Chapter 4: the heart is reborn

Elsa's POV:

After what happened last week, I decided that if Odonis wants to stay at the castle, we all need to make some changes. Now that everyone knows that Arren is Odonis(Kristoff needed a bit more convincing, though I didn't know why since we've only known him for about half a week, and Olaf already knew, so that checks out.) we could get our plan in action.

Julia used her cloaking spell on us, with the help of Shadow cause she didn't really have the help of both hands to do it, though the hand spell wore off the next day, and we got to action.

At first, it was some obvious bad play on my part, but after a few days, I finally had got the gist of it. Since Julie knew all of his spells from then on, she knew how to act, and we just had to follow her, whether it was put on her or us, she would tell us which spell it was. And with Shadow's help, we knew how to stop him from doing them again.

After a week or so he caught onto us and confronted us about it.

"What are you doing?" he asked us.

We weren't under any spell that day, so we could move regularly.

"What are you talking about? We're just being our regular selves," Julie said.

Odonis groaned under his breath.

"I know what you're doing and it has to stop!" he yelled. "What spell are you using to hold off my magic?"

His magic? The audacity.

"First of all," Anna said. "It's Julie's magic. Not yours. Second, we know what you did two weeks ago so we're just protecting ourselves from you."

Odonis gave us all angry looks but we all just laughed.

"Just cut the act, Odonis," Kristoff said. "They're smarter than you think, we're smarter than you think."

Odonis scoffed at him. "Whatever stupid reindeer boy. Like you're smart enough to speak to anyone the way you speak to that stupid reindeer."

Oh heck no.

Kristoff was about to go at him, but Julie got to him first. She used her magic again to pick him up and throw him across the room.

"Don't ever talk about my brother like that!" she said as she got closer to him. "For a prince, you sure have a lot of disrespect."

Odonis smiled. "And for a Princess, you sure have a huge temper there, Grapecake."

He then winked at her, which was kind of concerning and caught us all off guard.

And that only made Julie more mad at him.

"What did you call me?" she said.

Odonis chuckled. "Well, Grapecake of course. Your eyes are purple and you look like a little cake."

Julie looked back at us while we all looked at each other. I then caught sight of Kristoff, trying hard to laugh.

"Did you teach him this?" Julie said.

Kristoff then burst out laughing.

"Kind of," he said in between chuckles. "I taught him how to flirt, but it was while we were on a walk together."

"Julie looked at him with an annoyed face while Odonis and Kristoff kept on laughing.

Anna looked at him with an amused face and smiled. "You think my sister's cute?"

Odonis' eyes widened at the question and he turned red. "W-what, no!"

Julie looked at him before stepping away from him and closer to me.

"What?" she asked.

Anna's smile got brighter. "If you tried to flirt with her, then you must like her, right?"

Julie looked at Anna in disgust.

"Anna, we've only known each other for three weeks, plus we hate each other!" She told her.

"I would never fall in love with someone like her!" Odonis chimed in.

Julie turned to him and scoffed. "At least I don't look like a Grass Lemon," she said, then gasped. "That's your new name now, Grass Lemon."

Odonis scoffed. "Grass Lemon?"

Julie smiled. "You look like a cow, and cows eat grass, and you're sour like a lemon."

Odonis looked at her shocked. Kristoff and Olaf were now laughing as hard as ever and Anna was just squealing.

I sighed as I grabbed Julie's hand.

"We obviously can't put you two in the same room together, since you'll fight like children," I said. "So I have an Idea."

Everyone was silent, waiting for me to say my idea.

"Let's split the girls in one room and the guys in another room,' I said. "We all share a few things about ourselves to the people in our group and after an hour we come back and share what we've told our group."

Everybody looked at me like I was crazy.

"Like things our group doesn't already know?" Julie asked.

We heard Odonis scoff, he was released from his trap. "Well, obviously, Grapecake."

Julie turned to face him. "Shut up, Grass Lemon."

Julie and Odonis started arguing with each other again and I had to separate them again.

"Yes, Julie, things we don't already know. Things we haven't known about before." I explained.

Julie nodded.

After that, I explained that we only had to explain one or two things max and that everyone had to be truthful.

"Excuse me," Odonis asked. "Where are we going with this?"

Julie, surprisingly, didn't say anything back.

"By doing this, it'll release all the anger we have with each other."

Odonis got quiet after that.

Afterward, we separated into our respective groups and the boys headed to the library and the girls headed to my room. I know it was a stupid idea at the time, but I thought it was a good idea we all needed to calm our nerves.

We went inside my room and closed the door. We then sat down and Anna started laughing.

"You do know we're sisters, Elsa," she mentioned. "We know everything about each other, and so do the guys."

I nodded. "I know that we know a lot about each other, but not everything."

Julie and Anna looked at each other confused.

"What do you mean?" Julie asked.

I sighed. "Like," I started. "Like how I used to have small snowball challenges with myself to spend my spare time when I was alone in my room. The only time I was actually happy in my room."

Anna and Julie smiled.

"Now that you've never told us about," Anna said.

I smiled, but the smile faded after a minute.

"But then I would get traumatized by those memories that I would even freeze up the snowball," I whispered sadly.

Anna looked at me sadly, but Julie looked at me confused.

"How do you freeze a snowball?" she asked. "Isn't it just made of little bits of ice? How can you freeze it?"

I smiled. I then made a snowball appear in my hands and then froze it by making ice form around it.

"Like this," I smiled.

Julie looked at it in awe. "That's cool!" she then held out her hands. "Can I keep it?"

I nodded and handed the ice ball to her. Anna and I giggled as she eyed the ball in such awe.

Anna then gasped and started jumping frantically.

"Can I go next?" Anna asked. I nodded and motioned her to go. "So..um...when I was little I saw one of the maids making cookies for Mother for her birthday and I wanted one, so I kind of grabbed the whole bowl of cookies and ran to my room and ate them and when I got confronted for it I lied and said that Julie took them."

Julie gasped dramatically. "You maniac!" she said. "You did it cause I wouldn't remember it! I am so going to get you for this one day!"

Anna laughed sheepishly. "Sorry, Julie," she said.

Julie huffed and turned away from her. "I'm next," she said as she collected herself. "Two years ago, when we were searching for you, Elsa, as you know, Anna and I got separated. Shadow showed up when I was fully alone and took me to see my past, more specifically, the past of my former Kingdom and my parents."

Anna and I were dead silent.

"And?" I asked. "Did you see anything?"

Julie nodded. "I saw my parents. They were surrounded by this huge mob of angry people and they were inside of this shop-like house...and my mother was holding me and my father was writing something down on a piece of paper and after a moment, he just ran out of the shop, but no people followed him."

"That's strange," Anna muttered.

"Did you read the paper?" I asked.

Julie nodded again.

"Do you remember what it said?" Anna asked.

Julie nodded once again. "It said:

"Dear King Agnarr, our home has been taken over and my family and I have no other way to get to shelter. We would be forever grateful if you agree to let my wife and daughter stay in Arendelle until my daughter has come of age for her to come back home. I will not be able to come with her, for I have already accepted my fate. I have done my kingdom wrong within the years and I'm ready to accept that.

With great regards,

Your friend and trusted trading mate,  Josephe."

Julie ended the note and sighed. "I tried to go after my father, but Shadow didn't let me, and since then I kept having these vivid dreams about that day and I just can't get them out no matter how much magic I use."

"Well," Anna muttered, "I think your dreams are trying to tell you something. Like they're trying to tell you to just go back home."

Julie looked at Anna in disbelief. "Go back home? I don't even know where 'home' is. And go back to a place where my parents are probably dead and then I have to go back and be a Queen when I haven't even turned 17?"

Anna was silent, not wanting to answer.

Julie sighed. "I'm sorry, Anna," she said. "I was just angry."

Anna nodded. "It's okay, Julie."

We all just stayed silent for a quiet moment before we heard someone burp.

Julie and I turned to see Anna covering her mouth.

"Excuse me," she whispered.

Julie turned her head in disgust while I just started giggling.

After that, we just talked for the rest of the hour until the boys called and told us that they were ready.

We all made our way downstairs to see the guys on the couch waiting for us.

Anna, Julie, and I just sat down in a few chairs as we came in. We didn't think to tell them to get up, cause I'm pretty sure none of us were thinking about that.

Kristoff and Odonis noticed us and got up to let us sit on the couch.

We knew that Kristoff was working on being a perfect gentleman for Anna, but Odonis was another problem.

We sat in the chairs and the boys sat in the chairs.

We were all silent for a second before I started to clear my throat.

"So...who wants to start?" I asked.

—-----------------------------------------------

Odonis' POV:

I took a deep breath. Typically I wasn't the one to actually start a family conversation but I guess I had to start somewhere. But that didn't mean I had a change of heart or anything, I just had to at the moment.

"There's this tradition in my family that we had to do and it was that we all had to go around and say nice things about each other. My mother used to make us do this when she was with us, and when we were kids, we used to have all kinds of nice things to say to each other, some less than others, but to me, it was still nice that we could do something like that, even though we all went back to hating each other the next day." I explained.

Elsa looked at me sympathetically while Anna and Julie weren't even paying attention to me. Honestly I expected nothing less.

Then after me was Kristoff. His was like you'd expect, it was most of the things we didn't know about his time with the rock trolls that was either disgusting or boring. Then it was Olaf. Everyone knew everything about Olaf so his thing wasn't really that special, though it was pretty funny to listen to.

Then came the girls. Elsa's was really sad until Julie showed us the Ice ball Elsa gave her, all of us were laughing because of it. Then there was Anna's. When Anna told her story, Julie moved away from her, which made us confused until Anna revealed the end. Honestly, I was on Julie's side in this argument, which was funny to me. Finally, Julie was last. She told us what happened two years ago during the Eternal Winter incident. Everyone was quiet, including me. Though I hate her, she felt so scared and genuine during her talk, and it made me feel really bad for her.

After Julie was finished, Elsa stood up.

"So," she said. "Now that we know a few important things about each other, does anyone have any questions about the things we've said?"

I nodded and turned to Julie. "So, Grapecake," I said. Julie turned to me with an annoyed face. "Where do you think the note is right now since you've successfully made it to Arendelle?"

Her face then turned into a shocked and confused look as she thought about my question.

"I actually don't know," she said. "Father said that Kai gave the letter to them when he found me that day, but I guess they must've taken it with them when they left, cause I searched the castle for it and it wasn't there."

"Did you check the library for it? Or your fathers studies?" Kristoff asked.

Julie nodded. "I searched everywhere and nothing."

After that we said nothing else and just kind of talked the whole time until it was time for dinner.

I forgot about the main reason I was here, it was like Elsa put a whole spell on us. We all spent our dinner time just talking about random stuff, and instead of leaving me out, they invited me to join their conversations, one of which was a conversation about which cake flavor was the best, Chocolate or Vanilla. I guess Julie was getting better cause she finished her plate within an hour and was having a conversion with Elsa. she looked less pale than before, which was nice considering her look before. She looked prettier.

I guess I was staring at her for too long cause I felt a sharp pain in my arm after a moment.

"Ow!" I said, holding my arm. I looked at Anna as she was the one who pinched me. "What was that for?"

Anna was silent for a moment, looking from me to Julie, she was looking at us for a soft minute before she gasped happily.

"You like her!" Anna whispered.

I scoffed. "Not in a million years, Anna."

Anna giggled. "Yeah right. First you were 'flirting', which was kind of weird considering that was your first time, now you're staring at her. It's obvious that you like her!"

I sighed. She wouldn't like me even if I was the last guy on earth. And I told Anna just that.

"You wouldn't know until you try, you know. That's how Kristoff and I got together." Anna said, wrapping her arm around Kristoff.

"Kristoff was one of the people who saved you from my brother. My brother. The one who almost led Arendelle to its demise! Never in a million years would she like someone like me, especially after I tried to kill her." I said.

Anna gave me a look, but after that she stopped talking to me about it.

It's not like I wanted her anyway, I hate her with every fiber in my body. I just like the fact that she's healthy and safe.

—---------------------------------------------

Julie's POV:

I went to bed earlier than usual. Why? I just wanted to get a few things out of my head. I tried to use my magic using my now free hand, it wasn't numb completely, but still quite painful to move.

I sighed. "Shadow?" I called.

A moment later. Shadow appeared beside me.

"Yes, Princess?" he asked.

I sighed once again. I guess 'Princess' isn't as bad as 'Grapecake'.

"When is my hand gonna get better?" I asked him.

Shadow examined it for a moment. "I guess in a couple of hours until your hand fully thaws."

I groaned.

"What else do you wanna tell me?" I asked.

Shadow thought for a moment. "Well, you know Odonis?" he asked. Of course I did. He continued. "Well I overheard Anna talking about him having a little thing for you."

I turned red. Mostly guys wouldn't want to date me since they are either years older than me, or they aren't approved by both of my sisters. Odonis liking me is really unexpected, especially since Anna approves of it.

I shook my head. It doesn't matter anyway, I hate him. And no matter how many tries it takes, he will not get to me, and that is a promise.

"He doesn't like me," I said. "And if he does, he needs to earn me before he can actually be with me."

Shadow nodded, disappearing soon after.

I sighed. "Besides," I said to myself. "I am focused on one thing."

Getting a hold of my parents.
