Chapter Seven
Killer (Kaname)- Age 17
Lyla- Age 15
Lyla woke in a panic her panic only increasing as she realized she didn't recognize her surroundings. Haunting, ghastly images from her nightmare flashed through her mind's eye causing her stomach to churn. She shook her head trying to rid herself of the residual image's but they wouldn't leave her.
"Lyla?" Kaname's soft groggy voice sounded from the doorway, "What's wrong?"
"K-kaname s-senpai." Lyla squeaked, she'd forgotten she was in his room, that he'd had to come to her rescue once again. "I'm sorry if I wo-." She cut off with a squeak as he crossed the room and reached out to feel her forehead.
"What did you dream about?" He asked her softly after determining she wasn't running a fever. A yawn escaped him as he sat on the edge of his bed and looked down at the frail ghostly pale girl. Whatever she'd seen in her sleep had turned her white as a sheet, it must have been truly ghastly.
"N-nothing, I'm okay. Sorry for troubling you." She apologized again and tried to look anywhere but at him as his pale blue eyes fell on her.
"Come with me." He grabbed her by the hand and gently tugged her from his bed.
Lyla stumbled after him with a soft squeak and frantically snatched her glasses from atop his nightstand as she was dragged from the room. "Senpai? What are you doin-?" She cut off with a gasp as he steered her into the sitting room, the room was aglow from the moonlight reflecting on the snow outside. She stared out the wall of glass to the snow-covered balcony and felt a sense of calm wash over her as she looked beyond to the winter wonderland that used to be their school campus. "It's beautiful."
Kaname chuckled and sat her in front of the wall of glass to stare at the fresh virgin snow mounds that littered the grounds. He grabbed a blanket from the sofa he'd been sleeping on moments before and went to sit beside her, draping the blanket around them both. A faint blush spread across her pale cheeks as he draped his arm across her slender shoulders offering her warmth and support. They sat in silence for a while watching the snow fall.
"I think you're stuck with me for a while, class monitor." Kaname chuckled as he looked to the school building across the grounds and noticed the snow had piled up so high it almost cleared the doors at the front entrance.
Lyla followed his gaze and gasped, "Oh no! We were supposed to have an exam tomorrow!"
Kaname couldn't help but laugh at this, "I think you're the only one in the snow storm that worries about missing exams. Most people would worry about freezing to death, getting snowed in with no supplies or emergency situations."
"You're here so I think we can handle most emergency situations." She smiled as she leaned against him.
"My methods might require a lot of detention slips." Kaname teased her.
"Lucky for you my detention slips were all ruined in the pool." Lyla giggled.
"Is that right?" Kaname chuckled, his voice sounding like it was getting closer.
Lyla turned to him curiously and felt her cheeks begin to redden as she almost smacked her face into his, he was so close! "Ah! K-kaname-senpai, what are you doing?" She squeaked adorably and would have fallen away from him, if not for his strong grip keeping her in place.
"Stealing a kiss." He breathed softly before brushing his lips against her soft pale rose petal lips. His lips pulled into a smile against hers as Lyla let out a panicked squeak and her face turned scarlet.
"K-Kaname senpai!" Lyla squealed as she fell away from him, red faced and heart pounding.
Kaname couldn't help but chuckle at the flustered girl, it was too much fun teasing her. It was just a peck and she was ready to die from embarrassment, she was too cute. "You feeling feverish, class monitor?" He teased her.
Lyla swatted at him, incapable of speech and rolled herself into the blanket to bury her face only to wind up swaddling herself like a burrito and finding that her arms became pinned at her sides. She was stuck.
Kaname laughed as he watched the petite girl struggle to fight her way out of the blanket, to no avail. "Need a hand."
"No." Came her squeak of a reply, and after a few more minutes of struggling, "Please."
With a chuckle, Kaname easily disentangled her from the blankets and shook his head as she scrambled to her feet and bolted to his room to escape. "Goodnight, Class Monitor." He called after her with a smile, "Sweet dreams."
