Chapter 17: Games Of Fate
Will: Who is that?
Bill: His name....is Adonis, he's been here for a while now.
Adonis: William Turner.....I have questions for you
Will: And what if I refuse to answer?
Adonis: Do you want to see what might happen?
Adonis gestures to his left hand, with a strange contraption with claw blades visible on it. Will decides that it was best to talk.
Will: You don't look like the rest of the crew
Bill: That's because he wears a mask to hide his face, the damage is.....
Adonis: Bad....and I'll be doing bad damage to you if you challenge me
Will: Fine...what do you want?
Adonis: You are have ties with Sparrow, don't you?
Will: Yes I do
Adonis: Why set sail with him?
Will: I didn't have much choice, every time I had to, was because of my own goals
Adonis' gaze, despite being covered behind a mask, was locked onto Will, and he could feel it. It was as if Adonis was measuring Will's answers whenever he gave them.
Adonis: Your own goals? Then why are you here on the Dutchman?
Will: It was against my own will
Bill: He wasn't meant to be here, Adonis. I'm happy to see him, but not in these circumstances
Adonis: Be grateful that you have this bond....now, what are you planning?
Will: Planning?
Adonis: Against Davy Jones of course
Will and Bill tense, it would be bad if Adonis tells the Captain. Davy Jones would have many ideas to deal with Will, whether it would be now or later.
Will: What are you talking about?
Adonis: Don't worry, I know you and Sparrow have a plan. But you don't have to think that I'll snake you out
Will: You....won't?
Adonis: I'm not as loyal to Jones as you think, I have trust issues. So tell me...what are you planning?
Will:....I don't know, I'm mainly relying on Jack and his Son
Adonis: Jack Sparrow has a Son? Interesting....what is his name?
Will: Blue, Blue Sparrow
Adonis:.....That is all from me
Adonis walks away, and Will exchanged a concerned look with Bootstrap. His Father's look tells him to not worry, and just to relax.

Back on the Black Pearl, Norrington works on his hands and knees, head bare, scrubbing the deck with his wig. Jack's boots appear before him, he taps and then uses his toe to indicate a spot.
Jack: A bit of manual labor is good for you, James. [Leans Down] It builds character.
Jack grins, and Norrington suppresses the urge to strangle him. Elizabeth furtively crouches under the stairs. She sets down a stolen bottle of ink and a quill pen before unfolding the Letters of Marque, smoothing them out.
She glances around before dipping the pen into the ink, ready to fill in a name when suddenly the Letters are snatched away. Elizabeth goes after Jack, who idly examines the letters.
Elizabeth: How dare you!
Jack: These Letters of Marque are supposed to go to me, are they not?
Jack glances at the bottom and pauses, he was stunned.
Jack: There's a signature.
Elizabeth: Yes, they are signed. Sir Cutler Beckett, of the East India Trading Company
This catches Blue and Gibbs' attention, with the latter looking at Jack, fearful.
Jack: Beckett.
Gibbs: Will was working for Beckett?
Jack: And never said a word of it.
Blue: Is this a bad person?
Jack: Absolutely
Gibbs: Beckett wants the Compass. Only one reason he would want the Compass
Jack/Gibbs: He's after the chest.
Jack looks to Elizabeth for confirmation. She is aware of having left that point out.
Elizabeth: Beckett....may have said something about a chest.
Blue: Oh Noes
Not what either man (and Boy) wanted to hear.
Gibbs: If the Company controls the chest, they'll control the sea!
Blue: Oh Noes!
Jack: A discomfiting notion.
Gibbs: And bad! Bad for every Mother's son what calls himself "pirate!" I think there's a bit more speed to be coaxed out of these sails.
Jack: May I inquire as to how you came by these?
Elizabeth: Persuasion
Jack: Friendly?
Elizabeth: Decidedly not.
Blue: I feel proud all of a sudden
Elizabeth smiles to herself after hearing that for some reason. Something about being complimented by Blue made her feel warm and nice inside.
Jack: Funny thing. Will strikes a deal for these and upholds it with honor. But you're the one standing here with the prize.
Elizabeth is a bit taken aback by that.
Jack: Full pardon....commission as a
privateer on behalf of England and the East India Trading Company.
Norrington looks up at that, and continues scrubbing. Jack stuffs the letters into his jacket.
Jack: As if I could be bought, not for this low of a price. Fate worse than death, living a life like that
Elizabeth: Jack. The letters? Give them back.
Jack: Persuade me, and you can't ask Little Sparrow. He knows how to use his words against me
Blue: I truly am, the persuasive one
Elizabeth: You do know Will taught me how to handle a sword.
Jack: As I said, persuade me
Jack grins and Elizabeth stares, considering for a moment about slapping him or something. But finally, she turns and walks away, flushed, then a slight smile comes crosses her face.
Blue caught that smile, and wondered what she had planned.
Norrington: It's curious thing. There was a time when I'd have given anything for you to look like that while thinking of me; just once.
Elizabeth is shocked out of her reverie.
Elizabeth: I don't know what you mean
Blue: Objection: I don't know as well
Norrington: I think you do, Elizabeth
Elizabeth does know, under his gaze, and gives up pretending.
Elizabeth: Don't be absurd. I trust him, that's all.
Blue: My Father?
Elizabeth: Yes, and you too
Norrington: Ah.
Norrington stands up and turns away, but then turns back.
Norrington: Did you never wonder how your latest fiancee ended up on the Flying Dutchman in the first place?
He leaves her with that. Elizabeth moves to the railing while Blue whistles.
Blue: Bit of a rude tone from him, don't you think?
Elizabeth doesn't say anything and opens the Compass, both her and Blue see it is locked in stead in the direction they are headed. Elizabeth glances at Jack, then down to see that the Compass needle starts to quiver and move...towards Jack.
But it didn't stop there, it begins to flicker between Jack.....and Blue.
Elizabeth snaps closed the Compass quickly, her face flushed red while Blue looked confused.
Blue: It's pointing in that direction? Wonder what's there for you....Will maybe?
Elizabeth: Y-Yes....Will might be there, but we can't go and get him yet
Blue: Yes, but I know we will....hah....get him back, it may seem like a stretch due to who we are facing. But Barbossa seemed like a challenge until we got rid of him
Elizabeth: You were always one to not panic
Blue: I call it the perks of being a Sparrow
The Black Pearl leans over, pushed by strong winds, the scene transition to a matching painting of a ship at sea. A paintbrush finishes the detail, held by a steady hand as it is revealed that the focus was taken to the office of the East India Trading Company.
The hand of an artisan can be seen working on the map. Beckett stands at the map and uses Norrington's ceremonial sword as a pointer.
Beckett: There is something to knowing the exact shape of the world, and your place in it. Do you agree?
Governor Swann glares back, and raises his arms which were shackled in chains.
Swann: I assure you these are not necessary
Beckett: I pray not. I had you brought here because I thought you'd be interested in the whereabouts of your Daughter.
Swann: You have news of her?
Beckett flicks the sword point toward Mercer.
Mercer: She was most recently in Tortuga. Left in the company of the known pirate, Jack Sparrow.
Swann closes his eyes, as it was a name he didn't want to hear.
Mercer: And other fugitives from justice, such as his Son.
Beckett: Including the former owner of this sword, I believe
Swann: Justice? Hardly
Beckett shoves the sword back into its sheathe, in an oddly threatening gesture.
Beckett: Our ships have been dispatched to the hunt, sir, and justice will be dealt by cannonade and cutlass. To all. Unless.....it is made known that the pirates have taken a captive, one whose safety eclipses all other concerns
Swann: What do you want from me?
Beckett: Why, no more than has always been required. Lend your authority as governor, and the respect you command in London....in service to the crown.
Swann: To you
Beckett: To England. Shall I remove the shackles? I suspect that they are in fact, not necessary
Swann:.....Do what you can for my Daughter
Mercer approaches with the key and unshackles Swann's wrists with a loud snap. Beckett immediately grips Swann's hand and wrist in a handshake.
Beckett: Do you see, Mercer? Each man has a price he will gladly accept, even for goods he hoped never to sell

Back on the Flying Dutchman's main deck, a slam is heard as three cups covering dice are set down on a barrel. Maccus squares off against Koleniko, a sailor with one eye, and Clacker.
Maccus: I wager ten years
Koleniko: I'll match ten years
Clacker: Agreed
Will watches as the three men left their cups and check the dice. There are a total of three fives between them.
Koleniko: I bid three sixes
Clacker: Four threes
Maccus: Four fives
Koleniko: Liar
The three reveal the dice.
Koleniko: Hah! Only three!
Maccus curses as he realised that he bid too high, they shake their dice again and play another round. Bootstrap Bill comes in with Will beside him.
Bill: Wondering how it's played?
Will: I get it, you can raise the number of dice or number of pips. What are they wagering?
Bill: The only thing any of us have, years of service
Will: Any member of the crew can be challenged?
Bill: Aye, anyone
Will: I challenge Davy Jones
As soon as Will declares his intentions, all of the crew members within earshot are shocked. The sound of boots on the deck above are heard, and the crewmen part as Davy Jones is there.
Davy Jones: Accepted
A space is cleared on deck, a barrel is rolled up and crates are set down. Will and Davy Jones sit opposite, each with a cup of dice.
Will: I wager everything I own
Davy Jones: I only bet for what's dearest to a man's heart. Else there's no way to tell if he's bluffing. What a man is willing to risk, or not risk, that's a measure of his soul
Will: I wager a hundred years of service
Bill: No-!
Davy Jones: Against your freedom?
Will: My Father's Freedom
Davy Jones: Agreed
He rolls, and then Will does the same after exchanging a look with his Father.
Will: Two Threes
Davy Jones: You are a desperate man, what is the cause? It can only be a woman. Three threes.
Will: A woman need not cause you to be desperate. If you choose the right woman. Four threes.
Jones is stung by that one.
Davy Jones: I remember now, you are the one who hopes to get married. But your fate is to be married to this ship.
Will: I choose my own fate
Davy Jones: Then it wouldn't be fate, would it? Five threes
Will: Five Sixes
That was a crazy bid from Will, Davy Jones stares at Will and was trying to see if he is bluffing, before deciding that he wasn't.
Davy Jones: Liar
Will shows his dice; 3, 6, 6, 6, 6. This makes it exactly five total between the two hands, and the crew are amazed. Even Adonis, who was standing at the side, slightly shifted in surprise.
Davy Jones: Well done, Master Turner
Bill: I'm free, Jones
Davy Jones gets up and was about to walk away, but then both himself and Bootstrap are shocked when Will decides that he wasn't done.
Will: Another game
Davy Jones: You can't best the devil twice, Son
Will: Then why are you walking away?
Davy Jones eyes Will, before deciding to sit back down.
Davy Jones: The stakes?
Will: I wager my soul. An eternity of servitude
Davy Jones: Against?
Will unrolls the small piece of cloth with the drawing of the key, but he does not reveal it to Jones.
Will: What was it you said about that which is dearest to a man's heart?
He slaps the cloth on the table.
Will: I want this
Davy Jones: How do you know of the key?
Will: That's not part of the game, is it?
Jones begins to hesitate, Will was playing the danger game right now.
Will: You can still walk away
Jones scowls while his octopus beard bristles, one of the tentacles reaches into his shirt and pulls the key out. He keeps it on a chain around his neck.
Will and Davy Jones slam their cups down, just as a third cup slams with them. It is revealed to be Bootstrap Bill.
Davy Jones: What are you doing?
Bill: I'm in, matching his wager. An eternity......in service to you.
Will: No
Regardless of Will's feelings, the game begins.
Bill: I bid three twos
Will: Don't do this
Bill: The die's been cast, Will. Your bid, Captain
Davy Jones: Four threes
Will: Five threes
Bill: Six threes
Davy Jones: Seven fives
Everyone checks their dice again, there are a total of seven sixes. Will is stuck and realises that he can't go higher, so he goes for a bluff.
Will: Eight fives
But.....Davy Jones knows that Will was lying.
Davy Jones: Welcome to the crew, Lad
