Chapter 1: the brother's revenge
"Make sure you get every last crumb, boy!" Adgarr, the oldest said.
Hans sighed as he continued to pick up after his brothers.
It was his punishment after what happened to the Queen of Arendelle and her sisters.
Hans knew that his twelve older brothers were ruthless, so he knew that when he came back to the Southern Isles, he would face the hardest punishment that his brothers had to throw at him.
Although Hans was happy that he wasn't picking up horse manure in the stable, he wasn't exactly free from his brother's torment just yet.
"Don't be so hard on him, Adgarr." Lars, his third oldest brother said.
Adgarr scoffed.
"Don't be so hard on him? Lars, please!" he yelled. "If it wasn't for his little stunt, we would've had good ties with Arendelle. But nooo! He just had to make a fool of himself!"
Lars rolled his eyes.
"That was two years ago, and he's thirteenth in line, what did you expect?"
Adgarr just ignored him and continued throwing crumbs at Hans with the other brothers just laughing their butts off.
It was only when their father came into the room that the laughter finally died down.
Hans smiled. It was nice for him to see his brothers go coward mode when their father appears.
Their father stood in front of his sons. He had a giant stature, standing at about 12'2. He had the kind of face that would make any person respect him.
"What is all of this commotion about, Adgarr?" he asked.
Adgarr stood up and walked towards his father.
"Father," Adgarr said. "Lars and I were just having a sort of disagreement."
Lars scoffed.
Their father heard and looked at Lars.
"Is there something you want to say, Lars?" he asked.
Lars stood up.
"Yes, in fact I do, Father," he started. "Adgarr was still meddling with Hans after you told him to let it go!"
Adgarr groaned.
"Why does it matter, Lars?" he said. "He did the crime, now it's up to us to think of a way to punish him."
"After two years?" Lars asked his brother. "One is explainable, but two is crossing the line."
Then, their brother, Andir, joined in.
"Crossing the line?" he asked. "Hans crossed the line when he almost killed the rulers of Arendelle. If I'm being honest. I say he deserves what he's getting."
The others nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, Andir!" Adgarr said.
"Enough!" their father shouted. "Adgarr and Andir are right, Lars. Hans deserves his punishment, but not at this moment."
Andir groaned.
"Do we have to go to another meeting with them, Father?" he asked.
Their father nodded.
"The Queen wanted to meet with us to discuss a few matters. And after the stunt that Hans had pulled, they thought it would be best if they came to us instead." he explained.
"They?" Lars questioned.
"The Queen and her youngest sister, Julia." their father answered.
A lot of 'oh's' came from all the brothers.
Hans silently groaned. After what happened two years ago, he dreaded the day he ever saw any of those three sisters again.
Especially Julia. He hated her the most.
Their conversation ended when they all heard someone drop something. They all turned around to see their youngest brother, Odonis holding a box.
After a few moments, all the brothers, including Hans, excluding Lars, start laughing.
Odonis is the youngest son and the very last one to inherit the throne.
At only 17, to the brothers, he was the most useless one in the bunch.
He kept to himself so much that people forgot that he existed.
Even Hans picks on him from time to time, which is saying a lot.
Odonis straightened out his vest before speaking.
"May I accompany you in this meeting?" he asked.
Their father just looked at him.
"Why?" is all he asked.
Odonis cleared his throat.
"Just in case if they ask for Hans," he answered. "Or if you need extra assistance."
Their father just looked at him before nodding.
"You think you're smart enough to be in a meeting, huh?" he said while walking closer to him.
"Fine," he said, then he grabbed the collar of his vest. "But if you embarrass me in there I will not hesitate to throw you in the dungeon with the rats!"
After that, he let go of Odonis's collar, walking out of the door.
That was when the brothers started laughing again.
"You are toast!" one of the other brothers said.
"Oh, I bet even worse than that!" another said.
Adgarr walked towards him and punched him in the stomach.
"Weak," he said as he walked out the room.
His brothers got up and followed him out.
After they all left, Hans had a brilliant idea.
He walked towards Odonis and whispered into his ear.
"I want you to do something for me, brother." he said.
Odonis scoffed.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"I want to sneak on Arendelle's ship when it leaves after the meeting. And when you do, get as much information on each of the princesses and the Queen as possible and report back to me as soon as you can." Hans explained.
Odonis pushed Hans off of him.
"And why should I do that?" he asked.
"Cause," Hans answered. "When you succeed, I will give you everything you desire and more."
Odonis thought for a moment.
"What's in it for you?" he finally asked.
Hans smiled evilly.
"Power," he said.
Odonis was silent for a second before smiling.
"When do I start?"
—---------------------------------------------
Julie's POV:
"Are you sure you two are gonna be safe?" Anna asked Elsa and I for the billionth time.
Elsa sighed.
"Of course we are, Anna." she said. "And it's not like we're gonna be there forever! You got this!"
We have to take a trip to the Southern Isles to talk about some familial matters involving Hans. Well, Elsa is gonna talk about some Familial matters, I am going because Anna kept talking about Elsa needing someone there just in case things go wrong and her powers get out of hand. And since Anna knows that Elsa and I are close, she knew that the only person who was more qualified to go was me.
Anna groaned.
"Well, it sure seems like it!" she complained.
Elsa and I chuckled as we hugged our sister.
"Well, we're not," I say. "We're only staying there for a day."
"Yeah," Anna said. "A day is more than enough time for one of you to get kidnapped or worse!!"
I sighed.
"Shadow!" I called.
Then, after a moment, Shadow appeared before us.
Two years ago, after the great thaw, Shadow promised that he would always be with me whenever I called on him, and he's done a great job these past two years.
He bowed, something he has done for the past two years, even though I've told him that he doesn't have to do that.
"Yes, Princess?" he said.
I took a deep breath before speaking.
"Can you please take care of Arendelle with Anna while Elsa and I are gone?" I ask.
Shadow was silent for a second.
"That's not in my schedule for today," he said.
I scoffed.
"Do you even have a schedule?" I asked. "You're a ghost!"
"Uhp!" he corrected. "Entity. I am an entity. Not a ghost ... .and...touche."
I smiled, knowing that I won.
"So you'll help her?" I ask.
Shadow sighed, but nodded.
"Yes, I'll help her," he finally said.
I smiled, then turned towards Anna.
"Are you okay with this?" I ask her.
Anna nodded. "I'll make it work." she said. "Are you sure you're gonna be okay?"
Elsa stepped forward and hugged Anna. I joined soon after.
"Of course we will." she answered.
We then separated from the hug and met with Kai.
"Your majesties," he said, bowing. "The ship is ready for you."
We nodded as we hugged our sister one last time before getting on the ship.
"Be careful!" Anna shouted as the ship started to slowly sail away.
"We will!" Elsa shouted back.
"I love you!!" Anna shouted.
We both laughed.
"We love you too!" I shouted.
After that, we were just waving to each other until we were out of sight from each other.
—---------------------------------------
Never once have I wanted to take a journey to another kingdom, but now that we were here, there was no turning back.
Elsa and I stepped off the ship onto the Southern Isles, and honestly, this place wasn't half bad.
The Castle was very silvery on the outside, but the inside was very different. The chandeliers were very fancy and delicate, and perfectly intact considering this place has more than 20 people living in it.
Elsa and I made our way to the meeting room, which was basically a second dining room but extra fancier. It was honestly way different than our meeting room in Arendelle.
In the room, we were greeted by two men and a couple of other servants.
The older man stood up and walked towards us.
"Alistir Westerguard," said the man, bowing. "You must be the Queen?"
Elsa nodded, bowing as well. "Yes, sir I am. Queen Elsa of Arendelle."
Elsa then gestured towards me.
"This is my sister, Julia." she said.
I bowed and he did the same.
When I got up, I spotted the other man.
He had fair skin, green eyes and black hair. He looked young. Younger than Hans.
Alistir noticed my gaze and quickly introduced us to him.
"Oh, that is my youngest son, Odonis," he said.
Elsa and I looked at each other. We both knew from Anna that Hans had 12 brothers, not 13. Another thing he's lied about.
Odonis walked toward us and bowed. We both bowed back.
"Since we'll only be having a few discussions, Odonis, do you mind if you showed Princess Julia around?" Alistir asked.
Elsa looked at me before nodding.
"Is it okay if another person goes with them?" Elsa asked.
Alistir frowned but nodded. "Of course. I'll send a Guard to accompany them."
Elsa nodded again as Odonis and I left the room.
"Be careful," she told me.
I nodded as we left.
—-------------------------------------------------
After the hour-long tour, we finally got to the dungeon, which honestly, smelled worse than a horse's manure.
We were walking further into the dungeon when we heard a voice coming from one of the cells.
I looked closer and saw that it was Hans.
When he got up, he spotted me and smiled.
"Long time, no see, Julia," he said.
I scoffed.
"That's Princess Julia to you, jerk!" I said.
Hans rolled his eyes and turned back around.
"I guess you met my younger brother," He commented.
I looked at Odonis.
"For now, he's more tolerable than you," I said. "And that's saying something considering he's your younger brother."
Hans didn't say anything else after that.
Odonis and I went back up to the living room.
"What's your problem with him?" he asked.
I sighed. "He tried to kill me and my older sisters as an elaborate plan to take over Arendelle for himself."
Odonis stayed silent after that.
We were in the living room for about a few minutes just talking.
"What is your relationship with your sisters?" he asked.
I shrugged.
"Perfect," was all I could say, because it was perfect. My sisters and I were all together again, and it was more than I could ever ask for.
Odonis just nodded.
"I can't say the same for me and my brothers," he said. "It's like they make it their life mission to beat me up just because I'm the youngest."
I just looked at him.
He noticed my look and looked back at me confused.
"What?" he said.
I just shrugged. "I just thought that you and hans would be the closest since you two were both picked on by your older brothers,"
For the first time since I arrived. Odonis laughed.
"Hans is the main person who picks on me when our other brothers don't want to." he said. "The only person who would stand up for me is Lars, poor him."
I looked away from him. I don't wanna pity him and then have another Anna-Hans situation.. The Westerguards were the last people I would spill my feelings out to.
But he wasn't doing anything to me, yet. So I guess that is something.
After a couple of hours, it was finally time for dinner. Alistir and Elsa sat beside each other at the front, the brothers, minus Hans, sat on either side of the table, and I sat beside Elsa at a corner.
Odonis came in a little later and sat beside me.
His brothers groaned in annoyance at him. There were other seats around the table near his brothers, but he sat near me.
I didn't think about it too much since he was also sitting beside his brother Lars.
After a few minutes, the food was brought in and the entire table stated a conversation with one another.
I had a large steak made medium well, with a potato salad and shrimp cocktail. And a lemonade to wash it all down.
I have never eaten steak before. Potato salad and shrimp cocktail, yes, but never a steak. So I don't even know what kind of fork to even use.
Odonis noticed my confusion and whispered to me.
"What's the matter?" he asked. "Never ate a steak before?"
I shook my head no.
"Never in my life," I told him.
He then pointed to the dinner fork.
"Use one of the sharp knives to cut into it and use the dinner fork to eat it." he told me.
I nodded as I picked up my fork.
"Thanks," I said.
Odonis nodded. "anytime,"
After a few hours, it was finally time for bed. Elsa and I slept together in the guest bedroom.
I couldn't sleep. For some reason, sleeping in another room felt so unnatural to what I was used to.
After a few hours, I finally fell asleep. It was uncomfortable, but I dealt with it.
—------------------------------------------------------
Odonis's POV:
The next morning was just a regular day, but more was happening since the Queen of Arendelle and her sister would be leaving in a few hours.
After the talk the princess and I had yesterday, I felt something that I didn't feel with any of my brothers. Was it because she was a stranger to me or because she didn't make fun of me? During the dinner, she didn't berate me for helping her. She thanked me.
It felt...different. I felt different when I was with her.
Before they were supposed to leave, we had Breakfast. I usually didn't have breakfast or any food related things with my family, but we all had to be here to be polite.
I didn't have anything special. Just the regular pancakes, eggs, and bacon that a regular person would have.
They were all talking, just like yesterday.
I looked at the Princess's plate and she didn't have anything special either. Just a couple of pancakes and an orange juice.
"Not hungry?" I asked her.
She looked at me and shook her head.
"I don't really have an appetite for pancakes," she replied. "Which is weird cause I love pancakes. Especially blueberry and chocolate."
She looked at her plate and her smile faded.
"But I don't wanna be wasteful, of course. And I know that I'm gonna be hungry by the end of the trip." she rambled.
I looked at my brother before looking back at her.
I then reached out of my pocket and grabbed my tiny bag of chocolate chips.
I handed the chocolate to her.
"If you want some extra toppings to help." I said. She looked at me, suspiciously. "Don't worry, it's not poisonous or anything."
She looked at the bag for a moment before putting some chocolate chips on her pancakes and eating a few of them.
After that, she stopped.
I frowned at that.
"Still no appetite?" I ask her.
"The chocolate was good," she said. "The pancakes just isn't doing it for me."
I nodded as she just ate the chocolate individually.
"Thanks for the chocolate though," she said. "It kind of helps."
I nod at her as I stare at my plate.
Unfortunately, chocolate isn't gonna help me finish this.
—---------------------------------------
My father and my brothers were outside together when they started to leave.
Little did all of them know that I would leave with them.
The Southern Isles had a little entryway that would allow me to get on any ship that enters and exits, and I was gonna use that entryway.
It was a tunnel that anyone could find and go through with permission, lucky for me I didn't need permission.
Just as the Queen and Princess had boarded the ship, I hopped in through a compartment and stayed there for the whole trip to Arendelle.
The Princess was right. I would get hungry on this trip.
But then, after an hour, they finally made it to Arendelle.
I knew that the compartment was in front of a lot of water, and lucky for me, I knew how to swim. So I hopped out of the compartment and swam away from the dock just in case someone saw me.
I got out just in time to see everyone else getting off as well.
I knew that I wouldn't just walk my way in, so I had to get someone's attention.
But first I had to make a couple of allies.
