Chapter 3: Charades

Odonis's POV:

After the interaction Julia and I had yesterday, I thought that we would be on good terms.

Oh how wrong I was.

Julia was ignoring me all day like the moment we had yesterday didn't happen at all. I tried to get her attention on more than one occasion.

She ignored me during breakfast.

She ignored me every time I tried to ask her a simple question.

She ignored me everywhere.

I was walking around the kingdom when I spotted Anna talking to what looked like the talking snowman I saw yesterday.

I walked towards them and waved.

"Hi, Princess Anna," I said.

Ann smiled and waved back. "Hey Arren!" she said. "Are you having a good first week here? I hope we're not being too welcoming and making you uncomfortable."

I smiled. "Oh, that's not the case at all, Princess Anna. I was just wondering if I could ask you a question?"

Anna was confused but nodded.

"Of course you can!" she said. "And you can just call me Anna if you want, I don't mind."

I nodded before asking the question.

"Um, Anna?" I asked. "Do you know why your sister is just ignoring me? I thought we were on good terms after what happened yesterday?"

Anna frowned.

"I don't know why Julie's ignoring you," she said. "It must be something that happened 'cause she doesn't just stop talking to people out of nowhere."

I nodded while looking down.

What did I do to make her like this?

"Ha-um...my father who came here a few years ago, told me that Elsa wasn't the only sister with magic?" I said. "Is that true?"

Anna was hesitant for a moment, looking back and forth before whispering in my ear.

"Are you sure I can trust you with this secret?" she asked.

I nodded.

She took a deep breath.

"Julie has dark magic," she stated. "She's actually our adopted sister that one of our servants found in the river one night as a 3-month-old baby. Her powers are pretty powerful, but she doesn't really use them that much cause she doesn't want them going out of control."

I nodded, mentally writing down every word.

"She doesn't tell anyone outside our family this because she doesn't want to endanger anyone else," Anna explained.

I was frowning on the outside, but secretly grinning evilly on the inside. I had all I needed to bring her down first.

"Thanks for the information, Anna," I said. "Do you know where Julia is?"

Anna nodded and pointed towards the horse stables.

"She's with her assistant, Shadow in the stables," she said.

I thanked her and went to look for her, smiling as bright as ever.

When I went to the stables, I saw Julia beside the stables, she was talking to a tall, black man, probably Shadow.

I hid behind the stable house to listen to them.

"How long are you going to ignore him?" Shadow asked.

Julia scoffed. "However long it takes because I know his motive. He isn't getting anything out of me, Shadow,"

Shadow nodded. "I know, but how about this?" He started. "You just try to get close to him, close enough to get him to know get him to know you, but of course not enough, and then just get him when he's down. Perfect right?"

My mouth went agape. She's just gonna pretend to like me?

Julia thought for a moment before smiling and nodding.

"I can do that," she said. "He'll regret ever coming to Arendelle after I'm done with him."

I smiled. I'm not too sure about that.

I got up and started to walk back to the castle, avoiding people as they walked past.

From now on, I'll do just as Hans ordered. No more Mister Nice Guy.

—---------------------------------------------------------------

I hid in my room. I knew I had to take down Arendelle, but I first had to take down Julia. She's my only target right now.

I thought of telling a little white lie to Elsa to get her to be mad at Julia, but that didn't make sense since their sisters and they're tight as a knot.

Then the idea came to mind.

I smiled as I grabbed a scarf from out of my dresser and made my way into the hall.

I made my way to the library and started scanning through the books.

If there was something in here about Elsa's powers, there's gotta be something in here about Julia's

I went through each of the shelves until I saw one book that caught my eye.

Escalivar. The book dark spells.

I grabbed it and started skimming through it. Perfect. It had each and every spell I needed to take down Julia.

I put the book in my satchel and went on my way back up to my room.

After a few minutes of me flipping through the pages, someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!"

I shouted and a few minutes later, I saw Anna come in.

"Hey!" she said as she went to sit down in a nearby chair.

I waved back, closing the book as I looked at her. I knew that she would be angry if she found out what I was trying to do to her sister, and I was trying to at least keep her as one ally on my side.

She saw the book but didn't think much of it and looked back at me.

"So, Arren," she started. "We're playing a game of Charades tonight. If you want, you can come and join us."

Charades? That might be the perfect opportunity to show them what I can do.

I nodded, smiling.

"I'd like to join you guys," I said.

Anna smiled and hugged me.

"Yay! You are going to love this!" she said as she got up and ran down the stairs to go inform the others.

I chuckled. My plan was going perfectly.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After a few minutes, I finally came down and sat beside Elsa as Kristoff came in and sat down beside me.

"Okay, everyone!!" Olaf said as everyone got settled. "You all know the rules, but for anyone who needs any mention of them I will tell you."

He then looked at all of us as he started listening out the rules.

"One, no magic! Two, no speaking. Three, you have to make movement and only movement. Any form of talking will count as cheating and you will be out. For the first round, we will all do it together as a team, but for the second round, it will be boys against girls, so one of you girls will be out." he moved his hands towards the girls while saying the last part. They all nodded, smiling.

Sven then brought out a bowl of bits of paper for Olaf to pull out of. He scrambled the bits around until he dug to the bottom of the bowl and fished out a name and read it.

Olaf smiled as he read the name. "Julie!" he said in pure delight. "You're first!"

We all looked over at Julia as she got up to the front, smiling. I smiled as well. This is gonna be the perfect opportunity to show what I have in store for her.

I watched as she grabbed a paper from another bowl and read it.

"Ooh! This is easy," she said as she bent down to drop the paper.

We all got ready to guess as she took a few small breaths to get herself ready.

Then she started. At first, she did her hands in a throwing motion, like he was throwing something up.

"Ball?" Anna guesses.

Julie moves her hand, telling her that she is on the right track.

"Oh! It's some kind of ball?" Elsa asks. Julia nods, then makes a smushing motion, like she's making something. "Um...a squishy ball?"

Julia groaned quietly, and then she looked at Olaf and pointed at him.

"Snowman ball?" Anna questions. Julia gets angry and points at Olaf again.

"Oh! It's a snowball!" Kristoff finally shouts, laughing.

Right then, the bell rings.

Julia groans. "Finally! Thank you, Kristoff!"

A lot of ohs came from all of them as I stayed silent.

Before she was about to pick a name, I used one of the spells on her.

I looked as her hand turned a purplish black and her arm literally stopped mid-grab.

"What the-" she muttered as she tried to pull her hand away from the bowl.

Anna and Elsa saw what was going on and rushed towards their sister.

The girls almost had it when Julia's hand started forming a ball. The ball blasted around, hitting every other wall it could find.

We all ducked, trying to avoid it. After it hit the last wall, it came towards Elsa and struck her in the head.

"Elsa!" Julia shouted, quickly going to Elsa's side. "No no no no no!"

Anna also got down to check on Elsa. "what happened, Julie?" she asked.

Julia looked at Anna, tears forming in her eyes. "I don't know, Anna," she said. "It was all so sudden. My hand just stopped and my magic just got out of control."

Julia looked at me and her expression changed when she saw my face. I was smiling at her.

She then got up and ran to the library.

"Where are you going?" Anna called out.

"The library, Anna," she replied as she ran off.

I got up, trying to follow her. "I'll go check on her," I said. "Just stay with the Queen, alright?"

Anna nodded as I ran off after Julia.

—--------------------------------------------------------------

Julie's POV:

I ran to the library and promised myself that he didn't take it.

When I got to the library, I quickly started going through the books.

Shadow was behind me, concerned.

"What are you looking for?" he asked.

I ignored him and continued searching for the book.

Shadow sighed as he used his magic and wrapped a rope-like shadow around my waist and turned me around.

"Like I said," He repeated. "What are you looking for."

I groaned, "I can't tell you unless you put me down."

Shadow finally put me down after a few seconds.

"Now," I said. "I was looking for Escalivar. The book on dark magic."

Shadow's eyes widened. "It's gone?" I nodded. "But who would take it? Better yet, why would they take it?"

I sighed. "I think Odonis was the one who took it," I replied. "As for why, that is my question."

We were silent until we heard someone open the door. We both turned to see Odonis at the door. I marched towards him.

"Where is Escalivar, Odonis?" I asked angrily.

Odonis shrugged. "What's Escalivar?" he asked.

Alright, I had enough with him.

I used my unfrozen hand to pick him up and throw him across the room.

"What the?" he yelled. "What was that for?"

"Stop acting all innocent, Odonis! I know that you have my book and I know you used its magic on me! Neither Anna nor Elsa would do that to me, Kristoff is like my brother, and he wouldn't try to hurt me no matter how annoying he is, and Olaf's just now knowing how to read, so it's you!" I shouted.

"What about Sven?" Shadow asked, then stopped himself. "Nevermind he's a reindeer."

Odonis smiled. "So what? I used its magic but you're the one who hurt your sister," he counteracted. "So who's really in the wrong?"

I wanted to yell at him but Shadow stopped me.

That's when Anna walked into the room and saw all the commotion.

She gasped when she saw Odonis on the ground.

"Oh my goodness, Arren, what happened?" she asked.

Odonis gave me a look and put on his best pity face.

"Oh Anna," he started. "I was just trying to check in Julia, when all of a sudden, she just threw me against the wall and started accusing me of tampering with her magic when I'm fully innocent!"

Shadow and I looked at each other in shock. "What?"

"No, Anna, I threw him because he took Escalibar and used it on me! That's what happened during our charades game!" I explained.

I thought Anna would believe me, but she looked at me with disappointment.

"And I thought you wouldn't do something like this," she said.

I looked at her in shock as she helped Odonis on his feet.

"Thank you, Anna," he said. I rolled my eyes in disgust.

Anna looked back at me. "Juli, can we talk outside?" she asked.

I nodded as we both went outside the room. We walked far enough to where the guys couldn't hear us.

"So what do you-!" I started but stopped abruptly when Anna hugged me.

"I don't believe him," she said.

"What?" I asked.

Anna smiled. "I know that you wouldn't hurt people on purpose, just like Elsa. it's not in your nature. He must've pissed you off really bad?"

I smiled. I knew that she would believe me.

But then that smile faded. "Anna, his real name isn't Arren."

Anna nodded slightly. "I know. I heard you when you were yelling at him."

I chuckled.

After a silent moment, I then asked her. "Then what are we gonna do with him? We can't just let him torment us like this- torment me like this!"

"I guess we just have to make him believe we're under his spell," a voice said.

I turned around to see Elsa walking towards us. I smiled brightly as I ran to hug her.

"You're okay!" I said. "Oh, thank goodness!"

She hugged me back and we stayed like that for a moment.

"Wait," I said as we separated. "What do you mean 'make him believe'?"

Elsa smiled. "You have protection magic right?" she said, I nodded. "So just use that on all of us and he wouldn't know."

"Like a cloaking spell!" Anna said happily.

"And when he tries to cast his spell..." I started.

"Then we just pretend like we're under it," Elsa finished.

I gasped. "This is brilliant! Masterful!"

Elsa and Anna laughed at me.

"So you're in?" Anna asked.

I smiled. He is going to pay for what he did to me.

"I'm in,"
