[Chapter 7] - Bloody Reality
(POV - 3RD)
A dark blur bolted across the forest floor, weaving through the trees and bushes as it tried to run as quick as its limbs can take it though with one of them missing, running on all legs made it quite a difficult challenge for the Alpha Beowolf.
Its fur and flesh were ripped off in several parts of its body, some of its bone plates attached to it were ripped off or cracked but what made it clear that the wounds upon the Grimm's body were inflicted by someone was the fact that a serrated spear-like saw laid impaled in its back.
Now, it's bitten off more than it could chew and for that, it is paying the price.
How ironic, for a creature of darkness to cower and run when their sole instinct is to kill any humans or Faunus that came into their sight yet now, this one just wants to escape its pursuer.
The Alpha Beowolf soon found itself tumbling onto the ground from a stray root before turning around and looking everywhere for any signs of its attacker... last it vaguely remembered was the human simply walking after him like no big deal.
Unfortunately, its brief respite from an impending doom would be shattered as the weapon lodged in its back was brutally ripped out abruptly, causing a howl of pain that ascended to a screech which shook the nearby bushes and leaves.
(Y/N) leaned back just as the Alpha Beowolf swung its remaining arm at him, hitting nothing as the former swung back an attack of his own with the Saw Spear primed and ready.
Metal tore through fur, flesh and its tar-like innards before the Grimm found itself bisected into two pieces that dropped to the ground like rocks thanks to (Y/N)'s [Strength].

[Side Quests] - (Completed)
Eliminate the Grimm marked by the bounties.
[Beowolf Pack] - Eliminated
[Boarbatusk Herd] - Eliminated
[Alpha Beowolf] - Eliminated
==================================
"Never thought I would see a Grimm run away... or is it their natural instincts as an animal?" He remarked, staring at the fading carcass.
[You Leveled Up!]
However, he ignored that thought since the death of this Grimm meant the completion of his bounties, all three of them which means he can start heading back to the village for the rewards.
Though (Y/N) couldn't help but feel just a tad bit disappointed that the fight or hunt with the Alpha Beowolf ended so quickly, most likely thanks to his evergrowing stats speaking of which, the additional five points which he all invested into [Endurance].
He quietly sighed before pulling down his mask obscuring half of his face, allowing the fresh air to breeze across his face as he dusted the hat from anything that may have fallen on it.
Since he was alone and free of tasks, he could at least take a breather by that small lake that once belonged to the Alpha Beowolf, as long as the water there was fresh and clean then he can refill his flask for the small trip back to Magnolia Village.
If not then he'll just hope the [Store] possesses some utilities or fresh food and water... it is technically a store so maybe he'll find what he needs.
Maybe he can purchase a vehicle for an easier traversal through the woods? Nah, unnecessary and most likely a waste of money if he accidentally drives it into a tree or two.
At least he knows the [Store] does indeed sell food and ingredients though the quality could use some work but since it's from the [Common] grade, it would explain the lack of good taste though he suppose beggars can't be choosers.
(Y/N) scarfed down the rather unappetising meal that took away ten points from his [Store] savings, downing water with it to wash away the bland aftertaste of meat and vegetable that was reminiscent of military rations or dried food. If that was [Common] graded food, he couldn't help but wonder how higher graded food would taste? Probably far better than the drywall of a meal.
The sun was still in the sky so if he walked fast or even ran, he would be able to reach the village before nightfall though he also wouldn't mind some extra EXPs.
However, whether it was the effect of [Player's Body] or not, he didn't felt remotely fatigued until his stats said so but he hasn't slept in a while so it would be for the best if he did, lack of sleep brings stagnation and stagnation brings the decline of awareness and skills.
He better make a move on soon.
...
The entrance to Magnolia Village hadn't really changed to honest, people still trickled in and out with not a single care in the world though the presences of the watchtowers on the outskirts of the village must be comforting enough to let people relax.
(Y/N) walked into the dirt street and headed straight for the guild building, a part of him still marvelling at the fact that this world had adventurers and guilds when this is RWBY he was thinking about, the show mostly cared for its main characters so there wasn't much worldbuilding or at least to his knowledge.
Still, it felt oddly satisfying to know that this world is just beyond the simplistic design of cities, academies and a collective few characters that would be introduced and then tossed aside for plot development or to build up characteristics.
He entered the building to see some individuals still lingering around at the tavern section or examining the bounties or at the counter registering or collecting rewards, the line wasn't long so he was inclined to simply wait behind his fellow adventurers.
Though he noticed he's receiving more looks from various people around the building... probably because of his new outfit, he had completely forgotten to change out from the [Hunter's Garbs] and back into his old clothes.
Well, not like it will matter.
Thankfully, the procedure was shorter than expected so by the time the man in front of him had finished, it was his turn to get the reward from both the elimination of the Ursa Major and the three Grimm bounties on hand.
"You're back already? Wait, when did you get new clothes?" The girl asked, doing a double take as she saw (Y/N) in his new outfit place the bounties onto the counter.
"Since now and the targets are eliminated, you can go and check." He said, keeping his expression blank and calm, whatever was the reason?
Blame his social skills that are lacking below zero.
"O-of course, we'll have the results up in an hour or less, in the meantime, here is your reward for eliminating the Ursa Major." Replied the guild girl, seemingly taken aback by (Y/N)'s impassiveness before taking out a rather generous stack of Lien.
"...This exceeds the amount of reward posted on the bounty." Was all the Player remarked, staring and knowing that amount of Lien shouldn't be right.
"It's... it's from the families that lost their relatives to the Ursa, these are given as thanks for helping them retrieve their belongings from the den." Answered the girl.
"Is that so..?" (Y/N) awkwardly stated. To be honest, he had never received such form of gratitude in any ways so this just feels plain weird.
"Also, they insisted on you accepting their gifts even if you don't want to." She then added before pushing the stack of Lien to (Y/N).
"...Am I that easy to read?" He thought while wordlessly accepting the rewards, he had considered refusing the bonuses but seeing his situation right now... it's better if he didn't.
He glanced at the Lien present inside the small satchel, the amount should last him for a while should he save up rather than expending it all on unnecessary things, food and medicines and other essentials should be the priority.
(Y/N) was about to leave when he then noticed a small dogtag next to the satchel he just took to which he picked up to examine... nothing, just a steel dogtag with the guild name on it.
"What is this?" He questioned, staring at the guild girl who explained.
"It's your tag, you know? To show what ranking you are and how experienced as a huntsman."
"Okay... is this RWBY or just your generic isekai anime?? Now we have tags for rankings???" He couldn't help but think though he still pocketed the tag.
"Got it, and for the record, I'm not a huntsman." (Y/N) replied before inquiring another issue.
"Do you happen to know where's a good place to sleep for the night or two?"
After a very brief discussion, (Y/N) exited the guild as he made his way towards the cliffs that were fenced up with more cottages built near them, giving the denizens a clear view of the sea.
From how Magnolia Village is structured at the coastline of western Mistral, he shouldn't be surprised this place had a small but cozy inn right next to the ocean and his room was one that overlooked the sea and beach and cliff of this region.
The fee was quite low considering the place which would have likely been a four to five star hotel to stay at in his old world but here? It's just a few Lien, nothing posing too serious of a dent into his funds which he'd also spent to have a meal by the seaside.
Food was adept but eating the bland meal sets bought from the [Store] was enough to make the inn's own food taste more delicious than it should be so (Y/N) didn't complain at all.
The window next to him was open so the sea breeze lightly blew onto him, the scent of the ocean was quite pristine and clear and did not smell as bad as it would in his world as well which made his food that consisted of fish and salad all the more satisfying.
Quite stunning and daresay peaceful if he was to be honest and not tired at all despite his [Fatigue] being virtually zero percent so the exhaustion must be internal or just him feeling lazy.
Nevermind his monologuing, it's about time to hit the hay.
===================================
Next day came as quick as yesterday went, sleeping until midday felt oddly strange when he remembers he's inside a fictional world with fictional people... like virtual reality.
His next steps were pretty normal for someone in another world, wake up, eat some stuff, head to the guild and get another bounty done... sure, he could leave this place and proceed to check how and when and where he's currently at in this timeline.
Why he didn't and why he's picking medicinal herbs right now is his own reasons so he'll just do what he wants and play adventurer and seeing how tedious it was to eliminate Grimm and wait for guild staff to confirm their deaths, he had opted to do something more easy.
So here he is, trudging around the forest looking for herbal plants.
The entire process was quick and simple, find the right amount of correct plants and then deliver them to the guild for them to distribute to the establishments that needs them and then receive some more Lien as a reward.
Though he did the task to kill time, he quickly got bored after one run.
So back to hunting more Grimm it is.
Unfortunately, he had only leveled up twice during the entire week here, from bounties to hunting the Grimm himself, the EXPs that were rewarded to him barely made a change but (Y/N) assumed it was because of the targets themselves.
Only Beowolves and some occasional Ursa but nothing more, not even a Nevermore or Deathstalker was present in this forest though the lack of negative emotions in this relatively peaceful village probably also played a part.
The ten new points that he had earned from the hunt were halved and invested into [Sense] and [Luck] although [Intelligence] was another stat he'd considered upgrading but seeing how most of his skills were not as [MP]-hungry as he had expected, he left it be for now.
However, on his way back to the village, he managed to take down more Grimm though it was pretty much for nothing since the EXPs given were so lacking it almost made the entire fight completely pointless but he should be glad that he's keeping the village safer.
His short days spent at the place was quiet and pleasant, he did take the liberty to visit the shores down below and was even enthralled by the sight, no dirty trawlers or rubbish floating around the waters that were pristine blue like never before.
There was even some stalls selling some fresh produce fished from the sea.
Though he didn't linger for long since he decided to return to the guild for more bounties but this time, drastically different from herb gathering or Grimm hunting.
(Y/N) entered the guild building once again, the people inside seemingly gotten used to his frequent appearances since they now just glance at him before returning to their own business.
He took a look at the board, skimming through each and every one of the bounties before finally picking one off, a group of bandits that decided to make themselves home in central Mistral but it wasn't the infamous Branwen Tribe as he had expected it to be.
While that tribe moves around the entirty of the continent of Anima like nomads, this group of bandits simply stayed in one place as a base of operation so tracking them down should be relatively easier than tracking Grimm through a forest.
(Y/N) then glanced at his stats right now... it should be fine as long as he's careful.

However, this is people he's going to be dealing with, not Grimm or plants but real walking men and women that kill others for survival... can he do it, that's the biggest question.
Since the bounty had requested their execution then he'll just have to do this quickly, a swift cut to the neck or head would do and then he'll look away, no need to spare any details on the gore.
Despite the risks, (Y/N) still took it off the board before making his way to the receptionist for the confirmation of this task much to her concern since this is talking about hunting down another human being rather than a Grimm.
Human beings are unpredictable and that can lead to all sorts of problems.
"Have you ever went after a bandit?" That was the question given to (Y/N) from the girl, looking quite worried at the task.
"No, but this should be a good experience nonetheless." He answered without missing a beat, though he had to admit the entire task was somewhat nerve-racking.
Then why do it? That was the unasked question and the answer will still remain the same as his original motivation for this endeavour; EXPs and more points to invest.
Grimm were becoming more and more ineffectual in leveling up so what better way than to hunt down another target, more specifically humans themselves that have committed a crime?
Besides, from what the scouts at the guild have reported, the number of Grimm surrounding this village and region appeared to have dwindled so it wouldn't hurt to ignore them for a few days.
"Regardless... I would still recommend you take another one... bandits were one of the issues that gave our guild members the most headaches in the past. I can't guarantee you will truly survive this one."
She wasn't being sarcastic or insulting him in any way, this was a genuinely dangerous bounty and the members that took on these types of tasks often came back with a missing limb or two or the loss of body parts, small or big.
Who knows what will happen to (Y/N) if he does this alone.
Yet she couldn't say another word because the said person had already left but not before acknowledging her warning with a nod of his head as he headed out after she marked the approximate location of the bandits on his map.
(Y/N) then went to stock up on essentials, canned food, medicine and extra clothes with the Lien he had earned. He didn't really felt like spending his currency in the [Store] for items that can be bought out from the shops in the village.
Once he had double-checked everything in his [Inventory], he set off in the direction of his targets which would most likely take a few days or even a week or more.
===================================
Few days it is and fortunately, while the central of Anima is quite filled to the brim with forest and whatnot, it didn't make his job any harder since there was a rough pathway which he followed deeper into the location of the bandit group.
During his trek, (Y/N) did get the opportunity to get some looks into the surrounding sceneries from trees to meadows to waterfalls and lakes filled with all varieties of animals, something which he saw were lacking in the original show.
Sure, there was Zwei but that's about the only animal he had seen so far, no other creatures such as birds except for a certain drunk crow, to cats or even mouses and insects.
That's a bit of an oversight but then again if he recalls, RWBY started off with a small budget so they had to work with what they can, so the diversity in animals was missing and the mob characters were all randomised from appearances to being literal shadows.
So it was nice to see some new things in this world though as much as he enjoyed the passing sights, it was tiresome to say the least once the entire trek became repetitive so (Y/N) had nothing to do other than to browse through the [Store] or continue searching.
[Common] and [Uncommon] graded items were all lacklustre as he had mentioned in stats or appearances so their costs were either too high or it simply wasn't worth the money to use.
He wanted to look further down the lists but his attention was soon snatched away by the sight of a small plume of smoke trailing into the sky, it was dark and quite widespread so it meant... there is something big burning in the distant.
It was most definitely not a campfire smoke since the density shouldn't be as thick as the one he's seeing right now though he couldn't rule out the possibility of a bonfire being lit there but he'll find out soon once he'd reached the area.
(Y/N) picked up the pace as he ran towards the fires and as soon as he burst through the trees and undergrowth, he was met with the sight of total carnage and havoc on top of what appears to be a travel caravan or wagon that resembled those from older days in history.
He saw bits and pieces of what appeared to boxes or used to be boxes with some of their contents inside spilled open and ransacked, some were completely emptied and some had remains that were likely deemed worthless to steal.
Assuming that's what happened here, Grimm don't need to still anything to survive so the answer will easily be... bandits but the question is, are the culprits the same ones he's targeting or another group of bandits from elsewhere?
(Y/N) had no time to question since he ran around the area, looking for survivors though the state of the entire place made it less and less possible that there could be any.
The Player soon stopped as he saw a single bloody arm resting underneath a nearby bush to which he brushed aside to see an older adult... Faunus with antlers on his head but... there is a deep gash cutting into his neck and chest.
There was no hope for survival for this one, (Y/N) took a deep breath as he turned over the Faunus' body before closing his gaunt eyes and then standing up again to continue looking.
(Y/N) then heard the faintest of choking from behind another bush so he headed that way, bracing for the worst but he quickly lost his breath once he brushed past the last bushes.
Can't breathe, heart beating faster, his head felt dizzy-
He felt like he was drowning or choking on air itself, he... he couldn't turn away from the sight in front of him, [Player's Mind] did its job but the quelled emotions still churned ever so harshly within his body, it was nauseating, so damn nauseating.
His heart began beating faster and faster as he almost stumbled down from stepping onto a branch, his legs were shaking but whether it was from fear or disgust or both, he couldn't tell.
(Y/N) had killed Grimm and seen their insides, he had hunted down rabbits and skinned them down and gutted out their innards so he was quite confidently sure he could handle the sight of a maimed human or two no matter how brutal it is.
How wrong he was, so, so deadly wrong.
For the sight of a young girl's violated body was one that should never be seen by any... strangulation marks and bruises marred her body and her exposed chest heaved with choked breath, each one seemingly harder than the last.
His eyes briefly drifted to the girl's head where a small pair of antlers grew out of her head... one of them was broken though he was sure it isn't as broken as her own mind and body.
His daughter, that was the first thought which came to his mind.
(Y/N) didn't how he did so but with shaking hands, he took off his cloak before covering the faunus' body though it didn't appear to work against the cold since she was shivering more... that or she isn't shivering from the cold in the first place.
She was still breathing so he just needs to get out his supplies, help her- do whatever he can to bring her back to Magnolia Village for treatment- (Y/N) stopped.
He felt a hand gripping his wrist and he turned to see the girl looking at him.
Grimm attacking with the intent to kill scared him, him dying once more despite coming to life again scared him, all those blood and bodies that he had spilled back in Yharnam scared him but it was short-lived but what truly scared (Y/N) is the fact that the Faunus, despite having the strength to tightly grip onto his wrist, looked at him with the most dead eyes ever.
No hope, no spark of life, no will, no nothing, just... just an empty shell.
Her mouth twitched and moved just the slightest and (Y/N) leant down to hear whatever she had to say though the next seconds his ears picked up her sentence, he froze in and outwardly.
"End it, please..."
She wanted to die, she wanted her suffering to end and she was begging him to end it.
What... what does he do? What does he do? WHAT DOES HE DO?
He felt his breathing quicken as he eyes went in and out of focus, he was asked to kill her to relieve her suffering but... assisted suicide? Voluntary euthanasia? That was illegal in his world, this was not his world and he was all alone so the final decision ultimately falls onto him.
Should he do it? Can he do it? Will he do it?
Should he respect her broken wish and end her suffering as she so desperately pleaded or will he make her cling onto whatever life remains within her and bring her to safety?
He doesn't know. He'd never know because this is the first time that he was given such heavy decision, saving her may not even work out in the end, she was violated so horribly to the point she yearned death so she might as well commit suicide herself later after he saves her.
Morally, he should do the right thing and take her back to the village... but her mental state does not offer any confidence that she won't try anything that may harm or kill herself on the way back even though she physically shouldn't be capable of doing anything strenuous.
(Y/N) looked at the deer Faunus' eyes, her dead gaze silently begging him to finish her... she doesn't know him and vice versa, she doesn't resent him for coming too late since he never knew but she just wants him to do what is essentially her dying wish.
...
Silently and without any indication, (Y/N) took out one of the swords from his case as he stood over the deer Faunus with the tip poised above her throat, eyes unfocused as he tried to hide away from the sight as best as he can but he couldn't, he shouldn't.
(Y/N) met the glazed eyes of the girl with his own though for just the briefest moment, he saw... gratitude shining ever so faintly through her dying will as she mouthed out something.
"Thank you."
Without blinking, he plunged the sword into her throat and through her spine, letting blood spill out from the wound as she quietly choked for just a few seconds before falling still and silent.
The next few seconds were more agonising for (Y/N) as he tried pulling out his blade, listening to the slick and nauseating sound of metal exiting flesh and bones that sounded much more louder than it should be alongside his heartbeats.
(Y/N)'s hands shook as he pulled the rest of his weapon out from the Faunus before collapsing onto his knees, tightening his fists so harder that his bones and flesh were starting to hurt but he didn't care as he shook more and more violently.
"Fuck..." He swore, slamming his fist onto the ground.
"FUCK." (Y/N) said again, voice audibly louder than the last as he smashed his fist into the ground, this time with enough force to dig down into the earth.
"FUUUCK!" He screamed into the air, was he regretting the decision he just made? He doesn't know anymore, he was breathing hard and in a split-second, he made another choice.
Forget subtlety, he's going to kill every last one of those fucking bandits.
(Y/N) felt [Player's Mind] activate once again which at this point, he was feeling more annoyed at it than grateful, he needed to vent but the [System] is actively stopping him from letting out all those emotions within him.
Whether it's a good thing or not depends but all that negativity from him would be enough to attract some Grimm over to his location, and he was not in the mood to hunt them down.
No, he needs to hunt down those worthless sacks of shit-
(Y/N)'s thoughts trailed off into an audible low growl as he looked towards the direction where the grass and dirt were overturned and flattened, most definitely the way the bandits left.
He almost began sprinting in that direction... but stopped himself just as he turned back to the corpses and the wagon, (Y/N) then ripped off what used to be a blanket or curtain or cloth to cover the caravan which he proceeded to wrap it around the bodies.
If he's going to avenge them, he should do so after sending them off.
He briefly recalled cremating bodies would need temperatures exceeding over 800 Celsius but with whatever material or fuel he has here won't be enough so old-fashioned burial will do.
(Y/N) dug his sword into the ground before pushing it deeper into the earth and then ripping chunks of soil and grass out which he then proceeded to use his hands and grip the dirt underneath to pull more out.
He rinsed and repeated the process several times until there was huge hole in the ground thanks to his [Strength], (Y/N) swiftly went and carried the bodies and then gingerly lowering them into the earth, placing the girl next to her father.
(Y/N) wasn't religious in the past but he still prayed for these two to find peace in the afterlife, hopefully culling the bandits will give them respite.
"I'll make them pay, I swear to you." He said quietly before standing up and walking off into the direction of the fading footprints.
He's going to make them pay, every last one of them, this isn't a game anymore... no, it never was a game in the first place, it was just his naivety and stupidity deluded by the prospect of being superhuman that got him in this mess in the first place.
Was he too late to see it clearly? Most likely despite how he had accepted this new life granted to him by that "God", what he does and up to his decisions alone and now?
He's going to kill those bandits.
He's no Huntsman nor hero, he'll kill those that threaten his life and others for no good reasons, bandits are one such targets fitting the description.
Can he be called a villain? Probably, but he's not the one killing others for the sake of killing or to pillage and steal their goods, he's simply doing what can be considered good by eliminating the filth on this world when no one else is willing to.
One step at a time, (Y/N) picked up the pace as his walk turned into a jog, his jog turned into a run, his run turned into a sprint in the direction of those filthy bastards.
This ends now.
===================================
Strutting through the forest were several figures all dressed in similar garbs and armed with small firearms to rusting machetes and knives, slung on their backs were large bags of goods that became their rewards from ambushing a small-time merchant and his daughter.
Judging by their haul, they were quite unpleasantly gleeful at their deeds today.
"Did you see that animal's face when I broke her horn? Little bitch probably felt good from that when I pounded into her!" One bandit laughed with the rest joining in.
"Too bad her old man couldn't put up more of a fight, imagine his face when we banged his little shit! Hahaha!" Another laughed followed by more.
However, during their little laughing session, they didn't notice a pair of glowing eyes behind them, shining ominously through a branch before vanishing into the shadows with another shadow snaking towards the bandits at the furthest back.
It was quick and silent, a hand clamped down on the bandit's mouth before pulling his head back, forcing the former to look into the eyes of a young man staring down at him with glowing eyes and a sword raised up high in the air.
Before he could let out a yell or a sound, (Y/N) plunged the blade into the bandit's throat and through his body and then proceeded to drag the corpse into the shadows, leaving behind nothing but the cluttering sound of the bag of goods dropping to the ground.
"Hey, don't drop our shit, dumbass! We need to survive for... longer..?" The bandit in front of his now missing brethren trailed off.
"Hey guys, where the hell is-" Just as he spoke up, a pair of hands gripped his head tightly and wrenched it violently around before he could make a sound.
(Y/N) pulled him into the shadows like the one before with the bag of goods dropping to the ground like before.
This time, it was enough for two or more bandits to turn and realise two members of their group were missing and are nowhere in sight, alarming them all.
"Where the hell did those two go?!" One shouted which caused the rest to drop their goods and take out their weapons.
"I don't know! I turned around and they were just gone!"
"Think someone might have followed us?"
"No shit, of course we got a damn rat on our tails, find that bastard!"
"How the hell are we suppose to- AHH!" One bandit was about to voice out before he felt himself getting pulled down into the ground.
His scream then disappeared into the shadow below them, effectively freaking the rest of the bandits out as they spread out apart to prevent anyone else from grabbing them but obviously, it didn't work at because another scream was heard and they saw another getting dragged away.
"What the fuck was that?! A Grimm?!" A bandit questioned as he started firing his weapon into the dark trees, startling his fellow members.
"You idiot! Don't start shooting without telling us!" One hissed in growing anger as he brandished his blade, looking everywhere for signs of their attacker.
"If the fucker wants to play with the dark then let's give them a surprise... boys! Grab all the fire Dust you have and throw them!" Ordered who appears to be the leader of the group.
Every single bandits then took out what seems to be a red crystal before throwing them hard against a tree which cracked apart and allowing flames to burst forth and spread to the ground and leaves as everything started burning up.
"Let's see that bastard try and hide now!" One cackled in morbid glee with the rest agreeing with him but their sense of victory were short-lived as one bandit was dragged into the shadow again.
"AH! WAIT, NO! NO! NO! HELP ME!" He screamed, realising the futility before disappearing much to the shock and now growing fear of the remaining bandits.
"What the fuck!? That still didn't work?! Is it a Huntsman?!! Their Semblance?!"
"Neither." Was a new voice that they all heard as they turned to see a single young man holding their fellow bandit by the neck.
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!" The supposedly leader demanded, pointing his scimitar at (Y/N) who remained silent before answering back eerily.
"No one special." Was his words before chucking the corpse at them, their fellow bandit's expression before death was that of pain and fear.
Fear which soon spread to the remaining living bandits, confused and slowly panicking because for one; they knew Huntsmen were rarely given the order to kill their targets asides from Grimm and the rarity of receiving a kill order against another human was almost zero.
So for this one person to suddenly appear out from nowhere like a phantom and having taken out a majority of their members already but their thoughts were soon cut short as (Y/N) spoke up to them with a voice that bordered on sheer anger that was tempered under a cold visage.
"Who's next?" (Y/N) asked in a deathly quiet voice yet everyone in the burning forest could hear him loud and clear as he pointed at one bandit.
"You? Or you?" His voice went lower as it descended into a growl, continuously pointing at the stunned bandits as he threw something at their feet.
It was the head of their fellow bandit, its glazed eyes staring right back into theirs with a perpetually haunted look on their frozen face as blood continued draining from the stump.
"Actually... it doesn't matter, because I'm going to kill you all." He declared with another guttural growl as he stalked forward.
Some of the lesser brave bandits actually took a step back from (Y/N) as he approached them with heavy steps, watching the shadow around him and them converge onto the former before forming twin blades in his hands with a dark aura surrounding him, literally and figuratively.
"D-don't get cocky, you son of a bitch! DIE!" One bandit shouted, firing his weapon right towards the Player's motionless form.
However, a blink of an eye and he was gone.
"You're annoying." Was all the bandit firing the weapon heard before seeing a lone blade raised and swung at him in a blur.
[Skill: Chain Strikes has activated]
In mere seconds, the bandit was carved into several bloody pieces as (Y/N) swung continuously at the body, now effectively nothing but pieces of meat and bones.
"YOU BASTARD!" A bandit screamed, rushing at him with a blade raised but the Player simply looked at him emotionlessly.
[Skill: Dash has activated]
The bandit swung down but to his shock, hit nothing but air before he felt a cold metal slicing into his neck and across, the last sight his blurring vision saw was (Y/N) standing above him not even bothering to look at him.
"You- damn Huntsman! How much did they pay you?!"
"Huntsman? I thought I told you." (Y/N) began before closing the space between him and the few bandits alive with a growl.
"I'm no Huntsman." He stated, swinging the blade once more.
That day, the forest was filled with screams that tore through the skies and ground but unfortunately, no one could hear them begging for help in that place.
