The following day was February 1st, and the PLA leader and his army had been tasked with filling the freighter's specialist areas and cargo holds.
As was our duty, Mikey, Sarah and I had been tasked with documenting it.
"General Kanxia, permission to report?" A high-ranking officer asked.
"Granted."
"General, following the success of all Aviation Technology test flights, I can now confirm that Imperial has been assigned its cryo-gas water ration. The Tripod Reserve Tanks are at one hundred per cent. Likewise, Horizon has been allocated one hundred per cent of its soil and seed yield. The agriculture sector can begin sowing as soon as we reach barren orbit. In addition, the cargo holds have been filled with the lightest stocks. Capacity levels are at twenty-five per cent."
"Lieutenant Khan, tell the men well done. Now mobilize the A.I.S.U's," Harris ordered. "Make sure they're quick about heaving the remaining seventy-five per cent of tonage - dismissed."
Over the following hours, those who made up Base Teams One and Two were relieved of their Baikonur duties. Including the unemployed who had helped, they were sent to their designated areas to begin regeneration. This was done via the intercontinental monorail which led out of the vast site. In the opposite direction, The very last of The Eligible entered Baikonur in their droves.
"General," Lee began over holoscreen, "thank you for completing the first set of tasks so efficiently. Now we ask that your coordination is flawlessly precise, as you safely usher The Eligible aboard Freighters and The Core."
"Yes, Mr. President," Kanxia answered. "I shall make it so."
Naturally, with something as monumental as this, we were also tasked with documenting it. "People of the world, it is almost two and a half years since Environment Secretary Lai showcased The Solution," I explained. "As we all know, the world's majority voted against it. However, this did not prevent Secretary Lai from creating The Contingency, and seeking support, elsewhere. Conclusively, Kazakhstan and New Japan were that support. Thus, the Tripod Coalition was born. Since then we have achieved much, the most significant accomplishments being the successful construction and testing of the Land and Aviation Technologies. Now, the last time I was stood here on The Wealth Core's top level, we looked out at the assorted LAT's. Against the backdrop of the Baikonur landscape, we witnessed their glorious splendor as well as their embossed names comprized of Yingli-Solar-City panels. But today, our focus isn't the appearance of the LAT's. Instead, our focus is on their capabilities. To be specific, the biblical sight at ground level, as those with golden glows enter these revolutionary crafts. Here, we'll continue to document The Eligible as they adorn these seven wonders for as long as possible. But, for my team and I, we'll eventually have to enter Stardom, too. Luckily, we are also, Eligible. This is Chon Lai in Baikonur, for BTV."
Roughly an hour after the report, Mikey, Sarah and I descended. Via A.I.D.A's, our next course of action saw us select the belongings from our designated Temporary Dorms that we intended to take. All so they could be processed as orbital luggage, and placed in our quarters aboard Stardom. While doing so, my elusive cousin, Suki, jumped into my thoughts again. Reason being, I hadn't heard from her since Xen revealed his deal with the devil, and I was quick to remember that she was also, eligible... I beamed out a holoscreen. Moments later, Mikey and Sarah huddled behind me. Once it connected, we saw that Suki was hyped, likely because she was headed for Dynasty. "Sukes, sorry for not checking in on you more regularly. Xen's been keeping us all busy."
"I know, Chon, I know," she dismissed, instead choosing to blow a kiss at Sarah. "And there's no need to apologize. If it's any consolation, Xen's been checking in on a regular basis. I'm sure now that he's had all three of our Dots hacked and been keeping a close eye. Also, yí mā remains, close... And a slave driver, too..."
Suki was referring to her aunt; my mother; Widow Lai, and hard work in the same breath...
"Okay," I mumbled, subliminally trying to figure out what she was insinuating. But instead of playing poker games, I decided to show another hand I'd continued to sit on. "Sukes, any chance you being busy has something to do with your 'Shadow Project' or 'SS-CSP'...?"
Mikey and I shared a glance, while waiting for an answer. "Maybe," she mused. "Chon. Xen and Yyí mā told me you'd ask about that. But give it up. Stop digging!"
"Sukes, seriously, are you going to deny me too? I need to know!" I blasted.
"Chon, as yí bā always said, try and be patient. One thing I can say is, our project and SS-CSP will be game-changers, which I like to think of as the 'Ace of Spades'..."
"...W-What?" Mikey and I said in tandem. But before we could probe any further, Suki said farewell. "Guys, safe journey! I'll see you once we're clear of the exosphere!" A second after, she'd disappeared by cutting the link her end. In response, all I could do was close the holoscreen and try and embrace the flashing back rub from Sarah that I knew would follow.
Getting back on point, the time had finally come for us to grace Stardom.
"My Lord... Never mind Noah's Ark," Sarah said in dismissive awe. "This thing is beyond impressive!"
"Tell me about it," Mikey muttered as he glared upwards and studied the ginormous hull. "'Excelsior'. Guys, like Galactus, it's monstrous; globular; worldly..."
"Indeed, it is," I whispered, as wind brushed against my face and forced tears from my eyes. "But lest we forget. The Core, Stardom, and the other five are merely transforming components...Imagine how godly Dwarven Earthian Star will be...?"
As we moved past the entrance and up into Stardom's grand foyer, the three of us raised eyes once more. Our sights moved throughout the vast atrium and to the rafted ceiling of ground level. There, Stardom's official A.I.D.A scanned down onto the hordes of The Eligible until it selected each individual.
"Nǐ hǎo, Michael Chang. Your DNA skin chip has been verified as, Golden. You have been allocated a single dorm dwelling with pre-measured uniform. Please proceed to Sector 7-G, Level 51, Dorm 3. The Mind-Map will guide you there."
"Woo-hoo!" Mikey yelped, as if trying to make Homer Simpson proud. "I'm happy with that!"
"Big guy, good for you," I said while Sarah hugged at his midriff. "You deserve it! We'll catch up with you later! The inaugural launches are almost upon us!" And the ecstatic GGE was ushered along by army A.I.S.U's until merging into the golden sea of fellow eligibles.
Next, the A.I.D.A scanner moved over me and Sarah.
"Nǐmen hǎo, Chon Lai and Sarah Wong. Your DNA skin chips have been verified as, Golden. You are registered as partners and have been allocated a double dorm dwelling with pre-measured uniforms. Please proceed to Sector 9-A, Level 12, Dorm 7. The Mind-Map will guide you there."
"Sarah, you ready?" I asked with glee.
"I was born ready!" Sarah hissed, as she clutched one of my hands, intensely.
"Good!" I exclaimed, all while pulling my sound girl through Stardom's echelons. "Let's do this!"
