.
Then again, Nathan actually has a goal. Also, this song might not even be real. It could be all in my head, maybe a psychological coping mechanism for my lack of memories? I decide to continue towards the next person.
As I walk, I have another vision. The smiling man from the photo is dead on the ground. I'm in some sort of castle. I see Nathan. Nathan closes the man's eyes.
"So," he looks at me, "what's next?"
I speak, but not of my own free will. I am forced to speak, "I'm done with this world. I'm going to end it."
"He died to save it!" Nathan yells, "I won't let you!"
I hear the song within the vision.
"Who's singing?" I ask.
"Sounds like one of them," Nathan replies, "which means, oh, oh by the gods no! We're all doomed!"
"Good riddance," I reply, "just makes my life easier. So, if you will excuse me..." I leave.
My vision ends. I continue forward. Forward into the unknown, ignoring the song.
"He isn't listening," my sibling tells me.
"I know," I growl, "but I can't give up."
"Have we even asked why this happened? Why this break in the space-time continuum appeared?"
"I have a theory, it's the energy created by that being, must've been so strong it tore the multiverse a new one. This is a blessing, we can save this timeline."
"Do you think, maybe, I.T. might plan to use this being to destroy everything?"
"That's a risk I'm willing to take."
"Dude, we're talking about, like, seven people. Just let them go."
"I won't sit by as a world dies. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to keep singing."
"Fine whatever. Good luck."
Damn it! I can't let this world die! I have to keep singing, I can guide him towards salvation, if he only listens. Anyways, back to what he's up to...
I reach a cave. I go inside. I hear laughter. "So," a voice chuckles, "the one who took my sister has come."
Took her sister, like, killed her? Is that why I was imprisoned?
"Don't think I'll go easy on you," the voice continues, "even if you are our best shot at surviving. After all," a women holding two swords is vaguely visible in darkness, "at this point vengence is all I care about." She lunges at me...
