Chapter 37 ~ In Case What Does What Now?
Lol I'm late.
K bye
~<>~
Everyone wanted to go with us.
It was a hilarious moment for us, actually, because they all agreed immediately. It was like they were sick of the place too. Yuri felt offended, but no one really cared.
With all the Rebels on board, it was difficult to figure out a plan of how to get out of the city. Since we were all a big group, it wasn't like we could just sneak out all together. We would be caught easily. Even if it was at night. We also had to think about how to get everyone to Notch City. At one point, I was thinking about disguising the more wanted people, and getting on a train, but Yuri had a better idea.
"Do you children know the legend of the Minetrack Scam?" He asked us all in the meeting room (we came in there to pack things up, but we also needed to think of an escape plan).
We all shook our heads no. Except Abby.
"Oo!" She raised her hand. "I do! I read about it. It was—"
"No!" Yuri exclaimed. Then, he calmed himself. "I want to tell the story."
Abby grumbled to herself and picked up the papers she dropped.
"The Minetrack Scam was a local legend a little less than 50 years ago, when Bladville was a new city, and Notch was still around." Yuri explained. "You see, it was a fast-growing place. In fact, the shipping of blocks and materials was so plentiful, many thought that there were smugglers that brought some supplies from other large cities through an underground minecart track system with a smaller price and no taxes paid. It became known as the Minetrack Scam, a small myth that didn't go too far. No one got upset over the fact that people were accusing the government of illegal activities; it was just a silly joke."
"But it was actually true." Abby said in a low, dramatic tone.
Yuri groaned. "I wanted to say that."
Abby shrugged emotionlessly.
He sighed. "Yes, the whole ordeal was true. However, in the government's defense, they did not know about it. It was just a few workers, who were eventually caught and arrested silently without the public knowing the real reasons."
"How do you know this?" Jake asked, curious.
"A question for another time." Yuri said, which made Jake narrow his eyes. "Where I am getting at, is that the tracks were never found. Therefore—"
"They're still down under the city." I finished, amazed.
He threw his hands up in the air. He looked like he was about to complain about everyone cutting him off, but he eventually got over it and continued, "Indeed." He pulled out a rolled up piece of paper. "I have the map of them. Which I acquired from a mission a while ago. And guess which city we can go to."
"Gotham?" Infinity asked.
Yuri said nothing.
"Notch City." Mastermind whispered.
She pursed her lips. "Close enough."
"So we can use the tunnels." Gordon raised his eyebrows. "Are we going to have enough iron for minecarts?"
Yuri shook his head. "No. We will have to walk. However, they are much faster than traveling on the surface. Also, much safer."
"Where's the entrance?" I walked over to him.
Instead of unrolling the map for me to see, he put it away rudely. "I have it memorized. It's right at the gate of the city, near the train station."
"So the smugglers could easily put their things next to all the others that were delivered on the train." Abby informed us.
"We're still going to have to walk?" Jazz whined.
"You need the exercise, you lazy bum." Ash shoved him.
"Rude." He muttered, shoving Ash back, but he barely budged.
I turned away from the two. "How long will it take for us to walk?"
Yuri took a deep breath and looked up in thought. He crossed his arms. "Well, without much resting, it should take about a week."
"Wait." Gordon held a hand up. "The train ride here took, what, four days? And we're walking, which will supposedly take only three more days, including times for naps. See my point here?"
"The train had to go around many obstacles." Abby pointed out. "It didn't just go in one single direction like what we will do."
"Still..."
"Fine. A minimum of one week." Yuri corrected himself. "Better?"
"Yes." Ash answered for Gordon, who closed his mouth.
"At least a week..." I muttered. "Down in those small tunnels..."
"You okay, Kat?" Jake asked.
I nodded. "I'm good."
I was actually worried. Sure, we were in tunnels all the time. But it was only for a short bit, only with a few (or ten) people, and we were safe from Herobrine. Plus, who knew what lurked in those tunnels after all of these years?

"Kat?"
I turned around. Damen was standing in my open doorway.
"Hi Damen. What's up?" I asked him with a smile.
He stood there awkwardly. "Can I come in?"
"Sure."
He took a few steps inside. I was glad he left the door open.
"So you're packing things up in here?" He gestured to the empty bookshelves.
I nodded. "Yep. We are leaving in a few hours, and I still need to help the others collect all the weapons."
"Yeah..." He rubbed the back of his head. "Um, I don't mean to make this awkward, but I guess I needed to tell you sooner or later."
I raised an eyebrow.
"I heard Marcus told you..."
"Told me what?" I knew the answer, but I was too scared to actually say it.
"That I... liked you."
"Oh. Yeah... that." I really hoped that he wasn't going to confess his love and challenge Jake or something.
"And I just want to say," He held his hands up, "That I have no intentions of coming between you and Jake. I acknowledge my place, and I respect your relationship."
"Really?" I was surprised.
"Really really." He chuckled. "I see how things turn out when there's a love triangle in a story. Not very well. I'm sure I'll get over the whole thing."
"That's good." I didn't know what to say, so I stood there awkwardly for a bit. Then, I added, "Thank you for that, though."
"For?"
"Admitting it. And not going too far."
"Oh. No problem." He took a few steps back.
However, he bumped into Jake, who had just walked in. Jake was looking suspicious, and slightly annoyed.
"Oh, sorry mate." Damen apologized. Then, he added, "See you later, Kat." He walked out.
"What was that all about?" Jake asked, frowning.
"Don't worry, we were just talking." I smiled at how upset he looked. Which was probably mean for me. But Infinity was right— he was really protective.
"Oh." He didn't look convinced. "You sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure. Just brushing on the fact that we were going back to Notch City."
"It's about time, eh?" Jake walked over to me and hugged me. "I don't know about you, but I didn't get a lot of sleep here. Too much stress and wondering if today was going to be the day we were going to get caught."
"Same." I agreed. "I'm glad we can finally return. I haven't made fun of Charlie in a while."
"We can see all the council members again."
"And Notch... Oh what am I going to say to him?"
"That we did our best." Jake pulled away and held me at arms length. "That we figured out the corruption, got some new friends, and that we did some crazy things, like break into a mansion. And you got into that army base, which I still can't believe. Speaking of that... How's your injury?" He looked at my shoulder.
"All healed up." I smiled proudly.
"That was quick." He chuckled.
"Yeah..."
I wondered if it was godly healing powers. I mean, it was hard to kill a god, so they should be basically immune to puncture wounds... right? Since I'm half god, then I must heal quickly. That would explain how I didn't die from the enderpearls. I probably had more stamina too, which is probably why I was slightly faster than the others, and could run longer. Of course there's also the water breathing...
"What are you thinking about?" Jake tilted his head, smiling.
"What do you mean?" He shook me out of my thoughts.
"You have that look. You narrow your eyes a bit, and bite the inside of your cheek."
"I do not do that!"
He laughed. "Yes you do! You usually do that when you think of a crazy plan, or have a eureka moment. And now I'm scared."
"Oh, shut up." I playfully hit his shoulder.
"Ow!" He grabbed it, gasping. "Abuse!"
As I laughed, I had to still think about the whole half god thing again. Did Jake know that I was one? Did everyone know? Was it a part of the prophecy? Is that why everyone looks at me differently? It would explain a lot, actually.
"There it is again." Jake said. "What are you thinking about?"
I didn't want to tell him. Plus, I trusted Jake. Maybe he didn't know. If he did know, he would've told me.
"Just about what'll happen when we get back." I lied.
He gave me a reassuring smile, and kissed my forehead. "Don't worry. Everything's going to turn out okay."
On the outside I was smiling, but on the inside I wasn't so sure about that.

It was finally time. We were finally leaving.
We decided to go up in groups. Since there were exactly thirty people, we decided to be in six groups of five. The first people on the surface were going to be Jake, Infinity, Abby, Gordon and I. Then Skye, Jona, Mastermind, Yuri, and Scarlet were going to come up a few minutes after us. There would be a group of people that I didn't even know the names of (sad, am I right?), then another random group. The fifth group would be Ash, J, and some other people. The final people would be Jazz, Elly, Rein, Damen, and Marcus.
I took a deep breath, staring up at the ladder to the alley above. Then, I looked at my group behind me. They were all armor-less, since armor was too shiny and would be noticeable. Jake tilted his chin up, Infinity was smiling while she held Gabriel, Abby nodded, and Gordon flashed me a grin. It reminded me of when we went on our journey to Notch City. It was just the five of us, going to the council. Now, it was the five of us leaving the city in which we were wanted in. I don't really know what that means.
"We're all ready back here!" Yuri whisper-shouted from behind all the people in the middle.
I smiled. "Let's do this."
I climbed up the ladder, and broke the chest. I popped my head out, and surveyed the area. There were no police that were in the alley. "Wait a sec." I whispered to Jake. Then, I got out of the hole, and sneaked over to the entrance. The roads were empty, except a police officer to the right walking away from us. I then walked back to the hole and whispered, "All clear. Be quick."
As they climbed out, I kept watch. When all four finally were in the alley, I took a shaky breath. We were supposed to go stealthy, but it was easier said than done. I was worried we were going to have to take out a few people. If, you know, they could reach us.
"We ready?" Gordon whispered.
"Wait." Infinity unzipped her jacket, put Gabriel inside, and zipped it back up so he was completely covered except for his head. Then, she answered, "Yes."
I nodded, then swiftly but quietly ran down the street to the right. I could hear the footsteps of everyone behind me. Hopefully no one else could.
We managed to get down a few alleyways before I turned into one. I quickly got out some ladders, and started to build up the side of the building. We thought of it earlier, of running across the rooftops. The buildings near us were luckily near the same size, so it would be easy. However, they eventually stopped, and reached a height which was too tall, but we could make it to the train station on foot after that.
When I made it to the top, I waited for everyone. Then, we sprinted across the rooftop. At the end, I placed a block so my jump was more elevated, and jumped over the four block gap. Everyone else used the block as momentum, and made it to my roof.
We did that for a few times until the buildings started to get taller. It was at that moment when we had to jump down. I searched my inventory, but found nothing that would cushion our fall. Crap. I did not think that through.
"I gotchu." Gordon stepped forward, took out a water bucket, and poured it over the side, so there was a waterfall into the alley. I held my breath as the water flowed closer to the entrance, but it stopped. I exhaled. No one could see the random flow of water from the street.
"Good thinking, but," Abby walked over, "why do you have a water bucket?"
Gordon shrugged. "In case my tnt accidentally ignites."
"In case what does what now?"
"Never mind all that." I said, jumping down into the water. I let the stream lower me to the ground slowly. Finally, I touched the ground and waded out of the stream. Same as before, as everyone descended, I stood watch, trying to dry myself off.
"We can leave that for the others." Gordon said, wringing the bottom of his shirt off.
Jake put his jacket back on, as he took it off so it wouldn't get completely wet. "And if someone bad sees it?"
Infinity shrugged. "We hope they don't."
To that, Jake sighed.
"Guys." I got their attention, and pointed further down the street. "Look. The train station is right there. Just a few blocks away." (K she means city blocks, not minecraft blocks you plebs)
"Security guards?" Abby peeked her head out.
"None on the street. But there might be one near the station, so still be quick. Let's go."
We continued to run on the streets. At one point we had to duck inside a grocery store (in my defense, they shouldn't have had a wood door that was easy to get through) since an officer was coming. However, they went by without seeing us.
When we left the building, we managed to make it another block. (city block)
"We're almost there!" I whisper-yelled.
All of a sudden, a flash of purple light appeared in front of me.
I skidded to a stop and backed up into the others. An Enderman appeared right in our path, towering down on us.
"Miss me?" General Enderman asked.
"Hardly." I growled, pulling out my sword.
More flashes of purple light, and we were surrounded by eight more endermen. They all stared at us, wanting us to look them in the eye. Gabriel barked at one, but Infinity quickly shushed him.
"What do you want." I lit my sword, waving it slowly so the endermen saw the fire.
The General stared at it. "Oh come now, no need to be so hostile. We just want a little meeting."
"We don't want to meet with you." Abby said, shifting from foot to foot anxiously.
"How rude." He frowned. "Well then, there's someone else that you can see."
"And if we don't want to?" Jake pulled out his own sword.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He pointed to behind us.
I turned, and gasped. Walking toward us on the street, Lieutenant Skeleton was with a group of zombies and skeletons. They were herding Skye, Jona, Yuri, and Mastermind. I wondered why they didn't attack the mobs, but then I saw Lieutenant Skeleton holding Scarlet with a crossbow to her head. She looked so frustrated I thought she was going to explode.
"The others will be arriving soon." The General said. "Come." He turned and started walking to the left, away from the station.
I wanted to take my sword and stab him in the back. Well, I wasn't that tall, so the leg. But I couldn't risk anyone else getting hurt. So I looked back at everyone. They all looked either scared, nervous, or frustrated.
"Let's go." I croaked out.
"But..." Gordon started. Then, his face fell, and he nodded sadly.
At this point, the other group met up with us, and we all met up at one. The boys looked worried. Scarlet was let go, and glared at the Skeleton.
"Move." He demanded.
I felt Jake's hand grab mine. We reluctantly followed General Enderman.
We went through the streets, slowly walking to who knows where. It slowly started drizzling, which totally completed the dreary mood.
"Hey!" Someone called from way down the street. "What's going on over there?!" It was a police officer.
"This is none of your concern!" General Enderman raised his voice so he could be heard. "Leave this place!"
The officer turned without a word, and left. It was like magic.
We continued on.
"Where are we going...?" Jake uttered.
I looked through the rain and dark. The General was leading us toward the edge of the town.
"We're going to the cliffs..." I answered, partial disbelief.
"Great..."
We finally reached the ends of the buildings. There was a clearing with a stone floor that must've stretched around the whole base. A two block high cobblestone wall was in the way, and General Enderman stopped right in front of it. He held his hand up, but I couldn't see his facial expression. One of the cobble fences started to quiver. Then, it broke from the wall, and was set to the side. He was controlling the block.
The General did a few more so there was a big enough hole for even the mutant mobs to get through. Then he turned around. "Coming?"
I narrowed my eyes at him, but walked in after him.
The other side was the cliffside. There was a thirty block length of flat, grassy area that, again, ran around the perimeter of the island. After that, the cliff dove straight down, so all was seen was the sea. It would've been a great view, despite the rain and the whole... situation.
The whole place was deserted, except a single person. He was turned so we couldn't see his face, his arms folded on his back. I couldn't see exactly who it was in the dark, but he had dark hair, dark pants, and a blue shirt. But as he turned, my breath hitched. Those glowing white eyes were very distinguishing.
"Hello, children." Herobrine grinned.
~<>~
I was going to end on General Enderman's appearance, but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So guys. Whatchu think is going to happen next?
Leave ideas here. And be serious. This is going to be my favorite part of the book, and I planned this from the start of The Soldier. I wanna know what you think is going to happen.
^ that was question
Rock on, my little rebels.
